Stayed for one night in Deluxe Twin Room but without breakfast. Clean room and service to have safe rectified was prompt including giving bath towel which was not there. Slept well. This hotel is perfectly located at Jalan Wong Ah Fook opposite Komtar JBCC, City Square Mall with McGregor's Bar next door. Also walking distance to Kota Raya and other nearby eateries. The Indian lady at front desk was very helpful and fast in processing my booking. Will stay at this place again.

Needing to make a sudden evacuation due to a bad cough, I chose this hotel because of the proximity to CIQ and to malls I was familiar with - and also the price that was pretty good! Photos seemed to suggest it was decent... and not to say it isn't, but it was a bit underwhelming when I tapped my key card at the door. It's a functional and clean room overlooking Jalan Wong Ah Fook (though even on the 18th floor I can still hear the band at the bar below play music clearly), with a shower that you have to turn on heating yourself, an aircon that's a bit too cold and only 3 power ports in the room, 2 of which are taken up by table lamps. Distance is fantastic, and eminently walkable to Komtar, City Square and CIQ - but if I had more time I'd probably go to Amari next door.

The location of this hotel is excellent. It is right next to 2 major malls and there are loads of eateries within a walking distance. What I was quite disappointed was that the room was very small for the price I paid. No cupboard and once you open you luggage, hardly any room to walk. It's a shame because I like the location. I was amazed at the internet connection which was quite strong. The staff was not friendly especially the day I was checking out.

Great hotel with superb service & hospitality.
We had close to 15 rooms booked over the 1st weekend of December 2023 and the hotel ensured a smooth check in for all my guest.
A big thank you to Duty Manager Roopa for her excellent service in assisting with all my request even before my check in date.
Rooms are clean and the Housekeeping team were spot on for their services.
I will definitely be visiting this property in the near future. - Amrit

Basically we nearly needed to change room more than once a night.... It was my partner's birthday trip and honestly, we did not expect the hotel to be this bad as we've hear good review from a friend.
We checked in at 11pm on a Friday night and was given room: 811. We turned on the Aircon in the room and saw that our bed have black specks, we tried to sweep away and decided to deal with it after we come back because we have a massage appointment at 11.30pm.
We reached back the hotel at almost 2am.... There were even more black specks on our bed and I told my partner that I suspected that the Aircon is dirty. My partner used his hand to swipe the Aircon vent, and it was black and dusty, so we went down to reception to request for room change.
The staff suggested to send housekeeping and maintenance up to check for us. We went back up and maintenance and housekeeping came almost immediately, the moment maintenance checked the Aircon, he told us to change room, we packed up and went down to take new key card, and so we did.
Then new room: 822 Aircon was fine but when my partner showered, he realised there was no hot water even though we turned on the heater? And when he wanted to dry hair, the dryer was not working too.
We both showered with cold water at 2.30am, and after we were done, I called to reception and told the same staff again about what happened to the new room. Same maintenance staff came up, and he realised the heater and hair dryer power tripped so he reset it.
Finally we had warm water to shower and dry hair in the morning. Morning I tried to turn on the TV, but there is sound but no visual....
By then, we had given up. Honestly the saving grace was the convenient location and really great front desk staff and quick maintenance and house keeping staff.

Recommended room to stay: If anyone would like to stay on this property, kindly, proceed to make a reservation via the official website and choose Executive Room - King Size bed with Breakfast. The room is spacious and comfortable for the couple. I really like the room.
Once again, thank you so much, everyone.
See you in July 2022 for the forthcoming staycation!
Take care.
Regards,
Dziauddin Mahamud.

1 night staycation @ JB on 7 Apr and decided to try Fives Hotel. Good location. Walking distance to City Square and CLQ. Friendly staff as well. However, lots of flaws in their hotel amenities.
We stayed at Room 721. Hair dryer, locker, and heater were not working. Soap not provided so if you like to wash your hand, you have to use the shower foam instead.
Room size was small but cosy. Breakfast not fantastic. For a price of 246 ringgit, i rather top up a bit more for better hotel.

While I can’t be sure if this hotel is ranked as 3 or 4 stars, but it felt more like a very expensive budget hotel in the heart of JB city. On the plus side, the location is great and convenient to get around with eateries close by, but that’s about it. The room was small and facilities in it weren’t great, the gym was tiny and only accessible via a spiral staircase that isn’t people friendly and the parking lot gives me anxiety. For the price paid, I think you can get a better hotel if you don’t mind being slightly further away from the centre.

Decent business hotel in the middle of town.
Location: located right in-front of jbcc and plenty of food around.
Room: Booked the deluxe king for my short business trip. The room is tiny but comfy for two. Overall cleanliness can be improved. The toilet bowl was not properly scrubbed, mold on the sealants in the shower area and sink. The room is on the 11 floor so as expected, there were soundproofing issue as were facing a busy street. Consider requesting room on the other side if youre a light sleeper.
Parking is available for free for guest. Just make sure you get the parking voucher stamped. If you drive big long car be careful driving up because the driveway is quite small.
Breakfast choice is very basic but it was good and the staff are 5-stars quality. Kudos to Ganesh for his hospitality.

+1
I booked this cos of its location - opposite to two big malls, and next to a small one with convenience store and restaurants.
Stayed 2 nights and more than enough!
Small room. Very similar to those in tokyo and osaka
Hair, ugly and unacceptable stains on bed sheet. Request a change of room.
Hair on the floor and bathroom.
Wooden tiles floor is good and easy to clean. But no maintenance.
No fridge. No small towel for drying hair. No slipper (upon request). No comb.
Yellowish towel with the smell of bleach.
Poor sound proof. I heard my neighbour packing luggage.
Loud house music on the corridor. Xmas songs start at 7.30am. I could hear them clearly inside the room.
Malfunction TV: no visual. But there’s sound/audio. Fine. I watch youtube videos
Malfunction AC. 16’c and 26’C are same
Wrong setting of AC, blew towards my head entire night. Headache. Am i supposed to open the windows?
Bad shower design. Flooding after shower.
Frontline staff do not respect hotel’s environmental friendly policy: change my towel even i indicated i dont need one.
