Surprised to see how spacious the room is. Good value breakfast and room. All staff are very welcoming . Special mention to Amari Host Wawa. Lovely lady who went extra mile for a last minute birthday request. Will definitely stay again. Will be better if parking is free.

I slipped over the border from Singapore to JB for a couple of days and chose to stay at Amari.
The hotel is top quality in terms of service and mod cons. It’s billed as 5 star but I would say it’s somewhere between 4 & 5 star standard.
It’s also very cheap for those coming from Singapore or outside SE Asia at AUD 100 a night (you’d pay at least triple that for the same hotel in Singapore). This reflects the reality that JB is very different to Singapore in terms of economic activity, socio-economic makeup and levels of development.
The hotel & room was slick and modern and very comfortable and I spent longer in it than expected because I was so relaxed in there. Wifi worked very well and the bathroom & shower was nice and big.
The pool level was great too with decent views out to JB and a large pool to swim in with lots of sunbeds.
The concierge team were enthusiastic when responding to requests. They were happy to book me a taxi over to a local spa for a message and were very responsive to my email queries prior to arrival on booking local tours.
Unfortunately booking tours (not fault of staff) including the Kota Tinggi fireflies was frustrating because I was a solo traveller and apparently the tour companies accepted a minimum of 2 guests and there was a lot of back and forth with changes in circumstances. I ended up contacting the firefly tour operator directly and they had a driver booked and confirmed for me (1 person) within an hour at a decent rate.
Overall I really enjoyed my stay at Amari - it was the perfect place to bliss out for a few days over the border.

A lot to digest? Read an AI-generated summary of recent traveller reviews.
Room is clean and well equipped with enough storage. The design of the room is carefully done to keep noise from the toilet almost none. Everything is updated even the smart tv.
Breakfast is good as they serves a good variety of high quality food. Gourmet coffee is complimentary with no extra cost, starts from 6:30am is good if you have an early meeting.
Potters works very efficiently, just drop your bag at ground floor before heading to level 6 for check in. Bags were delivered the moment I reached my room. Super efficient!
All staff is friendly and helpful.

On a last minute change of plan when our road trip was temporarily halted due to a vehicle breakdown we found ourselves knocking on Amari Hotel's door in the wee hours of the morning, just past 3am.
A quick scan to all third party booking websites would not allow us to make a reservation online as our timing was in a 'grey' area. We could only make reservations for the current check in which would be past 12 noon. Online published rate at MYR250 thereabouts was fair and reasonable while walk in rates were more then double.
To be fair, this seemed to be the case of all hotels in Johor at that hour and being closer to Amari we decided to take a chance and walk in to ask for a more reasonable rate.
The hotel is connected to a shopping centre with their reception on the sixth level. We enquired comparing their online rate to their published rate, reasoning that our check in was close to 3.30am and check out would be at 12 noon, however our request was denied. If we could book online we were informed that the hotel would honour the online price but would have to charge us their walk in rate otherwise. Travelling with a toddler we had no choice to pay more then twice the room rate and opted for a standard room with an extra bed which took sometime to arrive.
We did not stay long enough to experience the hotel and its facilities as we left a few hours later just before noon. The room was comfortable being of good size with a smallish bathroom with one sink and a frosted glass panel that opens to the room. A sliding wardrobe door panel will easly conceal any transparency issues if one slides it back.
The bathroom could do with better cleaning as mould was visible in certain areas which was unsightly. Overall not an impressive enough hotel to command such exorbitant published room rates for walk in guests.

