This place is beyond cool - it is SUPER cool. A former royal summer house turned hotel, it’s as oldy-Worldy-glamour as it gets, with a Japanese style to it.
The building is nothing short of spectacular, honestly never thought I’d see anything like this in real life. Where do I s

This hotel is by far the best place to stay in the Hakone area. The atmosphere and decoration has been kept as it was almost a century ago, yet the rooms are clean and well renovated. The main restaurant is a little expensive, but good quality.

My god, reading some of the negative comments on here about this beautiful time warp of a hotel just gets my back up. What do you expect going into a hotel founded in 1878? En suite jacuzzis!? This is was the best hotel we stayed in in Japan - there are so few like it. A real her

This hotel isn't too bad, but just a bit outdated. We stayed here for 2 nights and that was more than enough. The room was big, but quite cold and had a bit of a smell too it. I wouldn't say that this would be any reason not to stay here. There is a lovely bar that had a happ

We were expecting a more traditional space given Fujiya hotel is one of the oldest operating hotels in Japan but instead got a hotel that’s simply stuck in the ages. The exterior of the building is impressive but the interior is simply tired. The onsen is also very average consid

I am interested in using your amazing indoor lap pool. Do you allow non guests to use it for a fee?
Japanese hotels are usually very restrictive about usage of their facilities for non-guests, beside there is no facility use fee system in the Fujiya Hotel, as far as I remember. The so called "traditional hotels" are more restrictive than others, and possibly Fujiya Hotel is such case. Sorry for that. QuietBrazilian

Does the hotel dining have gluten free and vegetarian options?
I think so. They have a few different dining options there and if you eat Japanese, gluten free is not too hard. Tricky one is the soup stock they use in Japan, since fish stock is used commonly.

Are there restaurants to each within walking distance?
As the others have said, there are restaurants at hotel .... but we found it expensive ($8 charge for bread) and not very good. The dining room is impressive though and staff try their best to do silver service. There is a small tempura restaurant and a simple restaurant with pasta etc within a few hundred metres uphill. There's a Lawson/ 7-11 convenience store just down the hill.

Does the hotel have a shuttle bus from the train at Odwara Station or elsewhere?
The Hotel has not Shuttle bus service from Dodawara station. To get the Hotel, at first, you go to Haokone-Yumoto, both bus or train are available. Then you go to Miyanoshita station, both bus and mountain train are available, too. From Miyanoshita station, You walk 500 m along the street. I prefer to use mountain train. too Get bus start from
