Had a great time during the Christmas holiday Dec. 24-26 mainly because of the choice of hotel. The Hotel Granvia is part of the Kyoto Station complex which is an arquitectural marvel. The amenities were great, pool, hot tub, restaurants and lounges were amazing. Alex, our porter/bellman was very helpful and the concierge service was outstanding. Will be returning soon.
Rooms do not look like the hotel website, despite paying for the granvia floor. Breakfast was absolutely terrible. I got bought Untoasted bread and had to ask for croissants several times. The language barrier is evident. Hotel is basic and super noisy. There were maid carts outside our room at 8am alongside music outside our room continuously at night. I really wouldn’t recommend this hotel. Kyōto seems to have a lack of luxury hotels, so don’t get fooled into this one being classed as one.
The staff is very friendly and helpful. The room is very spacious and clean, but the downside is that there is not enough powerpoint and no usb plug in the room. The advantages of this hotel, is their location, its located on the stop of kyoto station. Its make easier for us to catch JR Line, Subway and also bus. Shopping mall, 7eleven and restaurant also in the walking distance, so its very convenient if you want any food or snack. So Far the experience staying in Hotel Granvia Kyoto is been pleasant and enjoyable. Will consider to stay in this hotel again in the future.
Excellent location, very welcoming, caring, friendly staff. Room size very much ok, very well equipped. Breakfast excellent, beyond expectation! There are three restaurants to choose - I choose the on on top floor, quiet, lively view, individual service, hot dish to be chosen from five choices, is being served, everything else self service from the buffet, but very stylish, high quality, excellent bread. The only minus and therefore one star missing: the pool fee is 1000 Yen per day and there is no onsen/hot bath. However, the bath tub is big abd deep enough to soak in. Would again choose the hotel for my next trip
We loved everything about our stay here. We were on our honeymoon so they changed our room to one with a view of the Kyoto Tower. The room was beautiful- really spacious and super modern. The bed was incredibly comfy. The shower was in a wet room and my husband raved about how great the shower was! (Also weird side note but the toilets are wicked- the seat opens for you and the seat is warm... don't get that in Australia!) The location is the best. Even though this hotel is in the train station, it's really quiet in the rooms. We couldn't hear anything. There's a huge underground mall with heaps of restaurants and shops. There's some really good food under there! We were also like, 2 minutes from catching any train, which made it handy to go out to various different attractions and areas. We did go to the pool on the third floor, but found out it isn't included in the room price. It cost 1,000 yen I think for a day pass, which was pretty annoying. You have to cover any tattoos and also wear a swim cap. All in all, brilliant hotel and we would definitely stay there again!…
First class hotel, the location right above the train station makes exploring Kyoto a breeze. We had a room on the Granvia Floor with lounge access, the staff their were extremely helpful providing us with many tips. They even went as far as to organize a tea purchase form the supplier the hotel uses. Nothing was to much trouble for them. A really big thank you to the staff in the lounge. We eat as several of the hotel restaurants for either lunch or dinner and could not fault a thing. The only downside and this is a real weak point was the breakfast that was offered in either of the two buffet restaurants 2nd and 15 floor. The quality was substandard, we had breakfast on the 15 floor one day at 8:30 and there were no croissants, when I asked for some I was told they were sold out?!? Went to the lounge afterwards to get some tips about where to go and they had a full basket there. Other times the food at Le Temps was cold, the fresh fruit was anything but. You can get apple juice at one of the restaurants but not at the other, when I asked if that was possible I was told flatly no. I do recommend you stay here but eat breakfast someplace else and save the money and get a room without it included.…
Awesome hotel, wish we had stayed more than 1 night here. The bed was super comfortable, especially after 1.5 weeks of sleeping on tatami floor in previous accommodations (bad decision). Bathroom was also great, complete with all amenities, even had those side showers thing. And so convenient to go everywhere, plethora of dining choice in Kyoto station, Kyoto tower, Kintetsu Kyoto station, which are all within walking distance. The price was reasonable, we paid $177 per night for 2 adults and 2 young kids, and lucky got a free upgrade to a larger room (which was pretty spacious). We paid the same for an Airbnb house nearby on previous nights, which was in worse condition. The staff are also friendly especially the concierge. The front desk was a bit cold but o well he gave us free upgrade so all forgiven. Some things I wish they have are coin laundry (would have chosen to stay here instead of Airbnb if there was one), and not the pricy hotel laundry service please; And that the swimming pool is free for all hotel guests not just the more VIP guests (have to pay Y1100 pp otherwise). …
We stayed several nights during our visit to Kyoto. The staff are super-friendly, professional and helpful. The concierge helped us book a tour and provided many helpful recommendations on restaurants. The Kyoto Station is amazing - 11 story shopping mall, dozens of restaurants, and on and on. Very clean and comfortable room at a reasonable price. Easy transportation options to all points in Kyoto and bullet train hub to access all of Japan. We definitely would stay again on our next visit.
hotel is over the station so very convenient (well Granvia hotels are owned by JR). a little impersonal. this hotel is huge. breakfast was good and room was excellent and fairly spacious. well worth a visit.
We really enjoyed our stay at the hotel. Very good amenities and spacious. I think there's a premium for bigger rooms, so families may need to weight if that is worth the extra. Easy to reach after a tiring flight to Kansai. The view from our room - from our Club floor we didn't hear the trains passing by.
