The Akita Castle Hotel was lovely, with one major exception. THE INTERNET IN THE HOTEL ROOMS IS TERRIBLE. If you don’t need to come here for business (and, thus, don’t need WiFi), then this is a great hotel. Very nice location. Good, clean rooms, friendly staff. Just don’t expect to use the internet during your visit. Free parking for hotel members.
Akita being quite remote this hotel was recommended to me to be the only good choice. It turned out to be a disappointment for me. Being on the pricey side for this very remote area I expected better service and better lodging. Positive is the sufficient room size. Period. The restaurants choices are very limited. The western restaurant was closed due to a group booking. The only choices left were a Japanese restaurant and Chinese. We decided for the Chinese. Portions small, prices high. The quality was OK but nothing above average Chinese food. The Wi-Fi in the room was not working. The front desk couldn’t help me. Difficult to judge the quality of the hotel in stars. If the price would be 40% cheaper I would say OK. It is not bad to stay for one night on a business trip. But don’t expect too much when looking at the price. …
I visited there for a night when I went to akita for conference. Unfortunately I had to return to Tokyo early in the next morning, but I could still enjoy the hotel. It is very clean and staff are very kind. The price is reasonable. This is an impeccable hotel to stay for business and sightseeing. とても清潔で立派なホテルでゆったりと気持ちよく過ごせました。秋田に行くときには毎回お世話になっているます。
I arrived at the hotel early, and they gave me an early check- in, much appreciated. I was given Room 619, a spacious room with a double bed, a large work desk, big flat- screen TV, a large closet and a larger than usual bathroom. Excellent room. The internet was fast all the time. The bedding was excellent and there were memory foam and regular pillows on the bed. The bed was firm and comfortable, and the window opened wide for lots of fresh air, so I slept well. The bathroom functioned well; it was styled like the classic biz hotel bathroom, but with a lot more space and a nice temperature- control shower / tub armature. The amenities were above standard. Breakfast was good, with a reasonable selection and good quality. I was hoping that the lobby bakery’s goods would be on offer for breakfast, but alas. The staff were excellent, very helpful and thoughtful. The fellow who checked me in took the time to walk around the hotel to the garage area to show me the best place to stow my bicycle. Very thoughtful and caring. The hotel has lots of meeting rooms on several floors, and a number of good shops adjacent to the lobby. There is a Lawson konbini which can be entered via the lobby. The bakery is excellent and offers gift- wrapped goods to take back to friends. The hotel has a lot of charm and though not close to the station, it is close to the castle grounds and many of the restaurants.…
I loved Akita and I enjoyed this hotel. The room wasn’t overly large but we managed although organising the power for equipment took some working out. The beds were Japanese single-and-a-half and after one night sharing we resorted to separate beds. Laundry was expensive as usual. The printed form quoted 350 Yen for shirts but I was charged 600 because they were dry cleaned not washed (this is not shown on the printed form). Best feature – the dining room and associated cake shop. The chef was happy enough to adapt the menu to my vegetarian tastes. There is also inside access to a Lawson convenience store. The hotel is minutes away from lovely Senshu Park and close to the railway station.
First of all the hotel staff was so helpful in making bookings. With the language barrier they just made life much easier. We took the airport bus from Akita airport and the bus stops ride outside by the hotel! The Akita train station is an 8 minute walk just straight down. No way to get lost! Rooms are huge compared to other hotels with great amenities.
Stayed at the Castle Hotel when visiting Akita on business. The hotel is in a great location for exploring the city and main shopping and dining areas. Service was efficient and effective. The rooms, by Japanese standards were large and comfortable. A good option when visiting Akita.
:: One of the best hotels in Akita :: What I could say about this hotel is that it has several benefits to your stay. The location is very central where you can walk about 10 minutes to JR Akita and shopping centres. It is located just across the road in which you can walk to the famous cherry blossom viewing spot, Senshukoen (Senshu Park). The hotel provided all the amenities as much you can expect from Japanese hotels. The lobby, the room, walkway is all spacious. What I love about this hotel is that there's several shops and minimart within hotel ground and a small clinic as well as bakery store. The breakfast is great with variety of menu to choose both Japanese and Western. The bedroom is large but the WiFi is slow with the speed up to 3.70 mbps.
Had the opportunity to visit Akita and was booked in Castle Hotel next to the city's museum. While rooms are small compared to International Standards (they do have larger rooms available) my room was very convenient and clean. The bathroom was small but adequate and the fittings worked well. Nice to have warm toilet seat in the colder month. International TV channels a little limited with only CNN America as English TV channel. The hotel main restaurant was nice with a generous breakfast buffet serving Japanese and Western dishes. Staff was very attentive and does speak English mainly at the reception. There is a lovely Bakery shop next to the main restaurant. They also have a nice Japanese restaurant (we had one delicious meal there) a small Chinese restaurant and a Lawson Convenience store accessible from the lobby of the hotel. All in all a wonderful stay with impeccable staff and service. Highly recommendable.…
We stayed for 3 nights in a double room. The room was clean, the bed comfortable. The bathroom was small but a large deep bath. We had a view of the canal. The hotel is a easy walk to the castle park which was very busy for cherry blossom time. The hotel has a cake shop and a Family Mart, there is a Subway just to the rear of the hotel and a nice small restaurant across the road. The art gallery has a small coffee shop. It is an easy walk to the station and shopping centre. We enjoyed our stay in Akita.
