Travel guides seemed to give good reviews and reasonable price for Hotel Iberia, and all we were looking for was a clean, safe place to spend the night. It was so convenient with friendly staff and a reasonable little restaurant that we stayed for three nights before moving on.
The rooms were basic, the air conditioning worked great (a plus in the hot city of David during the dry season) and the restaurant was consistent and satisfying.
The biggest plus of this place was the staff. Smiling, hard working, friendly, and always helpful.
A delightful find in a potential crisis situation.
Later on our way back through David we stayed a second night. Front desk folks were very helpful with directions. We again ate at their little restaurant which was a good value with professional, helpful staff.
The rooms are basic, butvwith a/c, cable tv, & private bathroom with hot water the clean accomodations were definately worth the $35/night.
The hotel staff is very slow, don't expect quick check-in & check-out. The room had a queen bed, a window, small fridge, and bathroom with shower.
Breakfast is not included in $38.00 per night room rate, however the restaurant prices are not too bad.
Average hotel for average price, nothing special.
Long story short:
1. The room was tiny. The bed was even tinier.
2. Only 2 towels and 2 pillows provided. Refused to provide more when asked.
3. Shower door fell off at first use.
4. A/C did not work.
5. No elevator, and no A/C in the building.
6. They shut off the A/C when we left. Wanted to charge us $15 per day to keep it on to keep the room cool.
7. Room was generally aged in appearance. The pillows were old and flat. Bedding was old and not very comfortable.
8. Hotel manager was rude and unhelpful. Made no attempt to remedy the situation.
We checked out of both rooms first thing the next morning.
In contrast. we moved to Hotel Castilla. A/C in entire building, security cameras, helpful staff, large updated rooms, all the towels and pillows we wanted and basically everything you expect in a hotel plus great service for the same price.
"This is covered under internet. Just a note: I think the restaurant is one of the best in David!"Read full review
"All rooms have 'black out' curtains. The hotel is near an emergency or ambulance service, so the rooms nearest that side are probably slightly noisy. We did not notice any noise after about nIne PM and that was the location of our room...probably west facing. No noticable AC noise, but need the room card for AC."Read full review
