We had to book this as a last minute stay because our preferred hotel dropped out. It wasn't a disappointment. It has an excellent location next to Nagore Square which is well worth exploring in its own right and it's only a 5min drive to Gurney Drive or the centre of Georgetown. The staff, as stated in the title, were...

Everything previous reviews have said about how dated and tired this hotel is is true. The entire property is in dire need of a makeover and refresh.. not just a renovation but a full gut and refurb. The pros however are the friendly and obliging staff and the excellent service. Room service is particularly fast and friendly as is the...

The hotel is in desperate need of renovation and clean-up: the wallpaper in the halls and paint in the bathrooms is peeling off, the carpeting in the rooms is all wrinkled, and to top it off, we saw a couple of huge (luckily dead) cockroaches on the floor in the hall. Location is not bad, and you can walk into...

The hotel room is clean and front desk is helpful to provide where to eat, shop and sight seeing. House keeping has been superb. We actually forgot an item in the room after we left and Executive House Keeper Encik Fadzli was very kind enough to send our lost items to one of our friends in another hotel who happened...

where do i even begin... we started off our trip excited but on the first night of our trip, we had a bad experience at this hotel. initially, we had a screw up with the travel agency so our rooms were assigned on a smoking floor. because we were on a tight schedule & there were many people at the...

Located in the centre. Walking distance to many places. Used GrabCar and the fare is really cheap to go around the town. Behind the hotel there are so many restaurants and bar within walking distance. Swimming pool is okay. Breakfast is good. Some rooms has bidet in the bathroom and some don't - that's something the hotel should really look...

Pros: Staffs very friendly and helpful. Cons: Booked 2 rooms for 5 nights. AC not working in both rooms during the whole stay. So we slept perspiring. Bathroom looked clean but stank. No toilet hose. Sink clogged in both rooms. The hotel needs major maintenance.

I stayed in this hotel for the first time on my recent trip back to hotel, choosing it because it was walking distance from my friend's excellent restaurant Perut Rumah. Growing up in Penang, i can remember in the 80s when it was the Merlin and one of the few 5 star hotels in Penang. Those days are long gone....

The room was quite spacious. The Hotel is nicely located. For the price vs the room its worth it. Nothing extra special about the hotel. The parking is in basement & had a problem during parking. But the rest was ok. Tips : 5 minutest by car to nearby places.

This hotel, it has been mentioned before, is a little dated however the rooms are reasonably spacious and we were able to comfortably get a family of 4 into one room, which can be difficult at times. The staff are friendly and the drinks were good value during 'Ecstatic Hours'. The location was very convenient as we were right at...
