As I was busy, couldn't experience their breakfast, but it's clean, near the center of the city and relatively inexpensive. You can have a leisurely stroll to the castle moat, and public transportation is only a few minutes away. The coin operated washer/dryer was also great for a traveler like myself!

5-8 min walk from Kumamoto Tram Stop - Karashimacho. There are 2 tram lines, A & B. If you take B line, you will need to alight at Nishi-Karashimacho. A Line is from JR Kumamoto Train Station. Popular shopping area Sunroute Shinshigai, Shimotori (covered shopping streets), Tsuruya (shopping mall), Ginza Dori & Sakae Dori (eateries & drinking). City tram is...

Stayed for 2 nights. Very convenient location. Easy to take the tram from kumamoto station. I walked to all the main shopping streets. The bus to Aso is also very close. The hotel itself is a bit old. Small room, as expected in a business hotel. Overall I had a good experience. The price was very good considering the location....

Oldish hotel, very average but the best Japanese breakfast ever! It's absolutely impossible to taste everything. Bus station and Kumamoto castle are near, but take a tram A from station if you travel by train.

Nest Hotel saved us when we arrived in Kumamoto. The hotel we had booked online turned out to be closed due to damage from the recent earthquake. We walked into Nest Hotel off the street and were able to get a non-smoking room for a fair price. The front desk were very helpful, even loaning us umbrellas. It's in a...

Stayed for two nights in this quiet neighborhood surrounded by local residence and a few hotels. Located 4 stops from Kumamoto station (less than 10min ride on city tram, with 5min waiting time), 5min walk from the major shopping street Shinshigai. It's only a few tram stops from Kumamoto Castle (or 20min walk). Hotel staff spoke average English but would...

This was a very nice hotel with a pretty good deal on the room rate, like most business hotels close to the entertainment area. The only problem for me is that had no parking area for my motorcycle so I had to pay an extra 800 yen for overnight which sort of soured the deal somewhat. That being said it...

Stayed here for 4 days/3nights for a conference trip. Pros: - Good location, near a shopping arcade and bus and tram stops. - Hotel staff are nice and helpful. - Good value for money - Complete toiletries (towels, soap, shampoo, comb, shaver, etc) Cons: - Room is small. - Facilities are okay (small TV, cheap water heater, etc). - Aircon/heater...

Just 5 minutes walk to the heart of Kumamoto, Shimotori, and just a few tram stops from the JR train station or Kumamoto Castle. The room is very nice but waited for 15 minutes to check-in as there are many people on a Friday.

Stated simply, this is a $150 hotel that charges only about 60 or $70. It has outstanding cost performance. The location is fairly good, about five or six blocks from the major downtown shopping and play areas. It's only about one block away from the major bus transportation hub. My favorite thing about the hotel was the customer service. About...
