We spent 10 nights at E & O Hotel in a Victory Annexe corner suite. Our suite which was very big was excellent - well furnished and always clean. The bathroom was very good with a seperate shower. Breakfast in Sarkies was very good with a good selection and good quality. We ate dinner at Sarkies Corner a couple of...

My family was looking for a quiet and relaxing holiday and E&O was perfect for our needs. The team at the hotel is simply fabulous, and we loved the experience. Nagesh at the front desk was extremely helpful and showed us our rooms. We stayed in the Heritage wing and the view overlooking the sea was amazing. The bathrooms at...

This historic hotel is one for crossing off the ‘bucket list’. On a Friday afternoon, we were checked into the Victory Annex, which is the hotel’s reconstructed new wing that nonetheless replicates the look of the original Heritage wing. When we arrived at 2 pm, our room was still not ready so we were ushered to the Planter’s Lounge where...

I have stayed at the E&O Hotel several times over the years and always find it a great joy to return to the old lady. This visit was a short one but my suite in the Heritage Wing was superb. I cannot recommend this hotel too highly.

E&O Hotel offers the heritage touch for those who are looking for a different experience from routine five-star contemporary hotels. Few plus points about E&O Penang : 1. good location. Within walking distance to Georgetown & good hawker stalls. Only 200m walk to Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion. (If you are going to this blue mansion, pls make sure you check...

Stayed here for 2 nights for a business trip. Room was very nice, with a huge bath tub and a balcony. Breakfast was good too, nice spread. However, everything is useless when the room was so noisy that you could not sleep. The sound proof was bad and you could hear everything from the clubs opposite the hotel. If you...

We had afternoon tea here with my parents and our son (6). I am vegan and I emailed them after booking to see if they could do a vegan option for me (the others had a standard afternoon tea) and when they said yes I have to say my expectations were low. I was so wrong - it was amazing!...

This elegantly restored seaside hotel is located within Penang's UNESCO World Heritage Site. We stayed three nights in the Heritage wing and enjoyed our suite. Decorated in beautiful dark hardwood furniture, our ocean view room had a very comfortable bed and was spacious. We spent most of our time exploring Penang, but did like the breakfast buffet, which had a...

Buffet breakfast tick all the boxes, with a wide variety. Staff very helpfull and friendly. Happy our between 17.00 -18.00 was great with snacks and free...

We stayed at this hotel for three nights during our tour of Malaysia. The Staff are so friendly and helpful and if staying in the Heritage wing one has some great advantages. What advantages-eating in the sixth floor restaurant rather than the self service restaurant which incidentally was excellent but on the sixth floor one enjoyed table service. Another "perk"...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Eastern & Oriental Hotel is the embodiment of both a special time and a special place. For well over a century, this remarkable hotel - known simply as 'The E&O' to generations of travellers - has stood as a testament to the grand elegance of the British colonial era. In many ways, it has also come to represent Penang itself; its story inextricably woven into the island's history, its traditions an indelible part of many a traveller's treasured memory, its name synonymous with the magical island once known as The Pearl Of the Orient. ... more   less
