There's a real friendly and welcoming atmosphere in the hostel, the owners and staff are really nice and helpful. We stayed in the dorm which was Japanese style, clean, comfortable bed and good AC. The kitchen was fully equipped so we could actually cook for ourselves well. The location is good, short walk to the tram and onsen. Shared bathroom,...

Very friendly and knowledgeable hosts. Great value for money. Quite hard to find (Japanese GPS directs you to the road parallel if you enter the phone number - a low-key re-light district). Rooms are simple and spotless. The roof terrace is an additional bonus. Shared bathroom / onsen system works well. Can't think why anyone would stay anywhere else in...

I'm so glad I made a side trip to Matsuyama and had the opportunity to spend a night at this great guesthouse! I arrived a little early and was greeted by Noriko when I was stowing my bag in the luggage room. She pleasantly checked me in early and when I realized I had spent all my cash for the...

That was an amazing review, and yes, I was the nappy blonde guy that said "hi" to you on the staircase. We are super proud of our guesthouse and happy that you could see that. I do agree, 1 night is definitely not enough for Matsuyama. Actually Matsuyama makes a great base for all the attractions in the area: island...

this was my second time staying in Sen Guesthouse. i very much enjoyed the experience. Matthew and Noriko are a great host and hostess. my room was lovely. (note, however, that a guesthouse is like a hostel -- there are *no* on-suite bathrooms, etc.) having a kitchen to use, and the nice common areas to sit in to eat, study,...

A friendly, calm and great value hostel-style guesthouse, in a solid modern building with both tatami mat private rooms and shared dorms. Private rooms have washbasins; toilets and showers are shared. Breakfast is not provided but there are free hot drinks and a shared kitchen. There's free wifi, a pleasant communal area and a roof terrace. The chatty American manager...

Nothing to complain! Everyone is super friendly and the hostel offers many services for those who want to experience Japanese culture: rental yukata, a bar with local brews/sake and more... The guesthouse is located close to one of Matsuyama's main sights (Dogo Onsen), very clean and the beds/futons are really comfortable. I want to come again! :) Thanks guys!

We stayed two nights (one in the mixed dormitory and one in a private twin room) attracted by the owners' enthusiasm for walking the Camino in Spain and their knowledge of the 88 Temple Path on Shikoku. We were SO glad we did. Not only was it an extremely friendly and comfortable guesthouse but also Matthew and Noriko were so...

We booked a private Japanese style room at the Sen. The room was a good size with a view. The futons were comfortable and the room was spotless. The guest house is close to Dogo Onsen, restaurants and a fantastic bakery. Mathew from the Sen was very proactive in contacting us after our booking with information and directions. When we...
