Pros: cheap private room, the staff was friendly and helpful. My room was located that I could hear the river, I found that peaceful for sleeping. The location is central for walking to town, the park, restaurants, and shops. I enjoyed exploring the town.
Cons: although you have access to the kitchen, it wasn't something I was comfortable using. I did use the microwave for heating tea water but that was it. No refrigerators in the rooms. Overall, the room was what I expected when I booked. The linens were clean and the bed was comfortable, the shower had hot water. For the price you pay, this met my expectations.

My family and I really enjoyed our stay at this property. We had very low expectations, but it was quite nice and comfortable. We brought our own bed cloth and towels. I will recomend this property for LOCALS rather than other country tourists.

We had good meals cooked in the shared kitchen and all other guest were extremly nice and respectful of the Covid-19 precautions.

Staff very friendly and nice environment overall by the river. Room was really nice and cozy, could not ask for better. Even felt like a hotel. Good cost-benefit overall. Shower in our room (private with view to the river) went from insanely hot to insanely cold. Stairs that take to these rooms are very narrow, but not a deal breaker. Location is quiet and central at the same time.

Stayed here for 2 nights with Tucan Travel on a tour of Central America. It was probably one of our lower standard hotels on the trip but it was fine. We had room 6 which is up the spiral staircase from the lobby area if you'd call it that! It was a clean room (most important to me!) with a balcony looking out on the street in front of the hotel. The bed was very noisy and hospitalish or something! It was fine though! Room 7 is up the spiral staircase too and is also a nicer room. Our friends were in room 4 and they said it smelled like toilet or drains-they were right, you could smell it out the back of the hotel and when we walked by their room. Overall, it's not a hotel I would have booked myself but it was fine, clean and the location is handy in this little town along the river.

We stayed here as part of a tour and I thought it was nicer than some more expensive hotels we were in. Rooms were clean and bathroom was fine but the shower was very hot. The river is very relaxing to have a drink beside.

Free wifi and we got a HUGE bag of laundry done for $5 and it was done in 3 hours. Anyone backpacking knows have invaluable good priced laundry is!

Yes, the sound of the river is very nice ... just wish that I could say the same about the rooms. My room was certainly not worth $30 (single) with its mismatched sheets, broken ceiling tiles, filthy light fixtures, flat pillows, and half-broken toilet. While they have benches on the balcony overlooking the river, the cushions are two old pieces of foam rubber with no covers. I could not keep the free wifi signal inside my room or on the balcony.

I think that the owner neeeds to invest time and money into basic maintenance of the rooms. The place is old, worn, and tired looking. I would not stay there again.

The staff was nice.

I work as a tour leader in Centroamerica and I always go to the same hotel. The hotel is located beside the river, is quite and nice. The first day Josue took me to have a ride in his motobike so I could have an idea about the town, he was helping me to find a doctor when a passenger got ill, he is always there for you to help with ANY information you might need, he is always smiling and loves talking with the tourists, he really enjoys it.
this is a very nice hotel with a very good service,

When a team loses a valuable team player it must reorganize and continue on. One person does not make a team, and with this in mind, one person does not make a hostel work. As owners of Hostal Boquete it is our major responsibility to find ways of improving guest relaxation and services. While we are saddened by Josue’s departure and we wish him good luck in his future endeavors, Hostal Boquete must continue on in providing the best service achievable to our guests while visiting the beautiful attractions of Boquete Panama. This was my 1st visit to Panama, and Hostal Boquete added value to my stay in the country. After the insanity of Panama City, Boquete offered a quaint, quiet and amazingly beautiful respite for my colleague and me. Of course, this is a Spanish-language town.

We conducted research and volunteered on behalf of our University. Jhosua, who greeted us, was an invaluable resource during our stay. His kindness and knowledge of the city provided all sorts of adventure and fun for us. Boquete is rich in natural resources - we even journeyed up the (inactive) volcano! An "American" outdoor restaurant in the center of town pprovides day-and-night food, friends, music, dancing and fun. the main restaurant - Sobrason is the name, I think - quite economically fills you up with local dishes . Staying at the Hostal Boquete suited us just fine. Employees there are personable, and worked to ensure our comfort.. Our room was fine. There was river construction at the time, so there was noise, but any annoyance was offset by all the pleasures we experienced. Besides, the result of the construction was a beautified riverfront with amazing stonework. In Boquete, this is the accomodation of choice. This is no place for typical commercialism. If you seek Panamanian authenticity, then go there...see it for yourself!

Pros: cheap private rooms, friendly staff and good location in the town. Also a supermarket nearby.
Cons: wifi is not that good in the room, the kitchen wasn't clean at all. It didn't seem that anyone was cleaning it. The supermarket was next to our room and it was loud in the night, which was ok when the window was closed. The staff speaks little english. Everything is old and used also the blankets. No real community
If you want a cheap private room go there.

I have never done a review before, but I find them very helpful, so here goes...

I stayed in room 7 for six nights in April. I would definitely stay here again. My room had a private balcony over looking the river, The location can't be beat - right next to the biggest grocery store in town and one block from the center of town. Several people on here mention issues with the temperature of the shower- I did not have any problem - it was easy to get it to the temperature I like.

My room was clean and comfortable - keep in mind, this is a hostal, not a fancy resort and you won't be disappointed. The reception staff don't speak fluent English, but they know the basics, and the owner (from the U.S.) is often in the lobby to help. He mentioned that he is slowly upgrading the hostal, one room at a time.
