Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I decided to travel to Boquete on the Boquete JazzFest weekend, so most of the places were booked solid. My party consisted of myself (over 40), my mom and another couple (all three over 60) so going to a hostel or backpacker place was not an option.

One of the few affordable options available was the Fire Side Inn. I had read some reviews and was a bit edgy about going, specially since I was going with family & friends.

We arrived on a Wednesday at about 7 p.m. so it was already dark. Since I know Boquete very well, I knew where to look for it.

Once we parked the car (free parking inside), and since I had already seen pictures of the rooms and premises, I knew I was looking more for cabins than a motel per se. I went directly to the restaurant, Georges Grill (which I will review separately), and was greeted by the owner/chef who told me the check in process was done there.

He personally went with me to our rooms in the back (rooms 1 & 2) which were on the ground level. It is important to mention that this hotel has about 7 or 8 rooms max, so it´s a small place.

The rooms were HUGE! I know that people always complain about going to hotels that have tiny rooms, but this can´t be an issue here. The room was very spacious, had two double beds, a table with chairs, a flat 32 inch TV with cable, and a small but functional bathroom with shower (with hot water). Oh, also a mini fridge to keep the wine cold ;o)

Since Boquete tends to be cold at night, there is no a/c. Same principle that apply to cities like Medellin, San Francisco or Lake Tahoe, so that was no issue. There was a ceiling fan anyways. You can also open the windows for fresh air, or (if in the ground floor like I was) open the glass door and sit in one of the tree stumps on the outside (barring some light cold rain typical of the area).

The hotel is located in a rural, rustic, mountain area, so there was a little creek with ducks and geese that greeted us every morning (plus the black Labrador Bambi that was a sweetheart!). That added to the countryside flavor that we all love.

There is no housekeeping, but making up the beds was no issue. And in case you had any special needs (like changing the towels or fixing anything in the room) there was always somebody on call to help you.

On of the strong points of this place was the warm, attentive nature or the owner, his wife and sister-in-law. This is a small family run business, so don´t expect the Hilton. If going to a mom & pop kind of place isn´t your cup of tea, don´t waste your time here and find an accommodation that suits your needs.

Yes, there are small details that could help the place, and we did have a chat with the owner to help him with this. He took note and I know he will make small changes that will make and already great stay, even better. He loves his business and it shows.

I would definitely recommend this property, always keeping in mind it´s rustic, comfy and clean nature. It was worth it!

I've stayed at Fireside Inn for one night during a short trip to Boquete. My standard double room with a garden view was in reality just a very, very basic wooden cabin. Bed linens were very old with holes on them and a bit stinky as well. Sleeping was very uncomfortable. No internet access in the room at all. Shower and bathroom were also very modest. Nevertheless this is a property with still a few pros: a) a very friendly and helpful owner called George, b) the food. George gave some essential info about local places of interest and he also knows how to cook properly. I've had an excellent and really enormous falafel for dinner. Just superb! Breakfast was great as well with a delicious omelet and fruits from George's garden. Wi-fi is available in dining area.
Just to finalise... Having a meal at Fire Side Inn is highly recommended but stay is fine for one night, not more.

If you want a unique experience try this. Wood fired pizza oven. Great local specials everyday. The drinks were fantastic and the prices very reasonable. It's out of the way but you will love this place.

Not quite what the photos indicate. Poorly built with cracks in doors and ceilings. The laundry is a shack. Farm animals on the grounds. Chosen because it was cheap - should'a known better. Plenty of nice places in the area. This is more like a hostel for youth who want a cheap place.

The place is nearby a river. We stay at large and comfortable cabin, whit two bed, private bathroom (hot water was intermittent) and enough space for kids. The owner and the service girls are very nice people. They have laundry service too. It is located a little far from the down town but you can take a bus or taxi easily. There is a mini gym.

This hotel is the worst experience that I had there. the daily rate is overpriced for holidays week in Panama. Teh room was very dirty and we could hear noises from the room above.
We booked this hotel due to some reviews but I dont recommend to any one. we paid 5 dolars for the breakfast. An omelete with 1 slice of bread.
we saw other guests leaving before the booked days. we made the same. we left 2 days before.
