Spent 2 nights at the Hotel Tor Toad . At the very entrance you will find a United Kingdom flag and a car parked next to it ( also with United Kingdom flag stickers on it ) . The lobby is small but designed to look cozy with a fireplace . Room is very small indeed and does need a coat of paint at some places but the comfortable bed and the bathtub makes up for the small size room. Wifi is available in each room . The room tariff is very reasonable , considering the hotels perfect location with restaurants ,shops and bars near by . The hotel is walking distance from Sannomiya station , so from those arriving at the hotel by train , its very convenient . The staff at the reception desk does speak English ( which is a great help for foreigners) . A lovely ( buffet ) breakfast is served at "Little Ann" starting at 7: 00 am . Breakfast can be included in your stay if you do so at the time of booking . Overall , a nice place to stay while you want to look around Kobe city .…
Very impressed with value for money. Not far from all the restaurants, action and subway. Comfortable bed, deep tub, hairdryer etc. We paid about $au85/night. Well worth what we paid. Oh, and matching nightshirts were waiting for us to use. Definite thumbs up
Nice hotel in a good location close to restaurants, shopping attractions and the train station. Helpful staff but fairly limited English. Good sized, clean room but the hotel is a little dated and is due for a makeover.
My wife and I stayed five nights at the Tor Road Hotel and were more than satisfied with our stay. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The double room was somewhat larger than that typically found in a Japanese business hotel and accommodated ourselves and our 2 large suitcases and carryon without causing congestion. The included breakfast was excellent. The location is very convenient, being only a short walk from Sannomiya station, Kitano, Nankin-machi, Motomachi shopping street, and even an easy half-hour walk to Meriken Park and Harborland.
The hotel is close to Kobe Yijinkan area and it is within walking distance from the Sannomiya station Hotel room is rather dated compare with other hotels in the same area. It used antique like design, but could really use an upgrade
We spent a weekend at this hotel, walking distance to Shopping, City Center, Kitano, a Japanese Garden and to a lovely synagogue. The room was small, no English spoken, service was fair, TV was useless to non Japanese Speakers, Great Breakfast and quite surprisingly old fashioned keys. Price was OK.
The hotel and the room are clean, the bad in the room is comfortable and the staff is generous expressing the Japanese culture. The room size is relatively normal when compared to other Japanese hotels of this kind.
Rooms are of decent size. Not so much attention to aesthetics. Rooms are not so clean. They have huge windows though and I like that. TV was not placed in a convenient location if you're lying down. You can get a good night's sleep since its a quiet area. Free wifi in the lobby area. Breakfast is good enough but a little pricey. Overall, it is an okay hotel. Just needs a little restoration.
just like other hotels in Japan, room of Tor Road is small as well. also, like other Japanese hotels, it is quite clean so travellers can stay comfortably. one more, it does not cost a lot!!!
I stayed at the Tor Road Hotel for three nights - over a weekend. The hotel is trying to impress a 'British' theme on its guests, with The Beatles being played on a loop and expensive English tea in the restaurant. My room was on the 3rd floor and has clearly seen better days. Lots of wear and tear and generally it looks in need of a good overhaul. I was placed in a smoking room - which I did not reserve, however aside from a slight odour when I put the fan on in the bathroom the smoke wasn't too noticeable. I had a single bed - and it was a bit narrow so I think if you are on the larger side you might struggle. The walls were not thick either and a lot comes through from the next room. The staff were polite and friendly. The location is probably the main advantage - only 10 min walk from Sannomiya Station or a 10 min 800 yen taxi ride from the shinkansen station. I would probably avoid staying here in the future and there are better/cheaper alternatives nearer to the station. I don't think this is a bad hotel, and you'll probably be OK there - but it is nothing special and a tad overpriced. There is also no Wifi.…
