What is Certificate of Excellence?
TripAdvisor gives a Certificate of Excellence to accommodations, attractions and restaurants that consistently earn great reviews from travellers.
Nice room, small but clean and tidy. Friendly staff, but not falling over themselves.. . and a fair price. It's short of modern 4 stars, but that's partly because of the age. Reasonable value. Internet was intermittent, breakfast included was OK. Fair value.
This was my first trip to KK but hopefully not my last! One of the main factors for having a wonderful trip was my good fortune in choosing the Jesselton Hotel. This is not an impersonal multi-country hotel chain where you are just another guest...More
We stayed here for just one day. Central location, lots of places where you can get by walking! Local food easily accessible and lots of varieties! Rooms are small but clean. Helpful reception staff. Has some charming features in decor!
So, the location here is great! near to the water but in a quiet area. on sunday the market is literally outside the front door! its close to the walk to the observation tower. Just a small walk down to the waterfront, about 5 mins...More
A lovely hotel with large light airy bedrooms and staff who cannot do enough for you. It is well placed in the middle of Kota Kinabalu for every thing you need.It is they oldest hotel in the town and still has the old colonial feel.

Because u arrive at that time u need to make sure you get the taxi coupon ride. Its 50% more than usual rate (about 45) and safe but hang on to your receipt. You don't need to tip the driver or anyone... Don't spoil the market ;) and enjoy your trip to KK! Go to the Phillipines market and get some pearls as souvenirs but bargain for about 60% from the displayed price. If they wont sell then walk away. Because its not worth the price on display.
