Located almost exactly halfway between Nara Station and Nara Park just off a main street. Our tatami room was small but clean and pleasant. Toilets and sinks are down the hall. The futon were a little thinner than I like. The baths downstairs are only available in the evenings (typical of Japan) and are really nice. Wear the robe supplied... More

After reading TripAdvisor reviews about the mattresses in traditional rooms being thin and too short for westerners, thought it best to book a modern bed. The room however was the size of a child's bedroom with a double bed in it so two people packing simultaneously (or doing anything other than lie on the bed) was near impossible. I have... More

If you don't mind the communal showers and the basic room, this place is ideal. It is in a fantastic location that is central to the sights of Nara - everything is in walking distance. The room was clean and the staff very friendly and accommodating. There is an amazing massage chair that will give you a 15-minute extravaganza of... More

My wife and I spent our night in Nara in this refined guest house. The helpful staff spoke both English and Japanese. The traditional tatami had a lovely straw scent that didn't bother my nose at all (I have hayfever, so I was worried about this) and the traditional onsen soaked the pain off of my tour-sore feet. If I... More

Stayed here for four nights and it was our first Ryokan experience. This Ryokan is priced accordingly by comparison to others, so basically ..you get what you pay for! There were many pros - The Onsen experience was one of them, particularly as it's difficult to find and Onsen that will allow you in with tattoos. I was discreet and... More

It was a friendly place with great front desk staff. The public bath was clean & relaxing. The location was perfect; only a 5-10 min walk to both the JR and Kintetsu stations and Nara Park. The only down-sides for us were that the futons were very small and not soft, so it seemed like you were sleeping directly on... More

This small traditional Japanese hotel is located in the middle of the quaint shopping district, with restaurants all over. Thus there were no meals served. I had the "inner" room, which was a huge room in the back. I did not get the futon experience, since there were two twin beds in my room, but I had a couch, table,... More

The ryokan is only a short walk from the station and all the temples. The room was big enough for the 4 of us and very quiet. The public bath is little but then it was only my daughter and I using it. Sadly there's no breakfast at the ryokan but a good cafe down the road from it. Good... More

The Japanese-style hotel is located conveniently between JR Nara and Kintetsu Nara stations on Sanjo-Dori, where you find shops, restaurants and Nara's main attractions within easy walking distance. The lodging itself is a typical low-end Japanese ryokan, where guests sleep on futons lay out on the tatami floor. The futons were clean and comfortable, and we had good night sleeps.... More
