Stayed for one night, tried to check-in early and was given the chance of doing that for 50% of the overnight room cost (for 3 hours), which was disappointing considering my room was ready as the keys had already been prepared so it was just a money making scheme (perhaps I am too used to the rest of Asia where they tend to let you check-in early anyway if they could). Room was satisfactory, a bed and ok bathroom, though with very cheap toiletries. Main disappointment was the breakfast, which was served in a random small depressing room on the 3rd floor and would be politely described as very Russian (a few bits of cold meat, very sweet drinks, more focused on tea and hard bread) and therefore not particularly edible for a westerner. Downstairs and where I thought you'd get breakfast was a nice cafe/canteen where the food looked way better and there was a view. Personally I would not bother with breakfast at the hotel and eat at the canteen. I won't return to this hotel, even though it has a good location that is convenient for a tourist being in the middle of town and right next to a number of sights.…
I have stayed here many times since 2001 - lost count Decor may be tired but it is spotlessly clean Good size of room Good bed Well appointed bathroom Plenty of hot water Great bath towels Breakfast- supplied - bordering on basic Great location with plenty of restaurants nearby; near the coast and a 24 hour supermarket. Definitely built in the days of elegance - pre Czarist Russia Great welcoming and friendly staff
I stayed at this hotel for business. The staffs welcomed us and very comfortable. Actually facility and breakfast is rather soviet style, but acceptable. The location is quite good and you can access easily to sightseeing place and entertainment area.
First of all when we made our reservations, we were given no other choice than taking the most expensive room, but since we would be coming from a trip on the Trans-Siberian, we wanted to stay in a comfortable place. The room was big and recently remodeled as well as the slick bathroom with a great bathtub. The knob of the bathtub was not operating and we couldn't drain the tub after our first shower. Moreover, there were only two bath towels, one was decent, but the other one was a worn out thin piece of cloth which was probably a floor towel... There was nothing in the fridge, not even the two regular water bottles we normally get in most hotels including Russian hotels. We learned later that the old opened plastic gallon of water (almost empty) is indeed the complimentary water that this four star hotel offers to its guests...! Going to bed, we found out that one pillow was stained with blood and the sheets weren't the freshest sheets one can expect in such category of hotels. We had also read bad reviews about the breakfast, but frankly, that was OK compared to the rest. What was even less acceptable, is that coming back the second day in the evening, the room looked like somebody had just shaken our bed without changing anything, one pillow was missing and the bathroom had again an unmatched set of shabby towels... It is important to say that our numerous calls to the front-desk were always promptly answered by a staff that was trying to help. Special thanks to Alexander who is a very professional and kind night front-desk Manager and Katia (not sure of her name?) who is the G.M.; they really tried to help. It seems that this mess was out of their hands and improvements can only be decided by the owner. The hotel is in a super convenient location and that is probably enough to satisfy the clientele. Again, this part of Russia has recently opened to mass tourism, some countries like Korea don't even need a Visa and there is more demands than services available. We would love to try again, because the hotel really has a potential and we hope the direction can adjust the service or at least the price to the service and this is why I have to sadly give that terrible review mark...…
This hotel is located at center of town. Street in front of hotel, there are many restaurants and bars. Hotel staff is kindness. Hotel facilities is old as looks of building, but I think it is historical atmosphere. I think this hotel is good for sightseeing and short stay.
