Arrived early at hotel while its raining, we taken bus and while walking towards the hotel, the staffs rushed out with umbrella, and help us with our luggage. Nice and good initiative effort. When we were just inside, couple more staffs came out ,served us with hot beverages, one of the staffs asking for our names to check the reservation,...

The Fujiya Hotel is an experience. The staff are attentive and accommodating. If you take the Hakone railway they have staff that can pick you with your luggage if you notify them ahead of time. They have staff members who can speak English and made checking in and out a breeze. The property is beautiful and quite large, with many...

I believe the Fujiya was the first Western-style hotel built in Japan. It is a grand old hotel and has a history of famous dignitaries and celebrities staying there. To the modern tourist, it will feel a bit dated; the beds are really hard and the fixtures are old. The charm of the hotel is not about this though; it's...

It's a bit of a schlepp to the hotel if you're doing a side trip from Tokyo (2 or 3 trains, including a switchback up the mountain), but it is so worth it! The hotel is worth a visit in itself, but the surrounding area is beautiful too. The Fujiya is totally charming: its many public areas are inviting and...

A very special hotel due to its history! Very large rooms (as opposed to other hotels in Japan). Do not miss the (free) visit of the hotel history museum and a tour of the Japanese garden. The down side – although Hakone is famous for its outdoors onsens – the Fujiya Hotel has a miniature indoor onsen only, and also...

This is a relatively grand old hotel with charming public areas which are a time capsule to when it must have been quite impressive. Sadly our stay fell short of expectations with our Forest View high rise room: - paper thin walls between the rooms meaning every conversation filtered from our neighbours - running water within the walls that kept...

Fujiya Hotel is now part of Kokusai Kogyo Co, a bus business conglomerate with no direct connection with the roots of the Fujiya Hotel. Located right in front of Kokudo No.1, it is the Hanoke's landmark the main building preserve the Karaha Style design made by wood. It is the early Meiji era Japanese interpretation of Western architecture. The original...

This was a good and bad experience The room we were allocated was very spacious and had great views. Nice walk around the gardens as well. Good location on the whole The downside is that the Ibsen and pool though nostalgic have a very dated feel. So did the bathrooms which o personally do not like in a hotel. A...

A wonderful hotel well worth a visit for so many reasons. The rooms are well appointed and as mentioned elsewhere maintain their original charm which is wonderful. We visited during winter and the room, as well as the rest of the hotel, was well heated and our room had an air purifier as well as a humidifier. The staff are...
