When visting Panama, don't miss going to Taboga and staying at the Cerrito Tropical! The island of Taboga is about 30 minutes by boat which leaves every day. Taboga is called the Island of the Flowers and lives up to its name. Throughout the small village you will a wide variety of tropical flowers. One of the gems of Taboga is El Cerrito Tropical - a wonderful small hotel where you can rest and enjoy the tropical surroundings. We had booked the apartment which has 2 bedrooms with a balcony looking out over the town onto the bay. When we arrived in the morning, the manager/chef met us at the dock and helped us with our luggage to the hotel. (I would recommend supporting the local taxi -a small pick up truck. The climb up to the hotel was murder on our legs.) Once we were

This time we wanted to visit Isla Taboga on our trip to Panama. In search for a good hotel on this island, I came on the website of Cerrito Tropical. Pictures and information looked good to me so I booked for 1 night. Finally we got there : and indead, it was great. 1 big mistake : I only booked for 1 night. Great rooms, great meals, great view (ships waiting to enter the Canal + Panama City), helpfull Aristides, .... We wanted to see the poison frogs (Dendrobates auratus) on this island and in fact we didn't have to search very far. They were jumping already behind the hotel. The only negative thing I can say is : I was hoping to see the owner there (who speaks English and who I had contact with on e-mail) but the hotel was run by Aristides and his wife (who don't speak

Don't believe the info easily retrievable that there are no restaurants on this island. There are a few, but fortunately we had most of our meals from the chef/manager of the Cerrito Tropical Hotel/B & B, Aristide. He is an excellent cook and much better than we found elsewhere on the island. The rooms are better than expected with tile floors & air conditioning. The top floor apts. which we booked had a view of a hundred or more ships across the ocean waiting to enter Panama Canal. Beautiful. The service was quite good and the price very reasonable. The problems were few. The shower on the top floor had no hot water. (The island has some water difficulties on the whole but the downstairs apts. did have hot showers. The grounds as elsewhere on this island don't exist

I highly recommend this gorgeous Bed & Breakfast on Isla Taboga. Everything was perfect from the accommodations to the 5-star cuisine carefully prepared by resident Chef and Manager - Aristedes (and wife Valentina). Cynthia (owner) has created the perfect retreat away from the hustle of Panama City and I thoroughly enjoyed the relaxation during my week stay at Cerrito Tropical. Must go!

Visiting Cerrito Tropical at Taboga Island was a very unique experience. First the boat trip makes you feel like if you are slowly stripping form all your stress and helps you set a relax mood to arrive at Taboga Island, a folkloric place where everyone seems to live happily. Our arrival at Cerrito Tropical was not without despair - but once you climb the hill, you enter a unique ambiance where you feel like family spending a weekend at your cousins. The view is BREATH TAKING, accommodations offer all you need to enjoy your surrounding and the catering Chef Aristides, is incredible. He will cook fish, seafood, creole food... But indeed the best was the friendly attention you received form the owner Cynthia. She will satisfy your curiosity about the place with either history or
