The rooms are great and very clean. They change the towel everyday. Breakfast is included and the foods are superb! Location is very strategic, near to great attractions. It is advice to walk outside at night to see the street foods and bars.

This hostel is located in a great location, serves reasonably good breakfast, provides towels and has clean rooms and has a hangout/working area. In short, all that you are looking for in a hostel room. There may be better hostels in Penang but they are probably more expensive and as such, I will give this hostel five stars. If you're...

Very good hostel! Me and my friend are enjoying our time here, the private rooms are great, very clean, great shower. It's well located and very friendly staff! There is also a nice, affordable, restaurant right in front, with good food and friendly staff, we missed our breakfast in the hostel and we went there, and was excellent :)

This hostel is amazing. The staffs are friendly, the room is clean, even the shared toilet is clean. The location of this hostel is perfect. The only problem that I have is that there is no place for us to hang our towel. Other than that, this place is amazing.

Stayed there during the weekend. I booked the private rooms which is located on the ground floor. Dorms are on the 1st floor. Nice, clean and cosy rooms. The receptionist are helpful and friendly. Location of the hostel is great as it is really near the Chulia Street Food and walking distance to famous restaurants like Kapitan, Line Clear, Nasi...

Dear Flaming_sword, Thank you for your review and I hear you on the noise. The review that came before you also complained about the art party that was held and it was only the 2nd time they were held at the premise. The first session went quite smoothly and they got carried away with the second one. I sincerely apologised...

The hostel's facilities are not bad. Breakfast is good. Location is excellent. Stayed there from Fri-Mon. However, my sleep was disturbed on Fri & Sat nights. The dorm guests were walking/running up and down the corridor, went out and came back late. And, had birthday party at 3am when everyone was asleep!!! Then there was an art & drinking session;...

Dear MasterYoda, As owner of the Ryokan hostel, i sincerely apologised to you for what happened at Ryokan. On that Friday night, there were apparently one group of students staying at Ryokan and they were celebrating someone's birthday that night. They had been told on several occasions to keep the noise level down but somehow they thought they could do...

This place looks good on paper but was a complete let down in reality. After mentioning to the receptionist that we were jetlagged & would be spending the day sleeping after a much needed shower, we didn't expect a maintenance guy to let himself into the room twenty minutes later while I was in the shower! He didn't even knock!...

Love this type of room/hotel! If only they have soundproofing walls or ceiling. My friend was complaining that the staff was too noisy at night till she can't fall asleep. Overall, it's really a good hotel to stay with friends!

This is a late review which I shall post on 25th June after I checked out from the hostel.
