There are a few things which combined to create an "inhospitable" environment in a business which should be striving for the opposite. 1) The "security" staff on the ground floor are too numerous, not professionally dressed and act rudely. They eye up guests rather than welcome them, and challenge guests to produce their documents (addressing them only in Russian, not... More

I stayed for one night, without breakfast. As other reviews have already pointed out, the location is excellent, only 2 minutes away from a metro station. The Belorussky railway station is also within walking distance. This hotel lived up to my expectations. It's certainly past its heyday and could do with some modernisation. The lifts are small and old, and... More

Well. yes the location is fabulous, and eventhough the hotel is old, it doesn´t bothers me, but the old russian feeling does. There was some smell from the sewer ( 5th floor ) , breakfast was so russian and the smell in the room reminds me of the soviet union years. After few minutes staying in the room I got... More

Dear Tiina R, thank you for taking the time to review your experience with us at the Hotel Peking. We stayed five nights in this 1949 build hotel. It is an ikonic building next to the Mayakowskaja subway station. The rooms are clean and if you like carpets everything is ok. The location is a bit noisy as it is surrounded by busy Moscou traffic. If you close the window you almost hear nothing. We booked without breakfast because... More

The Pekin Hotel is a centrally-located, historic hotel. The architecture of the building, Stalinist classicism, stands out, and there is no difficulty finding the place. The location of the hotel is excellent, just across the road from the Mayakovskaya metro station - one of the more beautiful of Moscow's metro stations - and only about 20 mins. walk along the... This restaurant is well located in Moscow and it has a metro station just across the street that makes it very convenient. It is not a 5 star hotel and during my last visit the quality was down but they were already renovating it. In short don't expect too much but it's a good solution.

We had a wonderful stay in this grand old hotel. Staff were exceptional, room was very clean and extremely spacious, decked out in "yesteryear" fashion...we loved it! Stayed for business. The rooms were spacious and clean. Hotel was fairly good however street noise can be a problem for light sleepers. Breakfast was a bit over priced for the options given. Overall a good stay.

Staying in Presnensky

Neighbourhood Profile
Presnensky
The neighborhood is divided into two major halves by Krasnaya Presnya street: the southern part highlights Moscow city – businesses contained in skyscrapers along with the White House - where the Russian government works. The north is a bit more relaxed and casual, visitors here will find the Moscow zoo, National Centre for Contemporary Arts and a number of fine restaurants. The beautiful neo-gothic Cathedral of the Roman Catholic Church of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary is usually packed with the events such as organ music concerts.
