Words fail to capture this wonderful property. Although I enjoy beach vacations, the peacefulness of a mountain escape is my idea of a perfect vacation and Los Establos was simply divine! The lush landscape and panoramic views of Volcán Barú from the balcony of our premium suite were just what we wanted.

The food was always delicious, and we hate dinner with a gorgeous view over the mountains each evening. The dinner menu changed daily with "to die for" soups, delectable entrees, and decadent desserts. Although the breakfast and lunch menu were more set, they were both very delicious and featured daily Panamanian specialities. We usually opted for one of the wonderful soups and salads for lunch. The nightly happy hour was also a hit.

The daily included excursions were all excellent. Our 1st day we opted for the additional cost Island Tour and had a phenomenal day watching the migrating humpback whales from our "private island" while enjoying the delicious fish & chicken cooked on the beach. We also opted for the additional cost Volcán Barú 4x4 sunrise tour, which was amazing but a very rough ride. (We were glad that we scheduled a massage that afternoon as our included "excursion" for the day!) The other excursions we did were: Ziplining, Pipeline Hike, Hanging Bridges Hike, Panoramic Tour, and Coffee Tasting.

What really made our time at Los Establos special was the wonderful staff. Everyone was so kind and gracious and went above-and-beyond to make sure our stay was perfect. Los Establos is gorgeous place, but the people are its heart.

I can't wait to return!

The staff who work there make all the difference in a stay. All are so friendly and helpful from the morning and lunch staff, housekeeping and happy hour/dinner staff. The cooks will try extremely hard to make your meal special. I have a dairy allergy and my meals were awesome! Where they could they omitted the dairy and if they couldn't they would do something special. Housekeeping did a fantastic job keeping the place clean because of the rain we tracked in a lot of water and mud.
The excursions were interesting but could do with more of a writeup of what is entailed. For example the "pipeline hike" was suppose to be very easy, and it was fairly easy but for someone with hip and knee issues it definitely was a challenge. When doing an excursion everything is organized for you, taxi or bus with drivers that have a good handle on English for those of us who do not speak Spanish.
Our rooms were lovely with a sitting area and patio. The only problem we had was that we were close to the lounge area and there were times it was quite noisy. During the day it was fine but late at night was annoying.
The pool is very small and not deep but warm. Lots of areas to sit. There was only about 20 people there while we were there sitting could change if the hotel was full.
If you are looking for a very very relaxing vacation this is for you but if you are a person who needs to be entertained nightly, you will be very disappointed. There is happy hour before dinner, dinner and then most retire to their rooms, or catch a cab to the downtown area.

Los Establos was my adult sleep away camp with alcohol, excellent meals and great accommodations. The day trips were amazing. Perfect for all types of travelers. I was in a group of 12 and it was so fun. We looked forward to our meals together. Try the daily specials as they are Panamanian dishes made with love and never disappoint. Marjorie makes the fresh daily along with the desserts. Every day was a surprise that we all looked forward to. Our favorite dessert was the ice cream and passion fruit cheesecake. Rob Barret the owner was such a special treat, he made it a point to check in on us and make sure we were good and taken care of. We loved getting to meet him and his wife.
What sets Los Establos apart from any other all inclusive is the details and intimate setting. The happy hours with special drinks of the day would bring us all together to just chill and play some games or enjoy the sunset. The property is gorgeous with breathtaking views and a sense of peace and serenity.
Tips:
1) book the excursions in the morning (yes the 7:30 am) for zip lines, etc. most people want to sleep in so they book the later ones. When we went we had a private tour for just 3 of us. Others who went later had groups of 20.
2) try or ask for the fry bread, think funnel cake put flat and oh so delicious. You can get these in the morning or lunch
3) Yader, Nairobi, Ricardo will take the best care of you in the restaurant. Also, they make the best fruit drinks (watermelon juice)
4) this is a relaxing place so don’t expect loud partying just good people with great food and wonderful hospitality.

Los Establos was a lovely resort and the team, especially in the food & beverage department was fantastic. They took the time to get to know us and make our stay fantastic. If this was a normal stay it would be 5/5 stars. But it's not a normal stay. This was a "free trip" that we paid thousands of dollars for at a charity auction. We were shocked when we learned that in addition to the thousands we spent on the voucher, we still owed $3,000 in "all-inclusive surcharges" on our room for a week. The food was great. The service was great. The facilities were great. That being said, nothing about this place worth the ~$5,000 we paid for it and the value of the trip was closer to 2/5 stars.

These certificates are an absolute scam.

That being said, if you book straight through the hotel with transparent pricing, it's worth the cost and we highly recommend it.

Los Establos will forever be a special place to us. We traveled to Boquete with immediate family and elderly parents, one with mobility issues. The staff was extremely accommodating and kind, changing to a room without stairs, even relocating our evening meals to keep us from traveling down a path in the evening. The property and rooms are beautiful, views incredible, food delicious, and activities all top notch. We loved Josefina, Mario, JP and all other staff who went out of their way to treat us with kindness and caring. We are hoping to plan a return trip!

