A more modern building yet maintains the old charm of classic ryokans. Nice sized rooms, delicious Japanese breakfast, attentive but reserved service, and amazing public baths, one outdoor with a view of the pagoda and mountains, and a large indoor one with a small waterfall looking out to a garden with Buddha.

The location is excellent (15min slow walk to the train station, and on the steps of the park). The rooms are comfortable, the facilities very well maintained. The private bath (3000Yen+tax) offers a nice view of the pagoda (nice if you book evening time and see it illuminated).

It was an interesting experience to stay in a ryokan, we really enjoyed. Good sides of the hotel: - Location. It was very close to the deer park and in a quite and wonderful area. - Staff: Not all of them could speak english well but they were always willing to help. Especially there was a lady in the reception...

Like another reviewer mentioned, it is better than average yet does not deserve Very good, so I'll go 3 stars here. This typical Japanese hotel is well located, but old and not convenient, with steps everywhere. Room was cramped with the bed on a podium, bathroom typically self contained Japanese bathroom. The overall feeling is of a old hotel. Slippers...

Really not impressed the service was not as good as Matsui Bekkan in Kyoto. Food was the same and room was smaller and not as clean. You can see many stains on the carpet. Location wasn't bad but there really isn't much to Nara except for Todaiji and Nara park. Again how many stars to give depends on how much...

Great experience here! The staff were lovely, the breakfast was very varied and service was great. The outdoor baths were a lovely experience (especially if you go around dinner time as they are empty and you can enjoy to yourself). The outdoor baths overlook a nice pagoda and it is a very relaxing experience. They also had indoor baths. The...

Stayed at the ryokan for 2 nights with another couple in the Japanese Style room. Location: Superb, 10minutes walk from Kintetsu Nara, 2minutes walk from Nara Visitor Center (which I highly recommend). 3minutes walk to Nara Park. 4minutes walk to Kohfukuji Temple. Food: I dont have a basis for comparison as this was the only Japanese styled breakfast and Kaiseiki...

It's located near Nara park where you can see many shrines. I walked from the Nara station and it took around 20 mins. The service staff is really nice and kind. The food is delicious. You can try traditional Japanese food. Plus, they have an outside bathroom from which you can see the Gozyuno-tou. The bath is not that big...

This is a quiet hotel. The staff was very friendly. Our room was very clean and spacious. The food was AMAZING! We enjoyed the stay very much. This hotel is only 10 mins walk from the train station and a few mins walk from Nara Park. The hot bath experience was good but can be improved. We paid extra to...

This is a really lovely Ryokan. As westerners, we appreciated the experience of staying in a traditional Japanese hotel. The service was very good without being overbearing, and you can book a private onsen for those who do not feel comfortable sharing a communal onsen. It’s very spacious, so was a very nice welcome from being poked up in a...
