Business trip. Denied check-in, since the duty manager seemed to make up her own migration laws. Finally accepted to check-in after a full hour of hassle. Really bad. And the next day power outage for hours on end. The evacuation stairs are without emergency light, which is very unsafe & supposedly a breach of the law.

Dear andyA8076QL, First of all let me thank you for your feedback. Comments like this allow us to evaluate our services and facilities in order to strive for the highest standards expected. We are sorry you had such uncomfortable issues during your last visit but I shall note that my colleague's actions were justified within the framework of Russian legislation. We follow all the rules of the migration policy with special seriousness, and sometimes we need more time to consider individual cases. Indeed, in connection with the accident at the city power plant, the hotel's electricity and water supply were cut off. However, we can assure you that the entire hotel team was maximally involved in eliminating the consequences, as well as in building communication with guests, providing all the necessary assistance to them in navigation and all emerging issues, making every effort to restore the hotel's activities as quickly as possible, with full understanding and attention to the difficult situation of each guest. The hotel team is sincerely worried about the incident, and very much hopes for your understanding in connection with the extreme situation as well as for your return. With sincere concern for you, Alan Galiakberov, Guest Service & Project Manager

Dear F0minagen, Thank you for your review and comments regarding slow check-in procedures. Unfortunately in Russia we have very strict migration law and we are obliged to copy and scan your passport including every page in order to send it to migration officer. Therefore the c/I process could take longer than in other countries. Please accept our apologies. As for the c/o - here you can only drop your key in a special box and then you receive your docs by e-mail. We shall be happy to welcome you another time and shall our best to make all the procedures as fast as possible. Kind regards, Alexandra Stryukova General Manager

Reception was empty, when i entered the hotel. Had to look for someone. My booking was confirmed and payed but hotel staff could not find it for 3 hours. Advised me to go for a walk, and come back at 8 pm. The worst reception staff. Room was with the window but window faced the old wall 1miter way, bed sheets had someones black hair on it. Don't be surprised, if on the breakfast you will see hotel staff trying to squeeze you, to get coffee first from the machine. I guess they (hotel staff) have a tradition to have breakfast all together with the guests. Looks like they usually getting the biggest table and dine together. But some are getting late for the breakfast fest, so in rush to catch up with colleagues they will never mind to push you aside, from the coffee mashine. What a lay back hotel managment. Looks like it's a dream job for employees but if you pay money for the room --- surprise waiting for you! The only good about this hotel is location, no doubts.

I have stayed at the hotel a number of times, and each time I am captivated by the friendliness and genuine warmth of the staff - starting with the reception area, the security, the management team, everyone is ever so inviting and good-hearted. The hotel is also impeccably clean, has warm showers, the beds are exceptionally comfortable and generally - I could not recommend it enough.

Dear teddyroussel, Thank you for sharing your opinion about staying at our ibis Moscow Centre Bakhrushina. I am very happy that you enjoyed provided service. We do regret that you found the room too small and we will be happy to provide you a room with street view next time because such one seems bigger thanks to day light from outside. But mostly our rooms are the same size (about 17 square meters/bedroom). We will be glad to see you again! Warm regards, Valeriya Kozlova Guest experience Manager

