We booked a 2-single bed executive deluxe room for 3 pax. The room and bathroom were spacious! You can add another 3 bodies comfortably! We arrived at the Hotel at 9+am. Contractually the Hotel only needed to give us a room at 2pm. The Hotel requested us to wait till 11am as they were preparing our room. We had a local breakfast and in no time, we had an early check-in! The Hotel location was very favourable. Within 15 mins of walk, there are Huangsha Station (Metropolitan Plaza) and Culture Park Station in the South and Changshou Station (Hengbao Plaza) in the North. To the South, there is Shamian Island with lots of colonial buildings and floral gardens. Enroute to Shamain Island, you would walk past Qingping Road where there are a lot of Chinese herbal & medicinal shops. Local food is abundant on Di Shi Fu Road. Stinky tofu food stores can be overwhelmed to some people but this adds an unique "scent". Front desk, security staff and house-keeping maids were courteous! They were always attentive. The concierge was always busy but there was a good teamwork: the front desk staff stepped in to assist when the concierge was was swamped with customers. Wireless internet was free, but the speed could be slow at times. As it was free, we were ok with it. An area for improvement is probably the toilet bowl. Everytime you flushed, it gave out a foul smell. We used our perfume to freshen up the bathroom. We could handle this minor problem ourselves, so no big issue there.…
The location of the hotel is excellent with a good restaurant, Guangzhou Restaurant, just round the corner and the vibrant pedestrian street below. It is also close to Qingping Market and Shamian Island. The front desk staff were all friendly and polite. The reservation agent, Stephanie, was prompt in replying when I emailed the hotel regarding the room charges. It was resolved promptly and efficiently without fuss. I like my room very much- it was beautiful, very spacious and comfortable with a good view of the pedestrian street below. Everything in my room worked. It was clean, bed very comfortable and shower consistently hot. The hotel is value for money.
hotel is centrally located and not far away from the Yuexiu park, which is a very good place to have a walk. The only thing I don't like is the smell downstairs. I think it is because of the food market nearby.
Sarah and I checked into Holiday Inn Guangzhou Shifu for the first time. We were pleasantly surprised by the room size and cleanliness. The quality of service by the front desk executives and the room boy was also very good. I must commend the talented room boy who took the initiative to make different figurines of animals using towels everyday. It was a very nice gesture.
My wife and I traveled to Guangzhou to visit with friends and to expand some networking opportunities. We stayed 10 evenings. The location has its pluses and minuses. Pluses: the hotel is on a wonderful shopping/food Main Street. There is a 7-11 immediately outside the entrance of the hotel. There is food right there! Minus: we had friends and local taxis (Didi) pick us up each day. The location is difficult to get to as there as only small roads able for drops off, pick up. Access to the hotel via car is... difficult. Because of this, if you have an important pick up for business during the rush hours, I would recommend booking a half hour early. The buffet breakfast costs around 65RMB or around $10 per person. I cannot comment on the quality as I didn’t eat there. Food options are limited prior to 10:15 on the shopping area, so the buffet may be best if you’re looking to eat before you head out. Not 15 meters from the entrance door from the hotel is a large food court (open around 10:15). Lots of local dishes and tasty food. Although some have commented that the area stinks (from the stinky tofu), my wife and I didn’t find this to be the case. During the open times of the food court there are smells and they are of the local cuisine, but they were very enticing! Our room was a suite and very comfortable. Laundry was expensive, so we decided to do our own laundry in the tub. Laundry, however, is available. My wife smokes and she could do this up at the pool level, very comfortable. The street is busy/exciting, but also noisy, the pool area has a nice lounge area (no bar open when we were there) and is a nice breather away (14th floor - top floor) from the fast pace down below. Very friendly staff. I didn’t have the need to interact much with them, but they were all very friendly. There were spots on the carpet of our room, but I felt the room was kept up well. I felt it was clean. I would recommend international visitors load some money on the “tour pass” option of Alipay. All shops will take this currency.. ALL shops. This makes your shopping/eating experience a lot .... smoother. I felt very safe throughout the experience (from the USA) and found that the Chinese people see safe environments as a basic human right. The reason I mention this, some of the more diverse shopping options can be found on some of the side streets a little off the Main Street. The closet space may strike foreigners as “unsafe” but we’re projecting our experiences of other countries. I get safe throughout my experiences in these small alleyways and streets. Don’t be afraid to bargain... some of the sport here in China markets. Overall, would stay here again, but may explore more options for pick-up/drop off during the stay. Would also explore the metro a bit more - very handy in Guangzhou, very western friendly, and a short walk away. I wouldn’t recommend the walk with luggage, however.…
My first visit at Ghonzhou and I opted for stay at Holiday Inn .. Good hotel surrounded by typical Chinese local market with great food options .. Hotel rooms are spacious , comfortable ,clean with reasonable facilities . Staff are cooperative though English language as communication is a challenge
My first time in Guangzhou before heading to Hong Kong again next week. Rooms are clean and tidy, the staff are friendly and helpful. Easy to find a good Cantonese food nearby. The hotel is located in the old side of the city but it's still was very convenient to go around. I will recomend it for sure I will stay here again.
Stayed at this hotel for many years (10+) and this year has been the worst. After 2 days of arriving (for an 9 day stay) there was no more Barardi in the lobby bar. I leave tomorrow and still no Barcardi and we have had 2 days of no soda water available. What is going on! The hotel is no way near full and I would not expect these items to run out and not be replaced. The carpet in our executive room is so stained it needs replacing. It’s disgusting!
Room was very good - brightly lit and good bed. Nothing much to complain except for the room service which took a pretty longer time to deliver few extra water bottles. There are no separate bed lamps but a master switch to switch off all except bathroom and a foot light. the hotel is located on a very popular shopping street and had lots of food options on the street. we dint know where the ATMs were located but eventually found out with a little difficulty. The ATMs are not 24/7. It is better to carry cash or even better to activate alipay or wechat since most shops prefer those. The hotel has an currency exchange vending machine. But it did not accept Singapore Dollar.
The lobby of this hotel and the restaurant are great. But the moment you go to your floor you will see what all the other travelers are complaining. The smell of the hall way is terrible and so was our room. This hotel needs an upgrade asap. The carpet looks and smells like 20 years old not cleaned. And the furniture in the room also. If used to american standards avoid this place. We checked in and when we checked out the same tissue dirty on the floor was still same location. I left it to see if it would ever be cleaned. And was not floor 12. The room was huge but so stuffy and dirty that it was uncomfortable. But the reasaurant buffet was very good and the service of the staff gracious.
