Room very poor and old fashioned. Bathroom in poor condition. Breakfast simple - no fish or vegetables. In the downstairs nightclub, watch out for thieves. I will newer to this hotel again. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
There was a strong, bad smell in the room and in the toilet. The breakfast was very basic, almost nothing for vegetarians. The only positive thing was free water bottles found in the room and a possibility to fill them with cool fresh water.
I had two rooms during my stay. The luxury is certainly worth the little extra. Overall though it had a dated feel, but this is small backwater town Russia so you can't expect it to be too cosmopolitan. Sound travelled well but thankfully conscientious guests whilst I stayed there. Food was good although the menu limited. Staff however were friendly, helpful and make you feel welcome and that makes up for an awful lot. I would stay there again, but the bigger rooms are a must.
When you go to the hotel, you can smell old Russia hotel smell. This hotel is located right in the centre. There is hotel own little restaurant, here is breakfast in a morning and lobby bar. Staff was absolutely kind and nice. Staff speak little English. Breakfast was meager but you can eat stomach full, you should taste everything. The pickles was very good on the bread. Room was slightly worn out but everything works. The pillows were weak. But, if you travel with a little money and you do not expect a luxury hotel, this is it. This is still clean, warm, friendly and very best location.
I guess Vyborg hotel is what you can expect from a non-luxury hotel in the poorly developed periphery of Russia. The smell in the room, or especially in the bathroom, was such that probably people who are sensitized to mold maybe should not choose this hotel... but if you are not looking for luxury and gourmet food, this is OK.