Wow! What a special experience. Pricey but worth the all inclusive rates if you don’t want to worry about anything beyond relaxing. Beautiful and spotless hotel surrounded by gorgeous views, gardens and a coffee finca. A little outside downtown Boquete. What really makes this the best place to stay was the amazingly, friendly and helpful staff. They worked hard to make sure our every need was met, from driving us around, setting up tours, providing an amazing massage, taking care of our laundry and all the delicious food for every meals we had in the restaurant. We also enjoyed our evening happy hours. We recommend the coffee tour and zip lining activity. If you are hiker and down something more challenging don’t miss the 3 lost waterfalls. Be prepared for some rain if you visit in Dec.

A big thank you to Marvin, Gabriel, Nairobi, Ricardo, Josefina and Elian for making our time in Boquete so special!

My family and I spent 6 days onsite at Los Establos after visiting a very hot and humid Panama City for a few days. The weather was perfect with cool nights and warm days with only a few showers. My husband and I agreed that the views from this hotel were the best in town. You are up on a hill away from town but close enough to walk down or a quick cab ride. The volcano is directly in front of the hotel and there are fantastic views from each room.

The hotel is all inclusive and offers three delicious meals a day including traditional Panamanian options. The dining hosts got to know us and even prepared special meals for my 7 year old son who is not a picky eater but who was a little unsure of trying new food each meal.

One activity is included each day and we did them all including hiking to waterfalls, hot springs, horseback riding, rock climbing, zip lining through the rainforest (super cool), hanging bridges and best of all the sunrise ride to the top of Baru volcano. Some of these were an added fee but well with it. A professional guide came with us each tour and transport each provided by the hotel or the guide. We were really impressed with the knowledge, friendliness and professionalism of all of the guides.

The reception was wonderful and we really appreciate Josephine who helped us from booking tours to finding covid tests for us to come back to the US.

The room we stayed in had two queen beds, a large bathroom with two sinks and a nice patio with a table and chairs outside the front porch. There is no air conditioning but the ceiling fan providing plenty of air circulation on the cool nights and we were fine.

My kids enjoyed a dip in the pool each day while we enjoyed happy hour! We would go back again for sure!

We stayed at Los Establos in July 2023, their low season. I think the most people there during our stay (in total, for the entire hotel) was 10 including ourselves. The fewest was 4, just us and another couple. It was very quiet, there were days we saw no one else and had the pool and hot tub to ourselves. The staff were amazing, very friendly and helpful. The dining staff was outstanding. I have several food allergies and they were not only aware, but were sure to offer information (like if it said "creamy" but was not dairy), make substitutions that were safe for me, and even make or offer options that I could have, or non-alcoholic drink options for happy hour. The food was so good, it was tough to go on excursions where we'd miss a meal there. When we returned we joked we were coming back to our "private estate" because so few people were staying there. Would recommend to anyone. Even in July it was hot and humid in town, but nice and cool and in the 70s up at the hotel. It was extremely comfortable and I wish I brought more long sleeves! It's usually the rainy season as well, but we only ran into a few scattered showers and one downpour over a week. We expected daily thunderstorms from Weather Channel forecasts, but that was inaccurate and we only experienced one at night. Beautiful place, the views are fantastic.

Located in the hills of Boquete, Los Establos Boutique Inn does not disappoint. What makes the place so special are the views, vegetation, food, and staff. As someone who is gluten intolerant, I was pampered by the restaurant staff during a four-day stay. They went out of their way to make incredibly delicious gluten free bread and desserts for me. I was beyond grateful for their care and attention and even left with a hand-written recipe from their amazing pastry chef. The activities are also great. We did two hikes with superb guides, saw the magnificent quetzal bird while hiking, and went to the top of the volcano. We loved the coffee plantation tour as well. I'd go back next week if I could. Thank you to everyone at Los Establos. I miss you!

Los Establos is an amazing boutique resort that offers abundant peace and tranquility. It’s a beautiful location with views of the surrounding jungle and a view of the volcano. I highly recommend this location for small groups, weddings, and wellness / yoga, fitness groups. There are plenty of beautiful hikes and other outings included, the food is really good, and the customer service is superior. We took advantage of zip lining (one of the top three in the world), hot springs, coffee plantation tour, hikes, river and more. The resort is a perfect place for rest and relaxation, but also mindfulness and self reflection. I will absolutely be coming back!!!

Yes there are, not on the wall as in some places but in a drawer in the bathroom.

Yes there is a common area. As for the alcohol, I saw a group that had purchased their own alcohol and brought it to the common area with no problems. Within the common area there is a fridge that has soft drinks and beer. There is also an open wine rack but I am not sure if anyone can open a bottle. There is a coffee station there as well and I was told anytime I want I can brew coffee.

Our Suites were all on the ground floor. I did not see an elevator. We never once watched Tv while we were there we were having fun enjoying the sights. I am fairly sure that if there is a DVD player in your room that it would work with the DVD from your home. Although there are not a lot of stairs you do need to be aware that the walk down to eat and back up is a little bit strenuous if you have physical conditions or are out of shape like I was but after a few days I got used to it.
