Detailed Reviews
really really close to JB Central it just 5 min away and the mall just across the street.
the room really spacious, and clean.
they give you toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, shampoo and conditioner, towel and hairdryer are available.
the receptionist really friendly, but the elevator was really small, it only fit 4 people with luggage.
when i came to visit they're doing construction, so some space are quite not ready to use yet, the are some piles of cement outside which is dusty cause when i come it's quite windy that day.
the room is really great for such a price.
re book? yes sure.

Read mixed reviews but decided to go ahead as the location is good and pricing is good. I would say what you pay for is what you get.
The hotel lobby looks welcoming and cosy, but the rooms interior can be improved.
We booked a club suite family, the room given seemed smaller in sizeask vs. the photos, and the single bed is a make shift bed.
We asked for extra towels 3x on day 1 (asked at reception, and it was never delivered. When called again to about the extra towel, we were told housekeeping went home.
Day 2 - I spoke to the staff Radruz at reception, and immediately, he gave us an extra towel and toilet roll over the counter. He is super helpful and friendly and12pm apologetic about we not getting the extra towel. I informed him about the shower head leaking water, and it was very dirty, and asked if it could be changed. I also asked for housekeeping to change bedsheets during room makeup.
Out of 3 requests, 2 were met, and the maintenance guy came to change the shower head! But I'm not sure if it is due to miscomm, the bedsheets seemed not changed as we still see stains on bedsheets.
Overall, I am happy that the shower head was changed and had strong water pressure.
The room needs to be cleaned more thoroughly, floors were clean but the fake window is extremely dirty. We also spotted a lizard in the room and dirty wall.
Wifi is ok, but it will disconnect after a while and will jump to other network.
Another thing to note... there is totally no tissue at all!

I stayed for one night, with breakfast for 2. The breakfast was not satisfying. The mushroom soup had lumps, which should not be happening. The boiled eggs was totally finished at 9am and replenish done 30minutes after. The tea taste more like water as there is no enough tea bags.
Overall room was ok bu tnot very clean as i found insects on bed upon check in, and no proper cleaning is done. Thank you

By far, the worst hotel I every stayed!
Initially, upon checking in the hotel was still all right. The staff was nice and even upgraded us to a room with 2 queen sized beds when we only book for 1 queen and 1 single sized beds for 4 of us. However, upon walking into the room, I was horrified. The floor was filthy with strands of hair and food crumbs, alot was swept under the bed. It is a miracle that I do not see any pest, probably out when is dark n we were sleeping. The toilet basin n toilet bowls were not cleaned and stained, and there even pieces of toilet papers stuck on the floor. There were alot of dust on the headboards, sofa and table. For the price I paid and for a one night stay, We decided not to make a fuss. I used wet tissues to clean instead. Then, we discovered that the windows cannot be closed fully. We were given a 2nd storey room and noises can be heard from outside. We informed the staff but he only apologized and case closed. I could not sleep well the whole night due to the engines sound from the vehicles and the people talking loudly at the shops downstairs. What makes it worse, I can hear clearly of the guests returning to their rooms way up till 3am, the door is totally not sound proof at all. I can also hear the water running when the guest next door is using the water. Lastly, there is also no carpark in this hotel, and you have to park at a nearby building which is pretty scary. The only good thing is the distance to City Square is quite near n convenient and that’s it. This hotel is maybe good for non fussy single travellers, definately not for families with children. Will definately not stay here again and will not recommend to my friends

Recently stayed here for a short getaway with my sis and niece. The photos look nice and new (shown as newly renovated) but we were so disappointed upon reaching. The lobby looks nice but when we checked into our room, the horror! Room is clean but still looks old and doesnt seem to have much renovation done. Toilet was OK but there was a sewer smell lingering, cracks at the sink, some oxidation in the toilet bowl and even a urine smell at one point. I actually had to buy a freshener for the toilet. The room has everything that a standard hotel offers but WIFI is terribly bad! no connection at all even for the LIVE TV (Antenna was bad as well). Had a hard time calling reception as the numbers are not legible on phone. Finally managed to figure out that out after numerous tries only to be told that the maintenance folks are aware of the WIFI connection and have reset it twice! and that's all..no other feedback given if this issue will be settled.
The photos are indeed deceiving. Location is indeed awesome and staffs are nice but that's all. Pricing is ok but they can try to maintain the hotel better and increase the price just a little bit. I don't think people will mind especially if the pricing is much affordable compared to other hotels around that vicinity. They have a great location and shops surrounding them so the management have to seriously consider the conditions of this hotel if they want to make it successful. Else its a no no!

