We just left hantang house hostel after a four night stay. It was ridiculously low priced, clean, close to the centre and the staff spoke english. There was a buffet on sat night which was really nice of them, and they put things on nearly every night of the week. make your own dumplings, live music etc etc. We saw... More

The most friendly, hospitable and atmospheric place I stayed in China. The staff arebrilliant, the beers cold and p.enty to choose from including Belgium and British, and as everyone else has mentioned, a fantastic location. The only thing letting it down is the food. Honestly the worst food I ate in China, possibly the world. I would have loved to... More

Great location literally around the corner of all the major attractions, bell tower, drum tower, Muslim quarter/mosque, city wall, shopping. Hotel staff are wonderful and helpful, speak good English. Room nice and big with good bathroom. No complaints.

Eventhough Hantang House is located in an alley, our taxi driver had no problem finding the hotel. There was welcome drink when we arrived at the hotel. The staffs speak good English. They have very helpful map for our guidance in Xi'an. This hotel located near shopping malls. Bell Tower, Drum Tower and Muslim Quarter can be reached on foot.... More

Stayed for 3 nights. Extremely central to the Bell and Drum Towers. Also the Muslim Quarter is close. The south gate of the city walls is walking distance. Cheap taxi ride to the Main Railway Station where you take he bus to the Terra cotta Warriors. The place has great ambience and the staff are friendly. The room is well... More

This place was great. I went on their tour to the terracotta warriors and our guide Jaja (pronounced yeah yeah) was really informative and saved the best for last. She also let us try the tea ceremony as we had time which I really enjoyed! The hostel itself had lovely staff too, and a beautiful dog called Lady! Food was... More

China can be crazy, Xi'an too, but this hostel is comfortable, clean, stylish, and the staff are welcoming and helpful. The food in the restaurant is delicious, and the bar area is a nice place to relax after a day, or a night on the town. I have stayed here many times, and will again. The dorms beds are large... This place is sweet, very close to the bus stops, has great customer service, great english speakers, great food, etc. It is initially a bit difficult to find but very easy to navigate the city once you do.

Like me, you might have seen Lonely Planet's statement that Hantang House has "some of the most comfortable beds in China." It also has some of the least comfortable beds. I know, because there were four of us in a four-bed room, and two were absolutely miserable -- so hard that people woke up with shoulder aches! So, the good,... More

We went here just for a drink in the bar as there are very few bars in the town. Had happy hour on so prices were good. The server had very good English. There are squat toilets so avoid if you don't like using them. Nobody else in the bar so not much atmosphere
