This hotel has large rooms, super small bathroom as everywhere in Japan, a meeting place with tables and microwave to heat-up outside food. It is 15 minutes walk from the station, close to 1000 buddhas temple and close to river walk.

Not much to add. You can't get it wrong with this simple hotel: good price, relatively close to Kyoto Station, they rent bikes (basic style), room was clean, small but functional bathroom. The little buns and coffee they offer (for free) in the morning is a little +.

It's terrible to find a place for almost U$s 90 without room cleaning service. They say it's near the Train Station, but it's a lie...there are 15 minues by bus to get them...is far from the city center as well from the bus station (20 minutes each). The rrom are dirty. They clean up them just each 7 days of...

Modest and tiny hotel situated well just 5 min bus ride from Kyoto station and along bus routes. Quiet room facing the back yard. Small bathroom but big enough to for a shower though. Very friendly staff. Will certainly return if we come to Kyoto again. Kyoto-Inn is well worth the money spent.

Staying in Shimogyo-ku

Neighbourhood Profile
Shimogyo-ku
Shimogyo-ku is centered around the busy train hub, Kyoto Station. A nexus for commerce, shopping, dining, and hotels, the Shimogyo-ku area is infused with tourists and local business travelers, making it a competitive location for ever-new commercial structures. The shops and cafes here are chic and trendy, as a result, with many recognizable chains. Commuters flood the Shimogyo-ku area twice a day, and with Kyoto Station itself being a modern mega-complex and an architectural marvel, this neighborhood is one of the most contemporary and energetic areas that the city has to offer. Buildings here look futuristic, and huge department stores, shopping arcades, and public meeting spaces provide every possible convenience. It is also nearly the only place in Kyoto where rooftop dining and socializing is available, completing its modern tone.
