This is a review that has been a long time waiting. I stayed at the Intercontinental Hangzhou about 2 years ago in February 2018, in the middle of winter. But I still remember my experience til this day, hence the late review. For Tripadvisor's sake, I will say I travelled in Feb 2020. Intercontinental Hangzhou, distinguishable by a huge golden ball (which looks like a bright moon in the night). A symbol of I-don't-know-what, but it looks really cool. Location: Just a stone's throw away from the Civic Centre train station, literally out of the station and you cannot miss it. For the adventurous, just a short walk will take you to a shopping mall, Raffles City Centre, which will remind you of the Raffles City in Singapore. Hotel Lobby: Upon entering the main lobby of the hotel, you will realize that the property is catered more for meetings and conventions. The reception itself is located on a different floor. At the reception level, the breakfast restaurant and a bar is located side by side where one can enjoy a quiet evening of drinks, whilst staring at the unique architecture of the building. Check-In: Took longer than usual as we arrived before check in time. The team was young with quite a few staff on training. Nevertheless, they speak sufficient english to maintain a basic conversation and can help with most issues. Duty Manager Duke was most helpful throughout the process. Room: I was lucky enough to get an upgrade to a Deluxe Riverview room, which had a wide view of the Qiantang River. Being winter, the snowfall gave the surroundings a nice white view. Beds were of Intercontinental Standard. A huge bathroom area! Gym/Pool: The gym and pool were on the top floor of the hotel, next to the club lounge. Gym was well equipped, but during the winter days, there seemed to be a lack of heating. Pool area was heated and given the top floor location, provided great views over the river as well. Club Lounge: We got the club lounge package for 1 night only, which allowed us to enjoy the cocktail and canapes hour in the evening with free flow of alcohol and light bites. Although we probably ate like a full course dinner. Food was excellent and tasty. Alcohol offerings were pretty standard. Service however, was impeccable. When I wanted to make a mojito myself, and realized there weren't any mint leaves at the bar, a staff member went to the kitchen on the reception floor to get a spring of mint, which I then used to make a mojito and chat up the staff at the same time! Great service. Breakfast: Breakfast was also included in the Club Lounge package. Opt to have breakfast at the restaurant instead. Granted that it is more noisy and loud, the offerings at the restaurant are about 3-4x more than at the Club Lounge. But if you like your peace and quiet in the morning, the Club Lounge would be the place for you. There was a good mix of local dishes and international cuisines available, and being winter, we definitely filled our bellies to the brim. Overall: Fantastic property in the heart of Hangzhou. There isn't much to do in the surrounding areas, didn't explore much either due to it being winter. But hey, it's an Intercontinental. Enjoy it!…
First visit to Hangzhou with hubs and child. Large room with plenty of room for extra bed. Spacious bathroom with tub with large lounge area to relax. Not the most vegetarian friendly hotel. Vegetarian food offering during breakfast or buffet dinner was very limited. However they do have a signage for for vegetarians to request/inform for more food. Most enjoyable is the service. We had top Notch customer service at the member area; from offering ginger tea to us for our flu to our train tickets booking. Well done to Miranda and teammates!
Thank you Becky and Zhao ge for serving us . Also special mention about the front desk Robin . Thank you so much for everything. The best Best service that we have since we visit China. Keep it up!!!!!
When we arrived it was just next to the road contraction that time, the entrance was huge, we were staying for 3 days 2 nights. We know about this hotel because most of the no. 1 leaders have stayed here during the G20 and by its unique building shape round almost like a ball. I went up to my room with the elevator and you could see the amazing view inside the building. When I enter the room, I was amaze by its space sooo spacious. It has small walking wall-drop, next to it is en-suite bathroom where it has glass wall overlooking directly to your bedroom, the view from the room is overlooking to the Hangzou city and to the Qiantang river. You have so many options for your breakfast too. the down part is English with the room service, we ordered fried rice in the evening and it was delivered after 45 minutes and WHAT!!!! it was PANINI, the waiter said will change it, as we were to hungry then we accepted the panini instead of waiting another 45 minutes. I order extra mineral water, it was about midnight and my friend was sleeping. the guy who delivered the 2 bottle of water was rang the bell like 100 times without stopping, and stop only until the time I opened the door. Never expect someone will ring your door that way like something very urgent and danger happen outside the door. WHY!! You may seen it a 5 star hotel from its building and facilities but not on their service, I hope you could train batter on your service so this will not happen again to other guests who stays at your hotel.…
The hotel structure is very unique and the room are nice and comfortable. The lobbyis at 5th floor. At check-in, Chloe was very nice and help me to arrange a higher floor room. I got a river view room and it was very nice. The room is big and bed is comfortable. Next to the hotel is an outlet mall and the Hangzhou Opera House.