While I am delighted that overall you were pleased with the guest room, we are deeply concerned for the bathroom condition and we had fallen short of your expectation. We hope this did not discourage you from planning another stay with us, as we very much look forward to welcoming you back on your next visit to Johor bahru. Booked this hotel based on my friend's recommendation as she shared that room and breakfast spread was really good.
Smooth check-in at the Executive Lounge.
Room condition - Well maintained and comfortable
Toilet - Cleaned
I would say the only flaw for the room is the smoke detector censor at the ceiling. It's right above the bed and it has a very bright blinking light when the room is in total darkness. It's very distracting when you try to sleep.
Apart from this, I guess, overall for room condition, it's good.
We get to select to either have breakfast at the Executive Lounge or at the Cafe on level 6. The selection of food at the Executive Lounge was disappointing. We went to the Cafe on level 6, hoping that variety will be better (since it's highly recommended by my friend). It's disappointing when we walked 1 round looking at the selection. Suggest the Chef to revamp and improve on breakfast buffet varieties.
The team members across the hotel were friend and full of smiles. They greeted every guest they met along the way.

My room bathroom shower ares tiles was dirty. Visible stain between tiles.
Apart from that the room was great and the breakfast spread was good. The breakfast staff need to check frequently the fresh milk at the coffee/espresso machine. It was empty for a while and the guest need to remind the staff about it. Hotel is located centrally with easy and convenient access.

Popped here for a quick 3 day break in early March. Hotel is located literally 10 minutes from the Singapore border. Super ideal if you don’t want to venture far into JB as soon as you cross the bridge into Malaysia.
Arrived before 11am and were given a room before 12. Emelsie checked us in and she was fantastic. The room provided was a family suite and it was very comfortable.
Main reason we chose here is because the location is extremely close to the Angry Birds children’s play park, located in the shopping mall next door. Great for our child and our friends children too. We came in as part of a group with another family and again they felt the same regarding location and room.
Only downside was the quality of the food. I didn’t think the choice or quality of food during evening dinner buffet / breakfast was good. I wouldn’t eat here again. We had dinner at another hotel around 20 mins away and their evening buffet was fantastic.
Grab taxi etc. super easy to get. We went to the mall where Ikea is. Great day out.
Pros - the service from Emelsie was excellent. Thank you. The quality of room was also comfortable and I would be very happy to visit again in the future. The lobby was very nice and it was great to see the pool table and business centre in great condition. Sorry to see so many cancellations but we were lucky to have visited when we did before the MCO was in place.
Cons - food quality. Disappointment. But the service again by Emelsie made up for this.

It's my first time staying and probably my last time too. I feel that firstly, the aircon in the room is too cold despite setting to the max temperature (30 degrees). The lobby is even colder. not sure why. One thing i like about the hotel is the convenient location which is just opposite komtar mall and very near to city square as well. The beds are also comfortable to sleep on. Staff are generally quite friendly and helpful.
Other than the abovementioned, I would like to highlight that the cleanliness can be improved further. There were some ants on the working desk, not sure why. I also found used coloured contact lens in one of our rooms' desk beside the bed (probably left by previous customer). The toiletries could have been better for a 5-star hotel as we find the toothbrush bristles are too hard and the shampoo + shower gels are of low quality.
Will probably try other hotel if i visit JB again.

I will highly recommend this hotel to everyone out there!
You can only expect top-notch and quality service from the staff, whom never fail to greet you and smile to you when you arrive at the lobby. Even though I check-in super early at 9 am when most of the rooms are not ready, the hotel staff assisted me to check in first and allow me to store my luggage at the hotel so that i proceed to travel and explore JB without lugging my heavy bag around. The check in was also a fast and efficnent, and I manage to check in within 5 mins. Something that I felt personalized and impressive about this hotel is that they will even whatsapp you when your room are ready
Having to stay at TROVE and St Giles recently, I have to admit that the quality of service and room is greatly different! You will just feel that your money you pay to Amari is super value for money and you won't find stains on your bedsheets. I will definitely come back again whenever I hop by to JB again

I am a traveller Pls call directly to hotel 🏨
1) Re parking, I never drove there. I believed Amari has good parking facility.
2) You have to cross the road to get to Komtar and City Square shopping malls. Standby umbrella in case it rains and you want to get across.
3) Holiday Inn is just above Komtar shopping mall which is linked to City Square.
Enjoy your holidays there, friend!
Yes. Public can use the hotel carpark. You can enter the car park either via Touch & Go or via Entry Tickets and make payments at the ticketing machine before leaving the carpark once you're done.
