Property was decent, with very basic rooms with a couple of beds, and decent bathrooms. Overall the room and common areas were clean, except for spider webs. Wifi was very poor in the rooms. Staff do not speak English, but that’s ok. No credit card accepted which is annoying. Common area and kitchen were nice. Would consider staying again if in the area.

Safe, comfortable and relaxing place to stay, I think it was a good option to spend a night here, although I wish I had been here a couple more days. The kitchen well equipped and beautiful garden. The hostel is near boquete city so you can walk around and find everyting you want. I will stay in here the next time I come to Boquete.

Hostal Gaia is a beautiful hostel with small dormitory rooms, a great communal kitchen and good wi fi. The people that stayed there when we were there were interesting and friendly. It's a relaxing place and quiet environment where people socialize around the dining table but doesn't break into a party scene. They have affordable laundry services and great tips on activities to do around the area.

I'm very bitter about my experience here. My boyfriend and I stayed here for almost a week and the night before our departure, one of the receptionist told us that once we check out, we won't be able to use the kitchen or bathrooms. Gee, thanks. It rained hard on our check-out date but we got kicked out anyway.

I had also asked a receptionist the night before what time was check-out and she didn't have the heart to tell me that she didn't know so she made me wait for a while only to tell me to come back the next morning to ask someone else.

Finally, we got our laundry done here and when they returned it, it was not folded. Fine, not all places that offer laundry service for an additional fee offer the usual fold. But geez, two of my tanks changed colors, one of my favorite shirts disappeared and one of my boyfriend's shirts shrunk (so he gave it to me).

Sure the place was next to a river but there are so many other hostels that have that, too. We payed $28 (or $32) a night and we didn't feel like they appreciated our business. I do not recommend this place. And there was no language barrier here, we speak Spanish.

We came to stay three nights and then left to check in to another hostel in Boquete. I wouldn't recommend this place.

Pros:
The showers are hot and have a good water pressure
The hostel is quite central

Cons:
We booked the "twin economic room" and obviously didn't expect a palace, but essentially we were housed in the basement. I (6"4, 1,94m) could not stand upright in our room, there was no light coming in and it felt more like a prison cell than anything else. To top it off, the room is directly under the common terrace, and any movement of chairs etc is very loud and uncomfortable.
The hostel has too many guests for the space they offer: the common areas are always overcrowded, the kitchen is always full with people, which makes it hard to cook or do anything else.
The staff is not very hospitable, they seem to be there because they have to.

We didn't enjoy our stay here and left for another hostel.

The professional and personable staff (Hilda, Olivia, Diana) is just one of the factors that make Hostal Gaia my favorite place to stay in Boquete. I spent three weeks in Boquete, tried other properties, and feel that Gaia is a great value, draws mature and respectful travelers (for the most part), and offers a well-equipped, shared kitchen and comfortable common areas. The fee for having laundry washed and line dried was only $2. The property felt secure and safe, and the location was convenient to "downtown".
Many hostels, maybe most others, seem to cater to younger and very low budget travelers. Those hostels tend to be dirty, noisy, and crowded. Gaia had a special feel that encouraged courteous behavior and pleasant conversations - and privacy when desired. I highly recommend Hostal Gaia.

Hostal Gaia is about 2 minutes walk from central Boquete in a quiet residential area. We stayed in a 6 bed dorm, but there is a 4 bed dorms and private rooms also available. Beds very comfortable and room spacious with private lockers available.
The dorm had a large bathroom with a great shower and HOT water!

The kitchen facilities are great, free coffee throughout the day and a large fridge so fridge space was not a problem! There is also a nice indoor and outdoor dining area, comfortable living area with couch, TV, board games and a nice outdoor chillout area that leads to a little stream, with sunbeds and extra seating, hammock etc.

The staff were so helpful and friendly and kept the place spotlessly clean (the communal areas and bathroom cleaned 2-3 times per day!).

The hostel was quiet but maintained a friendly, family atmosphere. We have been travelling through Central America for 2 months and this was the best overall hostel we have stayed in. Would highly recommend it.

Excellent location in central Boquete and quiet! Friendly staff who care for their guests, also when they get in trouble. Comfortable beds and great facilities such as a well-equipped kitchen and hot showers. The place is kept very clean and has a homely ambiance with a living room and fauteuils. Good quality coffee included all day.
Tiptop.

Stayed here for 2 weeks in April 2015 while taking spanish classes at Hablaya. This hostal is very clean and quiet. The WIFI signal was strong enough for me to stream Netflix from the common area and the dorm room. The staff is incredibly kind and was very helpful throughout my stay. This place has a very homey feel, and I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Boquete.

We stayed at this hostal for 4 nights. It is quiet, clean and in an excellent location (a few blocks off the main square). The staff was friendly but did not speak any English. The hostal is for those who want a quiet place to lay their head at night.

We were in private room #2 which was nothing more than two beds and a night stand. The room at the end (I'm guessing it is #1) was decorated nicely and overlooked the brook in the back. The only sitting area is up in the main house which is kind of a bummer for those in the main house. The wif-fi barely reaches the rooms. The location of the hostal just changed and because of that, I think there are still some growing pains. The backyard (where the private rooms are) is nothing more than gravel and dirt right now.

My biggest problem was the kitchen. It was in the main house and was too small for the amount of people in the hostal. Only one person could be cooking at a time. There wasn't a toaster either.

Long story short, its a great deal for the price, but do not expect many bells and whistles.