Booking : Booked with using Shopee apps voucher, good discount. I emailed Citrus and replied by Miss Indah. Very smooth booking and quick too.
Location : The location is somewhat unbeatable. Right in the heart of the city and just within walking distance to the transport hub. Just in front of the hotel is the mall and it serves us really well.
Reception : New area is it? Been there last around 2018. Was old. Now is very new and fresh. Love the new lobby area.
Room : Requested for queen bed and high floor. I made a follow up call and answered by Miss Indah herself. When I checked in, I got queen bed and room 814. Nice view. Love it. so much. Room is spacious and very well maintained. AC is cold and the furnitures are clean. Room cleanliness is SPOTLESS, super clean. Love everything. Fresh towel smells floral too. Shower heater works just fine.
Satisfaction : 10/10.
I am totally happy with my stay. Cheers and thumbs up to Miss Indah for your help and kindness. Our stay had been memorable. Really suggest this hotel for other travellers. Theyre very eager to serve you and make you feel like home. I hope to stay again for my staycation soon.

I was holding myself to write a negative review but my second thought that the hotel should do the business ethically. It is unfortunately not fair to the consumer. It is not wrong at all to have renovation at some point to continue to serve customer better but it should be mentioned in the related hotel related booking websites. To my horror, our room did not look like in the photos in the hotel booking sites and it was dirty and uncomfortable. We could bear with the renovation situation but at least the room has to be in acceptable condition. The unavailability of gym facilities was not updated in the website as well. We can't help but felt like being cheated for the money we paid. The hotel should plan the renovation to these horrible rooms as the priority and keep the decent rooms under compromised price to keep the business running and has to be completely honest to pre-inform us on the renovation work.

Rest assured, we're renovating for a better product, and to serve our guests better with quality services and facilities. We have completed our renovation works at the ground floor lobby, toilets, reception, and the newly renovated clubrooms. Moving forward, we're still in the midst of upgrading our club lounge and the additional new rooms are progressing well as per schedule. We spent 2 nights at Citrus Hotel for our family of 5 adults and 1 child. The main reason was its location which was just next to Citysquare, so 5 stars for the location!
It was also within walking distance to CIQ, Jalan Wong Ah Fook, Jalan Tan Hiok Nee and pasar karat with lots of good food nearby. Sikh temple and Johor ancient temple are worth a visit by foot too. There are 2 convenience stores and 2 mobile shops beside the hotel entrance if you need some snacks or sim cards.
We had 3 club rooms on the 10th floor. Not much of a view as all our rooms faced the office tower of Citysquare. Rooms were spacious, simple and average but we saw dust on the tables and hairs on the bed. Aircon was very strong in room 1, ok for room 2 and weak in the room 3. Note: there are no adjoining options for the club rooms.
Curtains could not close properly in 1 of our rooms. Walls/sound proofing wasn't good, sometimes I could hear people talking in the room next door or people talking in the corridor. 2 free bottles of water every day per room and 2 pairs of thin bedroom slippers. We didn't use the electric kettle, fridge or safe box.
Toilet was relatively spacious, hot water and water pressure were ok too. There were some free basic toiletries. Note 1: toilet walls are translucent so it might reflect some shadows to the other person in the room. Not sure if this applies to all rooms so please check with hotel. Note 2: 1 of the toilet corners faces the room (sharp corner), might be a hazard if you have kids running around.
Check in process was smooth. Indah, the duty manager, managed my request via email and remembered me when we checked in. Staff were really friendly! Greeted us everytime we walked past the reception, not forgetting Mr Doorman (sorry, forgot his name) who also helped with our luggage storage after checkout.
Overall, it was a pretty decent stay with the affordable rates and fantastic location. I will stay again in future.

The cafe there provide very cheap and tasty food for lunch. The crew all friendly and deliver good service. The price for all food already cheap but then still got discount on top of all food except the soup so we save a lot hehe. Less than RM9 nett for quite a big portion of food with free drinks (refillable) plus free fruit for appetizer. Hotel food with cheap price and taste good. Satisfied enough! Thumbs up and keep it up!

I think almost completed 75- 80%. You may contact the hotel personally. The receptionist and the associates are all very friendly. Thank you
I guess the renovations is going to be completed in early 2020.
As i was out most of the time it doesnt matter so much for me and the sound of the renovations are quite minimal.
Hi Paula I don’t think there are parking lots in the hotel itself. I saw lots of cars parked infront of the hotel. Perhaps you can call the Citrus Hotel where is the most and safest place for you to park yr car. Thank you and have a great day.
Yes, I saw some guests ask them to keep the luggages and they have a room behide reception to keep. :)