“The team at ibis Moscow Centre Bakhrushina are looking forward to welcoming you” – an extract from email received prior to our stay At no time did we feel welcome ! Having stayed in this hotel previously and contributed to them receiving the “2017 Tripadvisor Certificate of Excellence “ which is hung in the reception area, the hotel is now resting on their laurels. Whilst most of the current reviews are glowing of this property, there are a few reviewers daring to speak the truth. marekj856 wrote a review Apr. 2019 “Unfriendly place. Strange service. You are there a number not a person. The people working there some months ago were not anymore visible” Another said “despite the low staff quality” Ranjan_K_Singh said “Some Water?” When we were making the reservations earlier this year, paying for rooms in advance for 3 different periods resulted in receiving unsolicited email requesting payment on some obscure portal – not the usual Accor website. Having made numerous Accor reservations over the years in several locations, this request caused me anxiety regarding my credit card security. During this recent trip staying in Accor hotels in Russia in 4 locations, this ibis hotel was the only one where we experienced problems with check-in – and on all 3 occasions with similar issues – specifically being allowed access into the room before the 1400 hrs. We were offered check in prior if we were prepared to pay for it – so there were obviously rooms available. At the third time staying at this hotel , we were “offered” the possibility of a room being available around 10 – 11 AM. After a 4 ½ hour wait to 12:30 hours and seeing other guests arrive and get checked in straight to their room around 11:30 hours – and the male reception person that made the offer to us, had conveniently disappeared. When I challenged the current manager and said “it needs to work both ways – if we check out at 1000 hrs where check out time is 1200 hrs – you are only too happy to accept this benefit”. Furthermore, I had received an email saying “your key will be ready for you when you arrive”. This was misleading and a false statement. BEDS ! branded Sweet Bed thin mattress on top of another with saggy edges - resulted in me falling out of bed one night. TAXI 600 Rubble for what was 400 Rubble 3 years ago – a 50% increase for same destination . Seemed to be Collusion with hotel and their chosen taxi service. Ibis recommended taxi services in 3 other cities in Russia cost only 120 to 180 Rubble for similar distances traveled. WATER – Accor policy in other hotels to only supply water upon arrival but requests to room service staff / reception was always met without fuss in other hotels stayed. In this hotel, a request for water from house keeping seemed to be a major ordeal and met with “ contact reception “. On this absurd policy, if I had made 3 separate reservations for 3 continuing nights, management would have had the expense of fully serving the rooms each day AND had to provide 2 NEW waters each day. BAR CLOSED – advised to go to the adjacent Mercure Hotel Bar - where at 1800 hrs – the bar- man had his head buried in the computer - walked past us 3 times totally ignoring our presence seated at the bar. Record keeping questionable with reception staff refusing to issue tax invoice in my name saying a another member of our group of 3 had paid for the accommodation – which was incorrect. They would only agree upon seeing my wife’s credit card. The manager seemed to be very young for her role and by her own admission, had been the manager for only 2 weeks. It was apparent she knows little about hospitality – only towing the ibis corporate line (“We must strictly follow the standards our region sets us” ) and did not offer solutions to issues affecting guests – could not think laterally outside the corporate box and only ever offered excuses. Ultimate responsibility for staff performance must lay with the manager and other issues such as the reception staff with their heads always buried in computers and house-keeping / room service coming to our room at 1700 hrs and 1800 hrs - when many guests are in the room preparing to go out for evening would indicate insufficient staff numbers.

