Quiet, impeccable cleanliness, tasty cuisine for both the buffet and the Chinese restaurant. The breakfast is exceptional both by its variety and its quality. A big thank you to the Hotel Manager and his team who brought us a perfect stay. We will return with great pleasure. Special thanks to Sven, Summer, Ian, Thomas, Sandy and Cate.
Great location next to West lake, good place to stay during warm season. Club lounge has very good warm helpfull staff, breakfast is great. Roof terrace must be rally nice to stay during warm season. View from rooms depends on which side you will get during check in, hotel has only 6 floors so view will be limited.
1) Room was not ready upon check-in: I arrived hotel at 3pm, called them at 2-ish when I departed from airport, still the room I was told not ready when I arrived. Take a look at previous comments and you see that's a trend, which was why I called in advance. 2) Their AC system was literally like GARBAGE: when I realized the AC didn't seem to cool down the room, I called and was told the AC didn't work, after a while the room went up to 27 degree celcius as shown in the picture. Making this worse was that around 11pm when I was about to turn in, an EXTREMELY pungent smell started to fill the room. It was somewhere in between in the middle of a sewage plant and a landfill. I was suffocating in the room, only hoping that the smell didn't give out toxic chemicals that I would forcefully have to breathe in. To tip it off, the AC would constantly make a kind of metal plates vibrating noise, as if it were a 50-year-old building. 3) Their TV system was ridiculous: at the working desk there was a HDMI plug, so I thought this must be the connection to TV. Turned out it was not the case, it was just a decoration. Asked the Front Desk and Housekeeping, no one seemed to know about their in-room facility. At the end, I found out by myself that I had to remove the HDMI behind TV to connect to my own device. Then something funny I found: the TV wouldn't go below 20 degree volume, which was still SUPER loud. Turned out, their Engineering preset the TV to not be able to lower volume below 20, which as I said, was a SUPER loud volume. 4) Wifi speed was average at best: for business traveler it goes without saying that internet connection is very crucial. Here the Wifi was JUST FINE at best. 5) In-room amenities were mostly redundant: for a standard room, they surely put a lot of useless things to occupy the otherwise more spacious room. I had to remove most of them away in order to space out a bit of area on the working desk and on the TV cabinet. On the other hand, what should have been a norm to have yet they don't have, was that while they had two face/hand towels, they only put one shower towel. I just did not get the logic behind, or perhaps their Housekeeping was not managed well by a true hospitality professional. To recap, if you spend this money on a pseudo-Sofitel, there are more than enough options you can consider: teo Shangri-Las not far away, Kempinski, even Oakwood Residence, all are within range and I would be confident to say, a much better hotel. Spoiler alert to all business travelers, stay away from this one. For real. Unless you enjoy the smell of sewage throughout your stay.…
This is the oldest Sofitel I stayed. Hotel upgrade me to a small suite which is nice and clean but inside function is not really friendly. I asked for a luggage rag but hotel didn't have it. Staff are friendly and nice. The building is very old, you will think it is a non-star hotel. Very noise in lobby. Next to west lake but no lake view. Not worth for the price! I booked executive room for RMB2300/2 nights. As a diamond member of Accor hotels. I will not recommend this hotel.
The room is tidy and clean with a very large restroom. The hotel has great location for both Westlake tour and shopping. The pricing is also very competitive. However, remember that you could only get a card after 2pm on the first day of your stay. This rule is very strict for this hotel.
