Detailed Reviews
Stayed at this location over the weekend with my family. Had the family suite, rooms were spacious and nicely done up. Room had only 2 wall sockets near the TV. Staff was every friendly, and was able to provide some recommendations around the area. The water dispensing machine at every floor was very convenient. My only issue was we could hear people singing (probably from next unit karaoke) late at night. Warning note - Those parking in the number lots; you might wanna put the parking coupons as we saw lots of cars getting summons next morning.

A hotel that is value for money and a good base to explore the Taman Pelangi area.
The room is functional and spacious enough, and the soap and shampoo provided seem to be of better quality than other hotels within the same price range.
Will recommend

Nice lobby and service by receptionist. Boutique hotel feel however the room is very small.
Poor soundproof as you can hear adjacent neighbour or corridor noises. Worse, beside the hotel is ktv and you can hear the singing loud n clear.
They have provided complimentary shampoo etc which seems good quality.

Bad. NOT SAFE for female traveller.
The room was clean and tidy. Good cleaning staff, very polite, respectful & helpful.
The reception staff bad. Not helpful, breeched privacy policy by telling strange man pretending to be a friend, that I was staying in hotel. Did not speak English well. Poor service.
When leaving I asked for help to bus Sentral, showed reception my bus ticket and they sent me to the wrong bus sentral. Cost me extra 18rm in taksi 😡

Never really tried a small hotel as we always stayed at all the full service hotel in JB. Decided to give this place a shot as the pictures looked decent and nice.
Booked the Junior Suite and glad that the room was ready upon arriving at 1PM. The whole car journey was about 10mins away from JB City Centre. Check-in was also easy and fast. The lobby looks sleek and hip.
The Junior suite was clean and sufficient. Room size definitely can’t compare to a full service hotel’s junior suite. The bath-tub was big. The plus points that the water heater works super well and the AC was cooling throughout the night. (was a little worried as there were some feedbacks regarding the latter) $60+ for the room was worth it. The bed firmness was great too as I had a good nights rest.
Didn’t really like the pillow (personal preference). I had a bad neck ache the next day. There wasn’t any room slippers provided as well. Next building there was a karaoke center, my goodness we could hear them singing in the late night which was pretty annoying. The rooms wasn’t sound proof as well (which we already expected from the past reviews). Wi-Fi was also a little weak, but decent and useable.
We also paid for an additional hour of check-out till 2PM at 20ringit. Reasonable price. Check out staff was very polite and nice.
Overall, the area was nice to explore and there were many nice cafes and food stalls. There were a few massage places as well. Giant supermarket was just a 10mins walk away and we even got to enjoy some good bowling time inside the small mall.
Will I come back again? Maybe not really. Due to the location, we prefer to have big shopping malls easily accessible and walkable.
But this hotel is decent, clean and good for just a short stay. It was a nice experience!

Stayed at night cos of the location but unfortunately this hotel nearby a lot of so called singing practice lounge. Can heard next door karaoke. During midnight plenty of drunkard stayed at this hotel & making fuss with shouting or banging walls in room. Management should do something in future. Parking very limited as this is a shoplots hotel. Pros side nearby lots of eateries and it's a new hotel.

Responded 3 Dec 2019
Dear Customer, we are very sorry for your bad experience. On that particular night you stayed with us, a couple staying in another room had a bad fight but we had ask them to lower down their volume as soon as possible. We will look at steps on how to improve our hotel overall. And we hope to welcome you back to our hotel soon. Thank you very much for your feedback. :)

I first chanced upon Atelier Hotel Johor Bahru during a visit to Taman Pelangi’s Pasar Malam (Street Market) last year. So, I decided to check out this boutique hotel with an overnight stay here.
Opened in 2019, this hotel is in the heart of Taman Pelangi. For those unfamiliar with this district, the landmark to look out is Pelangi Plaza, a shopping mall located 1.3km away. Below are the distances and travelling times by car from the hotel to the various popular shopping malls:
* KSL City Mall - 2.9km (7 mins)
* Johor Bahru City Square Mall - 3.8km (8 mins)
* The Mall, Mid Valley Southkey - 5.3km (11 mins)
Upon arrival at the hotel, I was requested to make a RM50 deposit for my check in registration. The hotel theme is industrial chic which is aesthetically pleasing. The rooms are on the ground, first, second and third floors. I had booked the Standard Queen Room and was accommodated in Room No. 306. The Slumberland Mattress and Pillow are comfortable which provided me with a restful sleep. Although the room is a little small, the bathroom is rather spacious. Do remember to turn on the water heater switch to enjoy your hot shower. A water dispenser is provided at the hotel corridor for your drinking needs. Unfortunately, TV entertainment is limited to local and Singapore channels. Wi-Fi is reliable. There is no power socket at the bedside. As I did not bring my USB charger, the Front Desk Staff was kind to lend it to me with a RM50 deposit.
There is a rooftop garden on the same floor where my room is situated. It is a lovely place to relax the night away. Although there is no food and beverage outlet at the property, there are plenty of various amenities in the vicinity such as 24hrs convenience stores, a food court, coffeeshops, cafés, restaurants, bars, massage centres and hair salons.
If you are a pasar malam (street market) lover, I recommend staying here on Sunday or Wednesday nights. A street market operates between 6.30am to 10am every Monday and Thursday in this area (Refer to my Google Review). However, if you prefer a quiet place to rest, avoid your stay on these two days as this area gets noisy and chaotic with heavy traffic.
There are reviewers mentioning of a noise issue, whereby the singing at the neighbouring singing centre on the first level only stopped close to midnight. Although my room is situated next to a building where the singing centre is located, it is one level higher. As such, I only heard scant singing sounds for a while during the evening and night on a Friday. So, it is not an issue for me. You can request for ear plugs from the Front Desk should you find the noise unbearable.
As a budget category hotel, Atelier Hotel Johor Bahru is a cut above the rest among the budget properties I had stayed in Johor Bahru. The room is clean and well maintained. I recommend a stay to experience the local atmosphere in this residential district, if you find the city centre or nearby KSL district crowded with overseas travellers.

We stayed at the hotel for a night and had the most humiliating experience.
This was our first time staying here.
We booked 2 rooms, one for myself n hubby, and the other one for a friend. Actually the room was pretty nice and the bed was comfy. HOWEVER THE SERVICE WAS OUTRAGEOUS!
On the second morning when we checked out, the housekeeper claimed that the bottle carriers were missing. (The hotel provided 2 water flasks each with a carrier.) So my friend told both the housekeeper and the receptionist that he didn’t use the flask (he carried his own water bottle) and wasn’t aware that the flasks supposedly came with carriers. The housekeeper and the receptionist insisted that they checked the room before our check in and the carriers were there. We questioned how would the guest know what were the items meant to be present in the room when there wasn’t even a check list to start with? The staff simply ignored our question and insisted that my friend took the carriers and we had to reimburse the hotel.
My friend was very upset but to prove his innocence he offered to let the staff checked his bags. My opened his bag and took out all the items and let them see. The hotel staff couldn’t find anything and yet still insisted that we had to pay for the ‘missing’ items.
By then 15 minutes had passed and we just wanted to leave soonest possible. In the end we were charged RM 13 (less than USD 3). The receptionist issued a receipt with no details and I had to request for a new one.
So fellow travelers, PLEASE be cautious if you are to stay in this hotel.
SHOCKINGLY HORRIBLE SERVICE!
