Hotel Castilla was an oasis of pleasantness in hot, noisy, dirty David. I don't know why anyone would go to David except, as we were doing, to catch a bus or plane to go elsewhere. The hotel was cool and quiet, clean, and had helpful front desk people. Centrally located. Decent restaurant attached to the hotel, which is a good thing, as the food offerings in David are not much. The internet didn't work in our rooms, though it did in the comfortable lobby. And, oddly, it has no windows that aren't frosted glass, so you can't see out of your room.

I stayed here for 2 nights after an 8-hour bus ride from San Jose, CR before continuing on to Panama City. Hotel is centrally located on a busy street, across from a lovely park and down the block from a large grocery store. It is right in the heart of a very lively area. Taxis are plentiful around the hotel, and it's only a $2 taxi ride to the bus station. Hotel staff were polite, helpful, and professional. Good WiFi in the room. There was a small flat screen TV, but no English-language channels. The shower was hot and had good pressure.

The hotel lobby was modern, but dimly lit, as were the hallways. The room was old, dreary, and nondescript-- just a bed, desk, desk chair, and TV. Some rooms also have a side chair. The lighting in the room was very poor and the window in the room was blacked out. You couldn't see out the window or tell if it were night or day. The air conditioner was so loud that it sounded like a generator. I moved to another room, but the a/c was only slightly quieter. Besides the air conditioner, the room was quiet. I didn't hear any street noise or noisy guests inside the hotel

The hotel was cheap, so I wasn't expecting luxury. However, based on the TA reviews I expected something a little nicer. This is just a place to lay your head. I wouldn't stay there again.

Hotel is in the heart of David. You can walk out and go to the main square in the city center. Grocery store and restaurants are close by. The wifi is AMAZING. great signal all over the hotel. Staff was friendly. I also have a great fear of bed bugs. The hotel has been bed bug free. At least my room has 228. I would recommend this hotel as a nice hotel to in David. The air is also nice and cold. Stay here for business and pleasure. The only thing that might bother people are the really flat pillows. I liked them, but others could complain.

We had a great sleep at this property, clean, friendly staff and nice location. Our car was safely parked in their parking lot.

The air conditioning was not functioning and they changed us to another room.

Hotel has food options next door in a nice local restaurant, nothing fancy.

We end up there for Christmas eve and it was great fun. People are still on the streets till 11pm buying gifts. We were told that after 11pm is a family time/dinner and at 1am people go dancing. We checked 2 hotels: 4* Hotel “Nacional” - $93 per 2 pp room, $126 for 4 pp room included breakfast buffet, pool, spa, very spacious rooms, located 1 block from the main street. We read that lunch buffet is great there. Our hotel was 3* Hotel “Castilla” located right on the city square, $38 per 2 pp room. Very nice place with its own restaurant (try “white lady” for dinner, fish with seafood and white sauce on top), great decorations/ paintings and underground parking. It is also just 1 block from 24 hrs supermarket.

I think this hotel should be on he hotels section not B&Bs, its the one thats on the main square of David.

We were not expecting a relaxing night in David, as it was to be a transit stop on our way through Central America. Very pleasantly surprised by the Hotel Castilla, exceptionally clean, modern, great amenities, quiet, qith a great restaurant. Make sure you get the Lemon tart, the best dessert Ive tasted in my 37 & a bit years on the planet! lovely welcoming service too, from the restaurant staff, an excellent introduction to Panama and its charming people.

My stopover for a couple of days while touring Panama. Beautiful tiled and clean hotel. Big one bedroom, queen, great shower, all amenities, Wifi. Great value. David is bustling travel hub for Panama. Beauty Salon on one side, nice cafeteria on the other. Did not use in house restaurant.
Saw new "Skyfall" release in English at a movie house around the corner. Plenty of shops, market and stores in easy walking distance. Reception and staff could not have been kinder.

I am a US citizen and hold a Panamanian resident card. I regularly stay at the Castilla for value price, security, and a peaceful atmosphere.
As mentioned many times before the Castilla has clean rooms,
although they are bit small if you are travelling with a companion.
For those who are somewhat physically challenged, you need to be
aware that there is no elevator. There are no first floor rooms that I could observe. But the front desk staff will muscle your bags to your room on the second or third floor.
There is a good buffet to the left of the Castilla as you exit.
For those that want to meet a bunch of resident americans &canadians
travel 200 feet to the right as you exit the Castilla. There you will see the Ibis Hotel. Go up the streetside staircase to the second floor.
You will find a bar owned by Peter, a canadian, who has the best happy hour and regular drink prices in town. The bar has a great view
to watch the locals in the city park across the street.

I like this place! It's clean and modern and right downtown for only $39 (single room). It has real hot water and a good restaurant too! My choice if I ever have to stay in David again.
