Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
We had a standard private room with private bathroom to begin with but there was a leak in the bathroom and the staff were absolutely brilliant in moving us. Got upgraded to a suite - if you can afford the extra, definitely worth the difference.
The location is spot on too - short walking (5-10 mins) distance from the restaurants and shops and really easy to access all the trails/hikes from here too.
Would definitely recommend Selina Boquete to anyone heading to the area.

This place fascinated me as it was more like an experience than just an accommodation. With the beautiful scenery and places to sit/eat/chill, it was almost difficult to leave to go into Boquete.
There were little nooks and hammocks where an introvert could hide away, and at night I could escape for some solitude at the bonfire.
I noticed a flyer advertising that they had a drumming circle on the full moon. The odds of it being a full moon in the short time I was there seemed astronomical but low and behold, when I googled it, it was a full moon that very night (Dec 7th). Delighted, I went to confirm the event with reception but they had no record of such a thing. I showed the staff person the flyer and she quickly got in touch with someone and it was organised for the following night but I would be gone by then. That was my only disappointment.
I was there with an Intrepid Tour so didn’t actually book this place myself but if I had I would have stayed in one of those barrel rooms, they looked so compact and cosy.

We stayed in Selina Boquete for 3 (week) nights with our 2 children. The hostel is very well-located, with a river flowing through which gives a really nice & relax vibe. The staff is very nice & friendly, the lady insisted on showing us all the different enterainment upon arrival yet very unexperienced. This is felt in how they dealt with our questions and room issues. The room looked very nice yet seemed to be falling apart. From the toilet paper holder to the curtains, it all sat loose and came down at one point. The curtain falling down was noticed to reception but them not dealt with - that is a pity!
Thumbs up to cleaning staff they were excellent!
It was noisy for sure but not too disturbing. The restaurant was ok when the manager was around but when he wasn’t it wasn’t the most hospitable place to be.
I would recommend to get the rooms fixed (and close those holes where something has already falling down) and give your staff proper training in leadership & hospitality. The will was certainly there, the skills / insights not yet.

The room VARY GREATLY. You may want to ask to see YOUR room. The Some rooms are very nice, some are literally, 3 or 4 foot diameter concrete pipe sections and a bed with restroom nearby. Food varies. Drinks seem to be sweetened with guava, which is not to my taste. Pleasant staff.

I arrived at about 6:20 pm, after a 6 hour drive. The parking lot was full and the parking attendant said oh, you have to park around the corner in the back. Wait a minute, I am spending money, a couple of hundred dollars at your establishment and you don’t have parking, or you offer no other assistance. Wow, I could t believe it.. The parking person didn’t give a crap and I backed out and left I am 62 years old and there was NO ABSOLUTELY NO help.

New place. It’s gonna need some time. The staff is learning but they’re very unpracticed. A few months of experience will go a long way. They hold nightly activities. It’s nice to drum up interest but doesn’t always work out. They hired two guys with a guitar today and they were a mess. Their speakers were waaaaaay too loud and out of tune. They also kept having feedback issues. Don’t think about sleeping until after 11 because all the music goes til then and it’s extremely loud. It rains a lot here and there are too many areas that do not have a covered walkway. You Will get wet here during the rains. Also the buildings are still being refurbished and have many issues (plumbing, roofs etc). There’s many more issues but suffice to say, in a few months it should be a good spot. The staff is very nice now though!

We stayed at the Selina in Boquete for two nights and are completely convinced. The hostel itself is clean and incredibly beautiful. However, we have particularly positive memories of the staff. We had some problems with our transfers due to the Easter holidays, so we contacted Selina in advance and asked for help. Jordan, one of the employees, showed great commitment, booked transfers for us and made phone calls to bus companies. I have never experienced this level of service before. The Selina is really lucky to have such an employee on the team. Thank you very much for these two wonderful days in Boquete.

The only reason why this is not a 5-star review is that this place feels a bit impersonal because of its size. They put a lot of effort into creating community spirit and connecting guests but it still feels a bit automatic and robotic. However, the premises are great and for that prices, the cylinders are probably the best value option in Boquete if you don't mind having your toilet and bathroom being shared and a couple of meters away from your room. In terms of space, the room was ok for a couple of nights. After that it would probably become a bit annoying.
