This was our first stay in a Ryokan and we were not disappointed! Firstly, the staff are so friendly, and from the moment we stepped through the front door we were made to feel welcome. A lady showed us to our room, and explained everything to us. She was so lovely, and asked us questions about our trip. The rooms...

We booked this Ryokan because previous reviews detailed they spoke English. As traveling through Japan can be tricky if you don't speak Japanese this was a big plus. The hotel is very old and feels authentic. There was quite a bit of wear to the rooms such as damage to the paper screens ( but nothing that would ruin your...

The Fukuzumiro Ryokan was an incredible quaint and cute inn with friendly staff and a beautiful indoor and outdoor environment. We were able to easily use the private Onsen, with only a short wait typically, and the location of the Ryokan was only a short 15 minute walk from Hakone Machi station. The meals (breakfast and dinner) were glorious with...

We wanted to spend at least one night in a traditional ryokan - it was a lovely if sometimes slightly weird (in a good way) experience ... the room overlooking the river was beautiful (although the river is quite loud which didn't bother us, but it might bother some) with an amazing outlook. We had both dinner and breakfast served...

This was the highlight of our trip- which is saying a lot because our trip to Japan has been one of the best experiences of my life so far! This Ryokan was traditional, homey, so welcoming and everything we were hoping to experience! You basically get an assigned attendant who will show you around the Ryokan when you arrive, and...

It's a traditional ryokan and it was a really good experience. There were two onsens and different times for men and women, and also a private onsen as well. The food was excellent and was served in our room. It's a bit hard to find if you come by train as we did and the instructions they gave were not...

We were treated so wonderfully our entire stay here. Best place we stayed our entire trip. The room was absolutely gorgeous with views of the river. The dinner is a must. Everything was beautifully prepared. Worth the price.

1) Get a room by the river. 2) "Shared bathroom" doesn't necessarily mean you'll be sharing a toilet with a stranger. We had the entire floor to ourselves. Remember, this is an old building, and they didn't put restrooms inside bedrooms. 3) Although the men's and women's hot spring baths are different, they switch during the day so you can...

Finally making our way to Japan, I had-to-to-had-to stay one night in a traditional Ryokan. So that is what we did. And since Hakone is on the way from Kyoto to Tokyo, it made sense to book there and experience the Onsen with the Ryokan. Loved every minute of it. We booked a room with dinner and breakfast, so we...
