Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

i really had a pleasasnt experience. Slept well and met some interesting folks.
The owners are friendly enough and helpful.
THere seems to be a kitchen apartheid, however i´m not much on cooking anyhow.
The place was clean, quiet and worth the price!
All I am saying is, Give The Palacios A Chance......

We have had a lovely stay for 3 nights in this family runned hostel. The family is very hospitable and knows exactly what to do where without paying a lot of operators, if you can easily do it cheaper in a different and even nicer way. The rooms were basic but a lovely warm shower! Wifi was good and the hostel is very central so everything was in walking distance. I won't recommend to cook in the kitchen but the owners know all the good local places in the area!

We stayed here for 3 nights and really enjoyed it. It´s definitely not the fanciest or cleanest hostel I´ve ever stayed in, but you will not beat the friendly service anywhere. The owner, Francisco, will give you the greatest introduction to Boquete you could hope for. He makes you feel more like a house guest than a customer, which is a great feeling. Also really fast WIFI.

Room Tip: All the rooms seem about the same. The private rooms also have private bathrooms.

We got off the bus right in the city center and Pancho came to us to offer a private room. We accepted for a night and then decided to stay for 3 nights more paying everything in advance.
He was really kind and helpfull, giving us a lot of information and always asking us about our stay.
We noted there was something strange around, but since we'd been travelling around central america for 9 months it was quite common to note strange things.

The last morning we got up and went to the kitchen for 2 minutes, that's why we didn't lock the door. When we were going back to the room we met Pancho in the corridor and asking us weirdly how was the night; while speaking with him we saw her wife going out of our room and closing the door while he was trying to cover her putting his body in the middle.
We didn't say anything at the moment, we entered in our room and noted that our small pocket where we keep the money wasn't where it was before, we counted the money and 60$ were missed.

We immediately went to speak with them, Pancho's wife told us about a girl who came in the morning to see the room and that's why she entered in our room, though we didn't see any girl around that morning. Her story didn't coincide with what we had seen, and so she went to her room and close the door.

It's strange, because if any stranger had entered into the room and stolen our money he would have stolen everything and not only a small amount. That's why we think one of them could have been, though we don't have any material proof. Maybe they thought that by stealing us only 60$ we wouldn't have noted.

We felt really bad and left immediately.

This owner is crazy. The beds weren't cleaned and it smelled like the dog walking around. When we got up in the morning and told the owner we weren't staying for another night he got crazy and screamed at us to leave immediatly. Check out time was at 12 but we had to leave at 8 in the morning. Don't stay here! The owner may come across as charming and friendly in the beginning but that can change in a second!

We stayed here for three nights and overall had a good time.
The hostel is located perfectly in the heart of town (right in front of the bus station).
The owner, Pancho, is a nice guy but can talk a bit much sometimes. We had a problem with the hot water as it only worked on the first night and not on the other two. This was apparently because of a water problem in town...

The bathrooms and bedrooms were pretty clean.

They also have a kitchen that isn't really as well equipped as it should be.

The prices are $10 per person in a dorm or $25 for two people in a private room with a bathroom. Singles pay $20 for a private room.

Overall, nice but basic.

Hostel Palacios is conveniently located directly on the upper end of the main plaza. It is inside older building which opens onto nice garden in the back. It has private rooms with bathrooms, dorms with shared bathrooms, decent size kitchen, living room with TV and free Wi-Fi. There is hot water.
You will share this hostel not only with fellow travelers, but also with the owners’ family who lives there. It can get a bit noisy during the day, but it is quiet at night.
The owner is a good source of information about local activities, specifically information about hike to Volcan Baru. If you are in Boquete, you should not miss this hike. It is best hiked at night during full moon and reaching the peak before sunrise.
Although the hostel is generally clean and provides decent budget accommodation, the building is quite old.
If you are arriving to Boquete during high season you should make reservation for your accommodation in advance. I arrived to Boquete in late afternoon and this hostel was the first with vacancy, only after at least seven other hostels I went to that were fully occupied.

My wife and I spent 3 nights at this hostel and overall our stay was fine. We were in a triple room (number 2) for which we paid $20/night for just the two of us with a shared bathroom. The beds were comfortable, the bathroom was clean enough and the WiFi was good. The couple who run it are definitely a little bit odd but we did not have any negative experiences with them and Pancho was very helpful when giving advice about the area and things to do. The kitchen is definitely not the cleanest or the most functional but the hostel is in a great location with good eateries very close by! It’s certainly not luxury staying here but not unpleasant either. They have a dog and two rabbits who live in the garden which we thought was nice. Overall for the price it is absolutely acceptable.

DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOSTAL! The owners Pancho and Jannette, are very nice people, but have NO PIRDE in their establishment!
I am here, as I got hurt, and am still in Boquette receiving medical care. The place is digusting! I paid in advance for 5 weeks. I have been here since 2-15-17. I have 7 days left and I would gladly leave if I could get a refund!
I am just going to list off everything that is VERY wrong about this place. This is not done out of malace, I just don't wish anyone else to get stuck in this filthy place like I did!
1) There are ckroaches in my room, along with various other bugs!
2) I informed the owners Pancho & Janette the my sink, toilet, and over head light were broken the day after my arrival here. I had to turn the water off at 3am because the floor was flooding. I asked 3 times to get these things fixed, they are still not fixed as of today 3-13-17.
3) I must to ask weekly to have my sheets changed and my room cleaned...my sink, shower, and toilet have only been cleaned 1 time, my first week here, and I have to send Poncho back in to sweep and mop. He asks "what you want it cleaned too? YES I DO!
4) I asked to have my room cleaned this morning and I was ignored by Pancho, the owner, he want back in to bed...it is 11am and they are both still sleeping and my room is untouched.
5) The dirty dishes that have been left outside and in the sink have been sitting unwashed for a week, they expect the other guest to clean up other people's messes if you wish to use the kitchen.
6) I have had items stolen and owner does nothing.
7) My room floods when it rains and the owner does nothing.
8) People have removed others food from the refrigerator to stuff the minifrige for the entire hostel full of beer. People have also stolen others food while I have been here and Pancho blames it on whom ever has left, but there have been times no one leaves and this happens. His fix is to keep the foot in your room with the cockroaches!
9) I have had people outside my room throwing up all night and the owners do nothing about it.
10) Pancho has asked me for more money multiple times and I have to tell him NO I have already paid! He has you pay in cash when you get here for your entire stay!
There is NOTHING good or decent about this place! There are dozens and dozens of VERY nice hostels here for the same price so do not throw your money away here because that is what you will be doing throwing away your money! I hope this review help you all our...

The owner Pancho will appear very friendly and helpful at the beginning of your stay. However his personality can change in a split second. When he found out I was leaving (i only ever told him I would stay one night) he became very agitated and wanted to me out of the hostel as soon as possible the next morning. Do not stay here, you will never feel comfortable leaving your stuff and you will never know when the owner will turn on you. There are plenty of other places to stay which are just as cheap. You cannot use the kitchen in this place, its disgusting.
