Very limited English by staff. Good service. Free breakfast: rice, onigiri, wheat tea, nado, sweet meatballs, preserved veg, miso soup, chopped cabbage, toast! Butter packet but no knife to spread it. Bread roll. Starts at 6:30 till 9 am. Long queue at 6:30. Crowded but orderly. Everyone quiet. Many are on business and they go to the office afterwards. Toiletry items such as combs are at lift lobby. Toothbrush & a small tube of toothpaste in the room. Get your fresh piece of PJ (like a shirt with knee-length) from the sterilising cupboard near the lobby. Washing machine & drier at the ground floor behind the reception area. Coin operated. Laptop & printer to use for free at reception lobby. Wifi good. Password on your TV screen after you figure out how to turn it on. No English channel. There are Eng news preloaded from YouTube if you find the topic suits you. The room is very small. But space to hang clothes, 2 suitcases 1 medium, one hand carry size still ok to move around. You store them under the bed! Very small bathroom very decent. Pant pressing machine. Tiny boiler boils 300ml each time. The boiler doubles as a humidifier. Only green tea powder available. The LCD TV can connect to a laptop as a projector. So you can actually watch whatever you can stream on the internet. That is if you are traveling with your laptop.

Stayed for 3 nights from 25-28 Oct. Clean room and small bathroom comfortable for a 5ft medium size. I chose to join their eco plan without any daily cleaning and enjoyed 600 yen savings. Treat it as your own room back home so everything can still be nice and clean without cleaning. I used their coin launderette which is very convenient. Staff was friendly and helpful. Complimentary breakfast was healthy and tasty. Rice served was Number One and produced in Aomori...nice texture. There’s an ice machine and microwave which comes in handy when you need them. I based myself at this hotel which is located diagonally opposite Hachinohe Station and access to JR Bus to Oirase Stream and Lake Towada. I did another day trip to Chusonji Temple and Geibikei Gorge on the same day and enjoyed myself thoroughly. And booked myself to return from Geibikei on the special themed Pokémon train! So fun & exciting! Worth mentioning was the boat ride at Geibikei Gorge where our boat-lady entertained us with Japanese folk songs. Lovely face, powerful voice and physically strong to manage the traditional boat. Soaked in the beauty of Autumn colours..Totally relaxing!!

Toyoko Inn Hachinohe-ekimae is located very near to Hachinohe Station, perhaps just within 5 min of walking distance on level ground. As in other Toyoko Inns, the room is well designed and very user friendly. Good service and complimentary no-frills breakfast. Recommended for travelers on budget

Turn right to East Exit after exit Hachinohe station ticket gate. When you go down escalator, you will be able to see the Inn in the opposite side. There is a convenient Lawson shop that you will pass by. Few restaurants around the Inn as well. Room is very small, barely enough space to move and can only open one luggage at a time. Friendly staff. We reserved for non smoking room but entered the room and smell strong smoking smell. Had to open the window for a while. As we arrived late and tired, did not ask the counter to change the room. In the morning, you can hear the train track sound as the hotel is very near train station. Did not try their breakfast as our package did not include that. Typical Japanese breakfast, toast, rice, salad. Overall pleasant stay. Wi-Fi is good in the room. No foreign language channels. Surrounding has nothing much to offer.

NOTE AT BOTTOM OF THIS REVIEW... I've stayed at a number of Toyoko Inns throughout Japan, and for the price, you can't beat them 99% of the time. (Not including hostels). This one in Hachinohe is conveniently located a block and a half from the train station As with all Toyoko Inns, they are very clean, well maintained, staff is very friendly and accommodating. They all offer breakfast in the morning. The breakfasts vary from hotel to hotel. Rate for double here was 58.00 USD NOTE: if you plan on staying at smaller business type of properties, I would very highly recommend Toyoko Inn. They have a membership card that you can buy for about 10.00 USD. This card allows you discounts at all of their properties, and additional savings on weekends. You book rooms on-line on their website. It also allows you an earlier check-in at 3:00pm (regularly 4:00pm) Another note, if you are staying more than one night and you don't need to have your bed changed or room cleaned, you can tell the that you just want fresh towels and they will knock off 3.00 per night.
