Planned a short trip to JB with 3 friends over the long weekend and accidentally booked the wrong date - 3rd instead of 4th June!
Luckily, Fazli at front-desk was able to find a spare room for us and gave us spare pillows and blankets to accommodate all of us. We were charged only for this room and not for the original booking.

I could say this is a very good hotel. Cleanliness A+,Staff A+, Ambiance A , Location A. Then many could ask why not Full 5 marks for review... feedback - Queen Size is little small compared to normal Queen, view from window is not amazing. All amenities is the room could be considered complete and do expect DOVE shower cream and shampoo portraying is High Standards. As a non smoker, this is perfect for me but those who smoke - no violation or could be slapped with rm500 fine.

Arrival experience was impressive with friendly and helpful service by the Doorman/Security ( Mr Rasdi ) who greeted me and assisted with my luggage.
Many thanks to Ms Juliana who helped me with my room reservation and explained on the hotel facilities provided to their guests eg. breakfast included in the room package and its venue as well as the operation hours, complimentary shuttle service to the nearby shopping mall etc.
After 15 minutes I checked in to my room, she made a courtesy call to check if everything was okay with my room and I said to her that I was very pleased with the room. Indeed, the check- in process was easy, she provides excellent service with her sincere heart, warm hospitality.
Generally, the room is very nice, clean and comfortable, the only downside of it is the bathroom and shower room has a small gap which I believe it can be fixed soonest possible without any major renovation. ( My honest feedback though as I do care and I strongly recommend this hotel to my contact to stay whenever they are visiting JB).
During my stay ( 29/1 -30/1/2022 ) my auntie and I had our dinner at the restaurant at Level 1. We had Wild Forest Mushroom Soup, Ekor Asam Pedas and Chicken Chop. The soup was tasty, the asam pedas was nice just the Oxtail itself was a bit tough to chew otherwise the gravy was very good. The Chicken chop was good.
The service staff ( didn't get the chance to ask for her name but I remember it was a female staff wearing hijab. She was attentive and responded to customer request promptly.
The last day of my stay, I had a breakfast in restaurant Level. It was a buffet style, overall the food served during the breakfast was reasonably good. Service staff was courteous. The only thing need to improve is perhaps listening skill in order to understand the message or guest's need. eg. I requested for a glass of warm water but was given a boiling hot water in cup so I couldn't drink it right away, had to wait for a while to cool the water down, luckily I was sitting right under the AC cassette so it helps in a way.
No big issue actually perhaps the person ( Male staff) who attended to me misunderstood my request but I have to say he was a nice staff, polite and served people with smile.
Last but not least, I wish all the best for Holiday Inn Express & Suite Johor Bahru and its team for the great customer service, very comfortable room and strategic location. Keep up the good job everyone ! You are the BEST !!

I have stayed here a couple of times for short weekend shopping runs and this Express Inn basically serves as a basic budget hotel for you to sleep and shower. While it is still new, the rooms are simple yet tastefully done up to serve the basic purpose. Rooms are clean and comfortable with good bed mattresses. Water pressure and hot water supply is strong and fast for a nice shower after a long day of shopping. However, the doors and walls are super thin and we can hear everything that the guests next door talks about, from their family problems to boy girl relationships! Likewise, you can even hear other guests showering with noisy plumbing and drainage works.
Hot breakfast was basic and nothing to shout about. Queues can be long as well while they open up more seatings at the function room beside the 2nd floor cafe. Strangely, we can't charge anything to the room when we ordered a night snack and the cashier insisted we pay at the counter with cash. Egg station served runny and soggy eggs which can be very much improve upon.
Carparking is sufficient and relatively safe with a night guard available. However, it will take some time to exit as drivers have to take their TnG card used for entry to be validated by the front desk which are usually lined with long queues due to understaffed counter.
Overall relative simple, clean and comfortable budget hotel that does the trick for night's rest and shower. Pray for no other guests staying beside you for a good night's sleep and we will also recommend to skip the breakfast and look for other local alternatives within the neighboourhood.

The property is definitely much further away from the city square so it is better to take a taxi although you could walk (20-25mins). The room is small but functional and clean for a no frills stay! They could ensure that the water hose was working and that the tv wasn’t buzzing with lines but it didn’t really affect me since I hardly use it.
Why I would rate it so high is because the service of the staff, Iqbal and the other night shift guy who checked us in was so pleasant and helpful in our stay. I think it just elevates the whole experience when you get a genuine welcome and smile from a person!
Forgot my mask and Iqbal quickly procure a safety pack for me which had a hand sanitizer and mask. You can tell how prepare they are to handle this!
I also truly like that their shampoo and body wash was those refillable dispenser and it helps in being sustainable. I like Dove brand too although unsure if that is their brand standard since I stayed at other properties and never had Dove

looking for a nice and decent hotel in JB may be challenging after the pandemic. some of good hotels pre pandemic turned into horror lately. so after extensive research, i came across this which used to be a rebranding from an old hotel. but i was pleasantly surprised on how clean and spotless the hotel is. i stayed only for one night for transit in JB.
location of this hotel is right in JB city centre, but at a quiet area as there are many govt offices nearby. quite a distance if u want to walk to major shopping malls/CIQ to singapore. but they do offer free shuttle at specific time of the day to those major areas. parking are available at the back of the building but free parking byt the roadside are also available - but can be tricky during working days as there are many govt offices nearby. i arrived at the hotel around 7.30pm. check in was fast and easy. the receptionist was friendly. she explained everything about the hotel including the parking which requires you to go to the back of the hotel. i was assigned at level 7. the room was rather small, but clean & spotless. the room overlooks the building next door & very quiet. not much noise can be heard although located just by the roadside. the only downside is the airconditioner was a bit noisy (sound like its not been serviced for quiet sometime). they uses Dove brand for their shower gel and shampoo. free breakfast available at level 1. nice spread and taste good as well. i took their dinner set of mee kari at rm25 for my dinner. it was delicious! i wish there are bigger room that can be booked. but i wont hesitate to stay here again. plus point: if u r a cat lover, there are few of them right at the doorstep. looks like well taken care of. and i really hope the hotel staffs/management takes good care of those cats. those cats wont disturb u and i hope those who dislike cats dont harm them.

We arrived before 9am on 24 Jun 2022 to the hotel and we asked if we were able to put our luggage/belongings with the hotel before we headed out for breakfast. Juliana, one of the friendly staff said that we were able to check in immediately as there were rooms available. It was so nice of her! The room was clean and tidy. The staff also allowed us to do a late check out to accommodate our driver's timing. It was really sweet of them! I'd definitely head back there again!

Lovely new property with modern rooms and new decor. Was given a room at a very low level with a view of the neighbouring building's wall.
Staffs were pleasant as well in all level. Breakfast spread was typical of a Holiday inn Express - but was pretty substantial and tasted pretty good with a larger selection of condiments and offerings.
Location wise - it is isolated in an area of Government Offices, very very quiet during weekends.

Check-in waited for about 10 minutes and was attended by Mr Fazli. Mr Fazli was very patience explaining to us location of the car park, breakfast timing & location, room facilities and check-out procedure. Nothing much around the hotel area and i think most of the guest has their own transport. Room is not very spacious as washing basin is just beside one the bed. Hotel provides Dove for both body & hair shampoo which I think it's better than those small little bottles provided by other hotels. Breakfast is good enough to fill up our stomach as one should not expect a wide spread of the food. Overall had a good stay except that the air con above is a bit noisy.
