Detailed Reviews
The first impression that got me amazed was their signature scent! As soon as you check in the hotel, you can smell the scent and it feels so Zen.
Hospitality was excellent. Food was 10/10. We tried their breakfast and their buka puasa buffet. They had many choices from western, local, Asian and Middle Eastern.
Cleanliness - 10/10
Sleep - 10/10
Location - 10/10 (literally opposite the midvalley mall)
Rooms are very comfortable for a city hotel. I would definitely recommend everyone to try a stay at the hotel if you have a layover in Johor Bahru or even if you’re visiting Johor Bahru for a while. I had an amazing staycation 🥰

Had a 3N stay in this hotel on the 9th floor over the weekend.
Pros:
~like most say, this is a new hotel so things are all new. ~Receptionist were very pleasant during our check in.
~Customer service is fast on email responding.
~Aircon is working well and room is cozy.
~Breakfast buffet has a very decent variety. However suggest to do some changes say to day, as it gets a-bit sick when we have to eat almost same thing for 3days
- hotel is very near to mall
Cons:
~ only a rain shower head in bathroom. Without a handheld shower head, families with very young kids may find it a challenge to shower them
~ my room had Red ants which has totally destroyed my vacation. Red ants seen on the working desk and even found on the bed. Feedback to front desk in the morning, but their acknowledgment does not sounds reassuring and we still see ants despite housekeeping was done.
We don’t even dare to eat in the room because of this ants. U can see frm picture below/ killed 4-5ants at night and then in morning u will a few more again.
~ the hotel room sewage system is very bad and the toilet simply stinks. I got to hold My breathe whenever I go to toilet. The water on the shower floor also takes time to fully drain off.

Dear Katherine, we are so sorry to hear about your experience. We take all feedback seriously, and we're working on addressing these issues as quickly as possible. First, we're glad the reception staff were pleasant during your check-in. Customer service is a big priority for us, and it's great to hear that you felt well-supported. Second, thanks for letting us know about the breakfast buffet—we'll be sure to make some changes to our offerings soon. Third, regarding the ants: we have a pest control contractor who comes in twice a week to help with these issues, and our continuous effort to resolve the issue. Finally, regarding the toilet: this is an issue that we are aware of and are currently working on resolving.

Deluxe King Size Room - On 15th Floor.
Beds - Really comfortable and had a good nights rest.
Design of room : comfortable with enough space for 1 large and 1 trolley bag. The door would have been better if it was a sliding door to the toilet.
Ambience of room : There was a certain smell in the room, a slight staleness in the room. Lighting was adequate, would have been good if there was a second chair.
Toilet : Rain shower was available. Might have been good to have a hand held shower and being able to close the shower cubicle completely so as not to wet the bathroom. Might have been good to have a concrete cubby hole to put personal belongings like Shower and soap as well. Might have been good to have a second hook for the 2nd towel as well spaced out. For the bidet it would have been good if it was operated by pressing instead of water just spurting out when turning on the tap.
Breakfast : This was the reason for the 4 stars or higher. The selection of food was amazing. Local Teochew porridge, nasi lemak to western food.
Parking : Complimentary parking
Staff : Friendly. However the reception counter is very small.
Lifts : There is no key card access for one side of the lift buttons (the disabled access side).
Location : about 500m walk across a road and through an open air staff carpark to Midvalley Southkey (South Entrance).
Overall a decent overnight stay.

do not choose this hotel anymore if you value your money. The quality has now dropped to like a 3 star hotel or low. only the lobby appearance look nice but the lodging is very bad.
1. Room smells like cigarettes despite being a non smoking room. There are still cigarettes ashes on the dress table. There a warning on $500 recovery charge if found smoking but obviously they don't care. I don't even know if it is the guests smoking or the hotel staff themselves.
2. Shower is 10% slightly warm water, and 90% cold.
3. Shower drain is choke to the brim, within secs the bathroom is at risk of flooding out. If housekeeping is actually working, this would have been spotted and rectified so no, housekeeping doesn't exist. Which come to point 4.
4. There are still rubbish on the floor, dressing table and the phone have liquid stains and ashes on the table.
5. Breakfast doesn't exist if you don't during later half, as the food isn't being topped up fast enough. they staff only topped the food when it's near the end of the breakfast timing. I have seen couples and family only had eggs on their table and one couple came in, walk one round and left without even sitting down, because there is no food AND no available tables.
So no, don't recommend this and never again.

The room smells like a sewage tank. The smell came from the toilet, each time we flushed the smell became worse and permeated the whole room. Even when we walked in the corridor we could smell it faintly wafting from the room. We were given a room on level 13. Called housekeeping who came to spray some detergent but didn't help at all. We informed the receptionist, and she didn't seem at all surprised. We asked the receptionist to request for housekeeping to minimally leave an air refresher in the room so we can neutralise the foul smell. We came back late night and the smell was still there and no refresher was left in the room. The next day we went down to complaint again. They promised to send an engineer to clear the toilet and informed us the issue has been resolved. We took it in good faith that it was resolved and left the hotel for the day. However, when we returned at night, the same sickening smell was in the room. Very annoyed and disappointed. Such a terrible experience. This hotel has severe sewage issues.

