We expected this is a good Japanese Ryokan but finally we got a different experience. The Ryokan location is good and near several hells of Beppu and the bus terminus of 鐵輪. There are totally seven rooms in this home-styled Japanese Ryokan, three open-air baths and three indoor baths. The first and second open-air bath is good but can find some mosquitoes there, the temperature is better for the first one but the second one is ok too. At the end of the corridor there is a third "Open-air" bath but the temperature of the water is not hot enough and not so "Open-air". The smallest indoor bath is located next to the entrance and the other two are located downstairs and are good for bathing too. Rooms are generally large but the air conditioner of the middle room in 3rd floor needed to be repaired, the air conditioner in the dining area also needed to be repaired too, food is delicious but high temperature in the dining area make you not wearing Yukata, you must change to short for comfortablilty. The corridor in 3rd floor also very hot. It seems that summer is not a good timing for visiting this Ryokan. HP of this Ryokan mentioned that massage is included and required booking but when we asked, massage is priced but when we asked for the free one in HP, reply is “busy”. So never expecting such free service. Also, this Ryokan needed us to pay for the onsen tax of kids, unlike other Ryokan which does not require. We check out at 10:00 and some people of our group waiting for our rented car’s return, the owner stopped the air conditioner in the lobby. We left our luggage there as we need to hire a car for sightseeing and the car cannot accommodate 8 people and 6 luggages together so it is best to left the luggages in Ryokan until we finish. Ryokan owner only allowed to keep the luggage to a certain time and though we know we cannot return back on time, but we must have somewhere to left the luggage, finally we got back and found our luggages are already putting outside the lobby unattended. We had just getting back our luggage and not seeing any staff/owner there. We just getting back the luggage and drive away. So, please consider not left your luggage in this small Ryokan as possible, there are really no resources for handling this kind of extra request.…
Our room was very big and the view was nice. The best thing was the relaxing soak in the hot water in the beautiful outdoor bathrooms. You can buy a sulfur-egg, but it's rather expensive. There was Wifi, but I didn't use it. The bus station is "Kannawa".
