Yes the private onsen is an open air bath. There is a view but it's not fantastic and you have to get out of the onsen to catch the view since they have to build a screen between the onsen and the exterior. It does not come... More

30 minutes is enough for most guests. Your best bet will be to ask the owner upon check-in or if you do not mind, take a later slot so if there is no one else using, you can continue beyond the half hour.

We didn’t have JR passes but the best way for us would be to take the train from Shinjuku to Odawara, transfer to the local train to Hakone Yumoto followed by a transfer to the tram from there to Gora. In all, it takes... More
