Location is not too far from the park but still a good distance to walk on hot summer day. It was not worth the food & board package- not impressed with dining room set-up (canteen feel), food and even their public bath, for the prices they charged. Most, but not all staff were nice and helpful. Their tourist maps were...

A short taxi ride from the JR station, but more importantly a very short walk from the park. The room was clean and pleasant and the staff very helpful. The map they gave use was excellent, giving a really good route to and through the park going to the less crowded and more peaceful areas. Dinner was good, though not...

Found this hotel on Trip Advisor and wasn't disappointed. It is located right on the boundary of the Nara Park. All the temples are located in the park. The hotel was somewhat helpful in providing us with a map of the park and location of the temples --don't miss the Todaiji Temple with the giant Buddas!! I would suggest taking...

I stayed here recently on a trip to Nara. I found the staff to be extremely helpful. When we arrived, they had a really good map of the area ready for us (very helpful) and also gave us cold fruit tea (I forget if it was orange or lemon) that was delicious. It was very hot when we arrived and...

I booked the hotel after some review on accommodations using TripAdvisor. Turns out to be a pretty good choice. :) The start of my journey to the hotel was from Kyoto where I took the train to the Kintetsu Nara Station. On map the walk looks manageable. However with a pretty heavy suitcase plus laptop under the hot sun... the...

The hotel is a 25-minute schlep from the JR station, closer to the Keiretsu station, in a quiet neighborhood a short walk from two of the major temples and the Nara National Museum, and a short walk to 'old Kyoto'. Don't be put off by the eclectic decor of the western lobby. The staff couldn't be more helpful, storing our...

When we arrived we had a great welcome from the Hotel staff. They were very helpful and explained everything we had to know about the traditional Japanese style room. The booking included a great traditional dinner and breakfast which included ingredients we didn’t know that they exist. The hotel is near all important sites of the city. They offered us...

We stayed two nights at the New Wakasa annex. The staff is very accommodating and the rooms are very clean. Unfortunately for us, we were in a corner room with a view of a building about 4 feet away and an unpleasant odor reminiscent of cabbage. The room was very clean and relatively spacious. As in many ryokan, there is...

This Ryokan is great, especially for first timers for Japanese Ryokan. First, the price is very reasonable with great Kaiseki dinner and breakfast included: for dinner, I was surprised that several specific foods of Nara, such as ancient cheese(I didn't know that ancient people in Nara ate cheese!!) and Kakinoha-sushi (renown mackerel Sushi wrapped with persimmon leaves), etc. Second, the...

This charming ryokan is a little far from the JR station but is very near the (Big Buddha) Temple. They have excellent customer service as the welcoming attendant gives a background on what a ryokan is and even offers a suggested walking route to view the popular sites in Nara. The Kaiseki they offer for dinner is delicious but the...