Took a break with my kids for 2d1n in this hotel. Hotel staff are great and made u feel welcomed . We bought buffet breakfast at the reception as our package did not include breakfast . Cost of breakfast is at rm85 nett per head . Not sure if this is pricey as compared to other hotels like doubletree Hilton which seems to have more brekkie varieties . But food quality js reasonably ok as compared to st Giles..
Hotel room is clean but issue we have is the room Aircon wasn’t really working . We thought that it will take sometime to get cold but by 3-4am we noted the room is still kept at like 25-28 degree despite us putting it down to 17 degrees.
I would however like to commend on the staff at Oliva Cafe for their readiness to assist during the breakfast time though the time is closing soon as my daughter came down rather late for breakfast.
The egg counter staff Ain readily came back to the egg counter to fry a shiny side up egg when I requested . The other staff like Aisyah and Rina also helped to bring glass of ice and water to us as we can’t get them already at the beverage area . These attentiveness and going beyond the mile with flexibilities from the restaurant staff delight us indeed . Hope this attitude will continue .. keep it up staff of Oliva cafe ! Thank u and well done !

Booked 3 rooms for 2 nights with the family, rooms were spread into 3, end, middle, end.
The middle was the worst! There was such an awful revolting sewage smell that made us nauseous. It came from the bathroom and it's just not a vibe. Went down to the front desk to complain and was told maintenance would come to take a look which they did and they still couldn't fix the problem. Therefore, had to pack everything and change to another room on another floor. For the rest of the stay in the other 2 rooms, we were paranoid that the smell would come which made our stay less enjoyable.
Next, as we are staying as a family, accessing other hotel levels was not allowed using your level's key card which was a hassle + you can't call room to room which was odd & annoying. WiFi & TV even local channels would disconnect from time to time for no reason as well.
The pool was decent despite the construction at the side but lacks atmosphere. Hopefully, once the construction is done, it would be better.
Moving on to the good, the interior of the hotel was nice as well as breakfast which was extensive with good quality and presentation. The staff was professional including their uniform which gave a great first impression. Special shoutout to the Security, Sohan, who helped with our parking, Dina at Front Desk for being informative & welcoming as well as Kirell at Concierge for being warm.

This hotel on paper sounded so good. A safe and short walking distance from Southkey. A new 4 star hotel. Late night street food eateries within a minute’s stroll. But in reality I felt a little let down.
I actually paid a discounted price of about SGD87. And this Sunday night at a 4 star hotel stay is a regular thing for me. But it’s my first time in this hotel.
What they did right: cleanliness, friendly front desk and concierge, location.
What went wrong: showers with no hot water, it was very cold! And there is no handheld showerhead so you had to brave the cold fully rather than to have a “half bath”. They sent a handyman quickly but he only solved there was only lukewarm water for about 5 minutes after then back to “square one”.
And there is more: during checkout the next morning, the lift was not working. The Fire alarm on the lift was sounding. When we rang reception, they said there was a fire drill and couldn’t tell us how long before the lift could be used. It ended up being about half an hour. They should have mentioned it the day before So we could avoid needing to use the lift at that time.
Overall, it could be a very good hotel but maintenance was the issue. As there are many other. hotels to choose from in the area, I would not choose this hotel again as there are others with better pricing and more convenient location, And I did not encounter maintenance issues at the other hotels.

Our first overnight trip in jb after border reopening. Glad I chose this hotel for my birthday. Facility is well kept and clean. Our room 1211 is facing the massive southkey mall. Proximity to mall is convenient. Perhaps due to long closure, room was abit dusty and some stale smell. I wld suggest that rooms dept cld turn on the fan and aircon before guest check in to reduce this unpleasant itchy feeling. Pillows and bedsheets too, though clean, was a tad dusty.
Everything else was great. Breakfast was great with a good range of choices. Carpark was well lit and safe. Staff were all very friendly and professional. This wld definitely be my go-to hotel when we stay over in jb!

Room is dusty and have damp smell, bathroom is extremely in poor condition, stain around the basin, under the basin, the toilet floor, shower area, dust on the window frame. Swimming pool water is dirty not to say dirts in the pool.
I feedback to the housekeeping and supervisor said it is like that and can’t remove the stain. I wrote email to the hotel twice and no reply from them although I requested a reply. They don’t bother customer feedback. Very disappointed.
The only one thing to i would say good is the security guards are well-mannered and really doing their job well.
No more next time!
I feedback to the housekeeping and supervisor said it is like that and can’t remove the stain. I wrote email to the hotel twice and no reply from them although I requested a reply. They don’t bother customer feedback. Very disappointed.
