The lodge itself is very well laid out and very clean. Travelers have to climb 150+ stairs when they arrive and it is very difficult for the average person carrying a 30lb back pack. There is an alternate way of entering the lodge but it is for the porters only. Once you climb the stairs there is a 15 minute...

I stayed here for 4 nights on a girls only friends trip and loved it!! I secretly wanted to steal the hotel managers job and just move in and live there. :) It was far more luxurious than I expected for being a lodge in the middle of the rainforest. Had lots of amenities, from massages and a gift shop...

Don't worry about the bugs, they keep them out of the lodge somehow! This open-air sleeping experience is not to be missed. The food is buffet style, but very well prepared. The staff is super friendly (we loved our adventure guides), the rooms are well accommodated, the limited electricity is more than enough, the bar is well stocked and the...

We had a fantastic experience at this resort. The boat ride to resort is beautiful and a great chance to see animals. During our ride we saw an anaconda. The food was amazing. Fresh cooked with fresh ingredients. They had numerous water stations around the resort. The rooms were spacious and beds had mosquito netting. Loved the rainforest shower. Our...

Our family of 2 adults and 4 kids loved our time here. Our guide, Robin, showed us so much of the rainforest in the short time we were here. We loved hearing about the flora as well as seeing caiman, piranhas, macaw, a tarantula (!) and so much more. The rooms were so different to anywhere else we have stayed...

I have to say this is a very unique experience as a globally well travelled mid 60 year old I was expecting this to be a challenge physically but was completely unprepared for the experience which has been well documented in the review by us3345632 Our group travelled in from Lima and if you do you can expect to be...

Spent 3 nights at this place (and we've spent 3 nights in another jungle lodge in Iquitos, also very remote and similar price point, so we have to review the Refugio according to its peers). We were prepared for the bugs, for the rain, for the heat. What we weren't prepared for was the following: 1) The thing is set...

Refugio Amazonas is 2.5 hours up-river so you know you are "away from it all". The only sounds around you are the sounds of nature - birds, monkeys. The climate is very humid, so no need for windows, just mosquito nets at night. And this adds to the exotic nature of the stay. Other plusses include comfortable beds, rooms located...

After the incredible boat trip up the river, where we saw wildlife and birds, we climbed up the bank, and trekking through the jungle we came around a corner to this open space with this enormous, beautiful open structure of REFUGIO. A most welcoming, spectacular sight. We were welcomed and asked to take off our shoes and had the next...

Refugio Amazonas is the latest addition to Rainforest Expeditions Tambopata portfolio. As a charming 32 bedroom lodge, it is well placed immediately adjacent to the Tambopata National Reserve. Its location is ideal for stand alone three night experiences and for breaking the expeditions to and from Tambopata Research Center. Refugio Amazonas is built on a 200 hectare private reserve on the buffer zone of the Tambopata National Reserve.
