Enjoyed two relaxing nights at the Amane Resort Seikai. Suites were very large, even by Western standards. Although there was a bedroom, we ended sleeping in the tatami room adjacent to the living room just for the experience. It was actually quite comfortable. Of course, the highlight of the room was the private onsen with oceanview. It's always nice to be able to enjoy onsen without seeing other naked people. Although, we did go take a look at the public onsen on the roof, unfortunately, it's not outdoors which was kind of disappointing, it would have been rather appealing if you could look out at the ocean from the roof onsen. Opted for two kasikei dinners, although there was a French option which we didn't take. The hotel was very courteous to arrange the second kasikei dinner at the neighboring Amane Gahama resort, about a 3 minute walk away, but the hotel also provided a golf cart to drive use over. While both meals were excellent with impeccable service, I actually enjoyed the second meal at Gahama a bit more, but wandering around the Gahama after the second dinner, I also noticed the rooms at Seikai are far superior. Staff at the hotel is spectacular, actually a lot of foreign staff. I suspect they have some arrangement or even a hospitality services school. Some of the best English speaking staff I've ever encountered in Japan. My only regret was that the hotel was so nice, that we were reluctant to explore the city and just relaxed in our hotel suite. We did get out for a brief venture to five of the Beppu Hells, which was still a worthwhile experience. Highly recommend this hotel, and if you can't find a room, book directly through the Amane Resort website.

I spent my first two hours doing what I haven’t done for almost three years, driving along the snaking roads in Japan. Arriving at Amane Seikai you feel euphoric, the seafood kaiseiki wasn’t the best, but the sake was good, and I was still giddy from seeing the spacious (1776 sq feet) junior suite with its own ocean view pool, jacuzzi, open-air onsen bath. “Room” 230 is in the new wing (according to my booking.com description), the apartment/room is not especially stylish, except for one little bottle of water and some coffee/tea, the mini bar and fridge were empty, but it has a spectacular view and you’ll still get your ocean view from bed and feel the constant gravitational pull of your private open-air onsen. I got up at 6ish just to catch the first rays of sunlight and to listen to the sound of the waves. Last but not least, the staff that checked me in was really nice and spoke perfect English ( coz he is from Nebraska ☺️)

Was really looking forward to this place - outside onsen in room, seaside location, etc. What I got was a cold onsen in my room (even with two hours of running pure hot water into it), and a lukewarm onsen in the main general bathing area. Shower in room was also not hot. On top of this, on arrival, they asked to see my vaccine card. This is not a government requirement and was not communicated at the time of reservation. I didn’t have mine though luckily was able to find a picture of it. Additional information to note is that the location is not convenient - a 2000 yen taxi ride from the station (though admittedly I should have noticed that in advance). All in all, for 50,000 yen per night, it is definitely not worth it. Never again.

We booked the Executive Japanese Western Style Suite which was located in the middle building out of the 3. There was a little tatami room where the staff kindly made the mattresses during dinner time where our 2 young kids could sleep. Then my husband and I occupied the remaining 2 double beds which was just A LOT of space! Dinner was served in one of the restaurants in the same building. Our family of 7 was glad that we got to occupy in a private dining room. Too bad the weather was cloudy that we couldn't see the sun rise at 7am. The suite had a big living room area with a balcony facing the horizon. The view in a cloudy day was already stunning. It's a pity we couldn't see it in the best weather. The breakfast buffet at the same building got so many food choices we didn't get to try everything we would like. This was also because the breakfast time ended at 9:30am... Unlike in other hotels where they would let the guests finish the remaining food even though breakfast time is over, here the food was already being removed at 9:30am.

This hotel has everything. Many stuffs from all over the world. Well educated as hotel stuff. Rooms are designed to be easy to use. There is also an open air bath in each room.

Exquisite experience all around. Service was excellent from the moment we set foot in this gorgeous resort. We were visiting for the Rugby World Cup & thought we’d treat ourselves. So glad we did! Our room was spacious, clean & comfortable with stunning views of the ocean from our private hot spring tub & also a separate balcony. We look forward to returning to enjoy this place again.

Beautiful sea view on the balcony and the living room. Fantastic live jazz performance in the bar. The best is the hot spring in the public room as well as in the balcony. Friendly and helpful staff (except the incident below). However, the good experience was ended, unfortunately with a small incident, which negatively impact our mood. Here's the incident. In the last day of our 2-day stay, we checked out early at around 7am, to catch a shuttle bus at 7:15am. So we went to the restaurant and kindly requested a breakfast take-out. We're greeted by a lady who speak Chinese, as we are from China (however I can speak fluent English with other staff) . This lady behaved very impolitely and impatiently to our requests. She objected our requests without explanation and apologies. What she said is that the hotel has rules not to take out food from the buffet restaurant, although we explained our tight schedule and only requested a couple pieces of bread, which we paid for in our bill. She didn't try to solve guests' problems and meet our appropriate needs. I think she does not represent the average service standard in this hotel. In the end, I don't have time to argue and just left. I hope the management can face the problem and improve the experience, especially for international guests in the future.

If you want a great view and private bath in your room, this may be the place for you. But we stayed at other places for half the price with better food, service and room. Common areas here are nice(restaurants, lounge areas, outdoor hallways) but our room was bland and had no comfortable place to sit and enjoy the view. And the private bath was too hot to stand with no easy way to cool it off. Food was ok but too much of it and our server was not pleasant when we could not finish it all. We were also given a lot of incorrect info at the start by staff who did not communicate well in Japanese, so we missed out on some key experiences. Small things requested were extra cost....at USD$700/ night for two people it is really not worth it.

立ち寄り湯で利用しました。せっかくなので、オーシャンビューの家族風呂にしました。檜風呂で60分間の利用、とても清潔で海を眺めながらの入浴はとても気持ちが良かったです。 I didn't stay here but used only bath. There is a public and private bath in roof top with an ocean view, so we decided to take a private one. You can see the ocean from the bath and the bath tab was made of Hinoki "white cedar". It is in a good location and the private bath is charged by the room, not by person.

Beppu 別府 is very famous and popular city for Hot Spring. I visited here because there is Hot Spring bathroom near seaside. It’s fantastic view from bathroom early in the morning. Dinner and Breakfast are so tasty. Their service is so gentle. If I visit again to Beppu, I want to stay here again.
