Detailed Reviews
Pros:
Located a 5' walk from main square and supermarket in a safe area
Mattresses are good, beds warm and room clean, all areas are well cleaned daily. Bathroom and shower fairly clean. Warm water at all times
Cheapest in town, quiet after 10,good if running away from party crowd
Kitchen and fridge can be used, shared with owner and his staff
Animal friendly, lovely and well behaved dogs around
Strong and reliable internet connection
Lovely back garden where you can hang clothes to dry. Some rooms face this area, which seems like the quietest (ours faced the street, noise was easily bypassed with earplugs)
Cons
Very noisy parrot that cries non-stop, making being in the common area nerve-wracking at times
Loud tv playing music pretty much all day, allegedly TV room is for common use; in practice is mostly used by owner and his staff, using it feels out of order. Must say I asked owner to lower volume and he did it at once.
We were not explained where kitchen things where or how to use it,it'd been nice to know which things were ok for guests to use and which ones not
Owner, although polite and informative when asked, was quite serious and unfriendly at times, raising his voice even when politely asked why the price we were given on the phone was $1 higher than the one published in the notice board as the official one and asking whether possible to have it at the published price if staying an extra night. His answer was to raise his voice saying business costs were now too high and he was already offering the cheapest price in town. It's a fair point, however increasing your published price is illegal as far as I know,as is the fact he didn't give us an invoice (legally enforced in Panamá to avoid tax evasion, massive poster on the same board), so not sure what to think. In any case the angry tone was completely unnecessary and only made us extremely uncomfortable, negotiating a cheaper price is common practice across Latin America and we accepted his refusal without a former word.
He didn't smile or initiated conversation with either us or any other guests in our presence in the 4 days we were there, I respectfully disagree with the description that calls him friendly, that was not our experience, rather the opposite. Very unfortunate, if not made feel more like intruders than guests,I would say it's perfect in terms of price, cleaningness and location. I must add we were allowed to keep our luggage in the hall for free, which was quite nice from them.

I occupied alone during 4 days, a double room with shared bathroom for $10 per night. The room was large and well decorated. Guests can use a large and well furnished kitchen, and a dinning room. The pension is clean and rooms are made daily.
The owner gave me appropriate advices to organise several activities around.

Pension Marilos is very pretty with lovely views of the surrounding mountains and is in the center of town walking distance to everything, with plenty of parking...
The place is spotless, the beds comfortable, the price fantastic... And Frank the owner is one of the nicest hosts you will ever have the pleasure of meeting, and is happy to assist you in any way...
Stay here you will be very pleased.

Our room, with bathroom was very clean, bed was really comfortable. Owner was helpful if you asked for any info. Use of the kitchen was an added bonus. Locationis good. Off the main street but close enough to everything. Would recommend.

From Sept 27 to Oct 6, 2008, my wife and myself rented a single room with a private bath and queen bed and at $16 a night who could complain. They changed the sheets and mopped floors daily. We came and went freely because they furnished a key. The entrance was locked after 10pm.
The kitchen was usable but we weren't allowed to store to much in the refrigerator. The street noise wasn't to bad except on weekends but after 11pm there wasn't much noise.
Our biggest complaint was the lack of hot water. A couple of times we got a lukewarm shower, most of the time it was cool to cold. If they did laundry in the morning forget any lukewarm shower for a while. The only other complaint was there was no internet connection or phone other than a pay-for-call phone.

We had a wonderful stay at Pension Miralos. The owner is warm and very kind. His suggestions of area adventures for both the Boquete area and all of Panama were insightful and helpful. Boquete is a great town to escape the heavily visited areas, though still has a fair number of tourists, too.

The owner is Frank, and He is wondefully welcoming. The guests we met were kind and friendly. Lots of reading material and information on the area. Beautiful local art work, cheap rates, a kitchen if you want to cook. area to hang your wet clothes if need be.
Comfortable beds, good lighting and hot shower. clean too, just may need some updating soon.
The place was warm and wonderful and we want to go back in Feb.

Pension Marilos is superb value!
I was very impressed that I got such a nice room for just $20 a night. The room was extremely spacious and clean and so was the private bathroom. The room is nicely decorated and and furnished and has a comfortable, welcoming feel. The rooms were cleaned everyday.
The pension itself is charming and homely, there is a nice dining area and beautiful kitchen that you can use aswell as a cosy tv room.
Location wise it is very close to all the restaurants, tour companies and the main square but Boquete is very small so everywhere is within 5 minutes walk.
I've read a previous review that took issue with the shower being too cold but in my experience although only lukewarm it was never unbearably cold.
Overall I think this is an excellent place to stay in an equally excellent and picturesque town and I'd recommend it to anyone.

Very nice, clean, comfortable rooms at Pension Marilos. The prices are extremely reasonable for what you get! This is a great place to relax at night and get a very comfortable sleep. There is also a kitchen with a very nice dining room, good wifi, hot water and a very friendly parrot who greets you when you walk in the door.
Boquete is a fabulous little town and places like this make it more enjoyable.
Would definitely stay here again!

Not that I ever found. I actually phoned and spoke with the owner. He does speak excellent English if you are not fluent in Spanish.
