If you are planning a kyoto trip, this is very convenient place to start. The room size is much much bigger and price is much much cheaper! It takes 30 min from Kyoto Station but it's worth it. It is nicely situated next to Biwa lake. There are several restaurants to choose but I recommend Teppanyaki with lake view. You...

Large place that was nearly empty in late January. Very reasonable price. Spacious rooms and bathrooms. Great view of the lake. Several high end restaurants. Staff were very helpful ( as are all staff at all Japanese hotels but had limited English. Parking included and onsite. Recommended.

We stayed for one night . The price was reasonable for the big and nice room. Beautiful hotel in kyoto. ❤️ Facilities really great. My daughter she really like the room. I really recommended this hotel. 👍

This is a lovely large hotel with wonderful accommodations. The large lobby is very inviting with fresh flower arrangements and gleaming decor. The room I stayed in was very large with plenty of work and relaxing space. A valet escorted me to my room and was very helpful. Toiletries are provided in the rooms. I had dinner last night at...

Stayed at Royal Oak for 1 night last Saturday night. Whilst hotel's appearance looks dated, it does have some redeeming features. The hotel does appear to specialise in wedding parties with its own chapel and a number of bridal shops and advisory services. However last weekend, a conference appeared to be major supplier of guests. The building is dated -...

The hotel is more a wedding chapel that takes hotel guests. The staff is not very helpful, for instance: you can borrow a wifi router to use with the wired network, but asking for wifi is not enough; you must use the exact word "Wireless router" otherwise they just say "No". The hotel is located far from Kyoto. You have...

The Royal Oak Hotel is situated on the lake in Otsu, somewhat away from the center of town. The hotel has a romantic setting and caters to wedding parties. The hotel is older but well kept up. Rooms are comfortable, the service is excellent. The Spa is nice but is not free (1500 yen - around 10 Euro - per...

We had planned to stay in Kyoto but couldn't get a decent hotel, so we had to cast our net a bit wider and the Royal Oak came up. We hit gold (sorry for the mixed metaphor). The hotel is only a short taxi ride from Seta station (note Not Otsu) and from there it's only a 17 minute train...

This hotel is great for families with kids. Although it may be about 25 mins drive to Kyoto main town, this hotel more than makes up for it with its level of service and the spaciousness of its room, which is seldom seen in hotels for the budget conscious travelers to Japan

When you enter this hotel it is quite clear that the Main business of this hotel is to organize weedings. Nevertheless it is a very good hotel. I had a really large room (not only large for Japan but also large compared to european standards), 2 beds, desk, couch.... more than I would have expected. Unfortunatelly I didn't have Lake...
