My wife and I travelled here in April 2016. We were greeted by an elderly gentleman who ushered us inside and helped us check in early. My wife was feeling a little under the weather - when the staff learned this, they organised to give her some medicine, and showed genuine care about her condition, offering to take her to...

Hotel is very friendly and hospitable providing lovely rooms and Hotel services. We found the Bar, hidden below the staircase, to have an astonishing array of drinks to satisfy anyone. Dining in the Hotel is Silver Service and mainly western. Hotel has photos of some of their most important guests over the years. Hotel has been around for over 140...

With photos of famous guest from around the world adorning the walls, an ideal mountain top location, and a fabulous French-Japanese restaurant, this hotel is a great place for a couples get-away, a sightseeing base camp, or a family vacation. While the hotel furnishings are dated, this is part of the charm that sweeps you back in time at this...

Good location, extended obviously several times, trying to mantain the original style. Our room was in an annexe, so not so stylish. But the common rooms are charming, with a lot of room to relax and sip some tea (gratis) in the evening. Very attentive doorman, very beautifully served and extensive English breakfast. Dinner is quite expensive. Offer patisseries AM/...

This is the oldest hotel in Japan that was built at more than 100 years ago. I heard historical stories about this hotel from a bell man. It is a nice hotel that the founder's thoughts to the guest still remain to all of the staffs who work here. This was the second time for us to visit there.

Just 7 stops in the local bus will bring you to this original western style hotel in delightful setting. Rooms large and very comfortable. Most rooms in main building that could be seen were twin share, but they also had other style of accommodation. Meals in hotel were silver service and french cuisine. We were lucky it actually snowed while there....

Hotel is at a good location, surrounded by restaurants and souvenir shops all at a walking distance. It is a very old and classic hotel but refurbished in many ways. You will have to walk up and down a hill to get to the hotel from the roads unless you are driving. Parking is free for the hotel guests. Upon...

The hotel was one of the earliest western style ones in Japan, going back to the beginning of the last century. The location is perfect, just next to the sacred bridge. The food is also good, French style, although a little bit over prized. As for the service, comparing with other Japanese hotels, especially for such a famous, is kind...

Stayed 2 nights as part of a group booking. Our room was in the annex, no elevator, but just up one floor to a spacious, cosy and quiet room with a view over the garden. Dinner on both nights was very good, beautifully served by lovely staff in the ornate dining room. After dinner try the whisky bar for good...