Dear Beenaroundthailand, Let me comment on the aspects that seem to have dissatisfied you. ‘When we were making the reservations earlier this year, paying for rooms in advance for 3 different periods resulted in receiving unsolicited email requesting payment on some obscure portal – not the usual Accor website. Having made numerous Accor reservations over the years in several locations, this request caused me anxiety regarding my credit card security.’ Indeed, you had to pay for his reservations online. Reason being, you booked several rooms. As the rate at which you booked was prepaid, we could not process the payments without a proper confirmation, which could only be achieved by either entering a pin-code or a 3D-Secure verification code (APOL is not introduced in Russia yet due to legislative reasons). That is why an online payment link was sent so you could pay securely and verify the transactions before his actual arrival to hotel. ‘During this recent trip staying in Accor hotels in Russia in 4 locations, this ibis hotel was the only one where we experienced problems with check-in – and on all 3 occasions with similar issues – specifically being allowed access into the room before the 1400 hrs. We were offered check in prior if we were prepared to pay for it – so there were obviously rooms available. At the third time staying at this hotel , we were “offered” the possibility of a room being available around 10 – 11 AM. After a 4 ½ hour wait to 12:30 hours and seeing other guests arrive and get checked in straight to their room around 11:30 hours – and the male reception person that made the offer to us, had conveniently disappeared.’ There is a paid service in our hotel, which allows a guest to check-in prior to the usual time of 14:00. It is up to the guest to decide whether to make use of it, or to simply store his luggage and return to hotel later. We usually start checking in as soon as 12:00 if availability allows us, which we did 12:30 in your case. The other persons you mention, were either guests, who were supposed to arrive the day before, paid for an early check-in, or had a gold Le Club card, which grants such service for free. ‘Furthermore, I had received an email saying “your key will be ready for you when you arrive”. This was misleading and a false statement.’ The text referred to the ‘online check-in’ service, which meant exactly that – the key was ready. Ready to be kindly handed over to our guest at the standard time of check-in, which was mentioned in the confirmation of reservation. ‘BEDS ! branded Sweet Bed thin mattress on top of another with saggy edges - resulted in me falling out of bed one night’ To our knowledge, the beds in our hotel are certified according to the international standards of ibis hotels and get regularly checked and replaced if need be. Not a single time you addressed the reception with complaints about bedding quality, otherwise we would have offered a solution to this issue. ‘TAXI 600 Rubble for what was 400 Rubble 3 years ago – a 50% increase for same destination . Seemed to be Collusion with hotel and their chosen taxi service. Ibis recommended taxi services in 3 other cities in Russia cost only 120 to 180 Rubble for similar distances travelled’ The cost of taxi services in Russia heavily depends on various factors, such as the country region, individual pricing policy, time of the day, type of a car, etc. Have you opted for an economy fare by using, say, Uber app, indeed the price could have been quite less. In our case, we provide the fare of 600 RUB per 20 min. and 6 RUB per each consecutive minute, comfort class, which was chosen by you despite it being much higher than he originally anticipated. ‘WATER – Accor policy in other hotels to only supply water upon arrival but requests to room service staff / reception was always met without fuss in other hotels stayed. In this hotel, a request for water from house keeping seemed to be a major ordeal and met with “ contact reception “. On this absurd policy, if I had made 3 separate reservations for 3 continuing nights, management would have had the expense of fully serving the rooms each day AND had to provide 2 NEW waters each day’ As per our standards, we welcome our guests with a refreshing set of two bottles of water once per stay. Afterwards, the guests can make use of the room service to order more, or buy another at the bar. This being said, three consecutive reservation would count as one exactly to avoid making our guests create multiple bookings for a single stay. ‘BAR CLOSED – advised to go to the adjacent Mercure Hotel Bar - where at 1800 hrs – the bar- man had his head buried in the computer - walked past us 3 times totally ignoring our presence seated at the bar.’ The entirety of our staff are highly trained and enthusiastic about their job, so this is indeed an unusual situation. We regret you were at some point not noticed by our barman and would like to assure you that it is an ultimate exception rather than standard of service in our hotel. ‘Record keeping questionable with reception staff refusing to issue tax invoice in my name saying a another member of our group of 3 had paid for the accommodation – which was incorrect. They would only agree upon seeing my wife’s credit card.’ We invoice our guests according to the information taken from their profiles. If one person pays for another and wishes to be invoiced for two rooms, we can only do so after checking that the person in question indeed paid for both rooms. ‘The manager seemed to be very young for her role and by her own admission, had been the manager for only 2 weeks. It was apparent she knows little about hospitality – only towing the ibis corporate line (“We must strictly follow the standards our region sets us” ) and did not offer solutions to issues affecting guests – could not think laterally outside the corporate box and only ever offered excuses.’ On occasions that our manager on duty communicated with you, she only ever offered solutions. For example, during his first stay we managed to provide one of your companions with a premium room, since at the time of high occupancy the standard rooms were overbooked. The premium room was equipped with a kettle, and standard room, to your dismay, was not. On top of that there was the issue with you were wishing to check in as early as 09:00 during the absence of available rooms. Our manager did her best to kindly explain the situation, prioritized the preparation of room for you (although you chose not to wait and checked in later instead) and even provided you with complementary kettle of tea with cookies to remedy your outrage somewhat. ‘Ultimate responsibility for staff performance must lay with the manager and other issues such as the reception staff with their heads always buried in computers and house-keeping / room service coming to our room at 1700 hrs and 1800 hrs - when many guests are in the room preparing to go out for evening would indicate insufficient staff numbers.’ The housekeeping usually takes place between 10:00 and 18:00, and depending on the scheduled work, one or the other room may get made sooner or as late as 18:00, which may disturb the guests in some cases, but then it is always possible to postpone the housekeeping or simply make it quick by changing the towels and emptying trash-bins. Hope all your other stays worldwide would be only perfect ones, Kind regards, Alexandra Stryukova General Manager

Good location. Walking distance to metro station to get around the city, and also walking distance to train station to get to airport. Decent hotel, clean rooms, good breakfast. A bit hard to communicate with staff members in English on more difficult topics (for example we needed help to book a tour but they couldn't understand) however it was Ok for more general enquiries (e.g. WiFi password, breakfast start time, etc).

Dear billho2019, Thank you for sharing your opinion about staying at our ibis Moscow Centre Bakhrushina. Your feedback is very important for us! I am glad that you found our location suitable for you and enjoyed your stay in general. I am a little surprised to hear that you had some difficulties during communication with our front office team members because all our employees speak English well. Our hotel does not provide concierge service including tour booking. My colleagues can give recommendations about them. But I will pass your comment to our Front Office team in the way to investigate it. We do appreciate your warm feedback and look forward to welcoming you back at ibis!
