This was a very nice place to stay in Nikko. My sister and I stayed here for one night in a private room with a bathroom and, while a little small, the room was very cute and clean. The hotel also provided yukata to wear along with toothbrushes and other small amenities which was very nice. The hotel also had Japanese style baths that you could use privately and provided free water and tea. In terms of location, it was quite convenient, being very close to the Kamangafuchi Abyss and the Tamozawa Imperial Villa. It was also only a short walk from a convenience store and a bus stop. It was, however, a little while away from the major world heritage sites, although they were easily accessible using the bus.
WOW the hot spring bath in this place was the most welcome thing my poor sore feet could ask for. We even had a room with western style beds. The heating in the room was perfect, The hosts made us breakfast of fruits and breads and it was so charming. It was pretty chilly outside but this place was clean, warm and dry. The river out the back was a soothing sound to fall asleep too.
Turtle in traditional style rooms which are very charming. The rooms are very clean and the bathrooms well appointed. Staff were friendly and helpful. Tea was available in the common area. There are lovely walking trails along the river from the hotel which are easily accessed. The main town is approx 10 min easy walking and there is a Lawson convenience store nearby. The healthy breakfast provided is very nice with fresh fruit, orange juice, a boiled egg and toast and is reasonably priced. There are good laundry facilities available and an excellent indoor onsen for private use, catering for western tourists. Nice quiet location with lovely outlook by the river. Very tranquil, an exceelent place to unwind.
I had never tried a ryokan before, but was willing. The traditional beds were very comfy and warm which was great because the weather was freezing. I little walk from the centre of town but still a beautiful one was the scenery of the local area is amazing. The staff were polite.
If visiting Nikko I would highly recommend this ryokan. Staff were friendly, rooms were clean. You get a beautiful window view of a stream nearby the hotel and you can hear the running stream from your room. The rooms are a nice size and the ryokan also has its own individual private onsen.
