It is a very well maintained hotel. All the hotel staffs are nice & helpful. They do have English speaking staffs even though most of the staff doesn't speaking English or speak very little English. We don't have any communication problem. I had breakfast & dinner at the hotel. Both were very satisfied. The location is also very good as...

Though the decoration of the whole hotel is not new and modern, this is a reliable hotel with good reputation! Good service and good onsen, especially the outside one where you can see the moon at a clear night! The view from the room I stay is amazing! It faces east, so I enjoy the beautiful sunrise around half past 6...

We stayed two nights at this hotel. The dinner that comes together with the accommodation was very good. We had a nice waiter who recommended two lovely bottle of local sake, one for each night. The kaiseki dinner was great with fresh sashimi Abd on the first night with bungo beef. The hotel was free parking.

We brought our 3 kids (ages 4-8) and our parents on their first ryokan experience and it was wonderful. The hotel is not new, but well maintained, and the finishings are a little dated, but I find that is also its charm. As there were 7 of us, we were able to have our meals together in 1 room (otherwise...

The tatami room was immaculate, view was of the seacoast and the in room meal was out of this world. The Room attended was wo amending that there was no need was missed. There was some loud political advertising on the streets below at dinner time so I mentioned what was going on to the attendent. Not more than 5...

We stayed with 18 American high school students in April. The rooms were so large with two beds and large Japanese tatami room with sitting area. The outdoor hot spring is big and well maintained. You should not miss it. The dinner was equally amazing with local seafood with great service. I have been traveling many locations in Japan and...

This ryokan is not centrally located nor is it by the sea but it is good and well maintained. I stayed at ryokan by the sea once but that one is rather run down plus ocean view is so so. Actually from my room at this ryokan has mountain view and Japanese garden view which is quite nice. Japanese style...

First time to Japan on business and only a quick visit to the Shiragiku. Didn't try the Onsen, but wish I had. I did check out the local area, nice park and sea font area close by as is the train station-so very convenient. The rooms include a Futon as other reviewers have highlighted so might not be for everyone,...

I am not a fan of negative reviews but I have to say overall I wouldn't recommend the Shiragiku. To start with the positives, the location is only a 10 minute walk from Beppu Station and the rooms are a good size. The in house onsen is also beautiful. It is divided in to two: a large onsen with both...

I was here on a business trip wihtout really time for enjoying the onsen and so I clearly missed on one of the key attractions of this hotel. My wife was accompanying and she was not ready for the Japanese room (and TV !!). I slept very well on the futon after a day of work but she barely did....
