We stayed for one night and had a wonderful time - so relaxing and just what we needed after a week of intense sightseeing. The location, service, food and standard of accommodation was very high. The service, location and food at takenoha were all excellent. We had a brilliant time. Our only problem was that our room smelled very strongly of damp and even significant airing with the windows open didn't help.

There isn't much in the way of budget accommodation in Hakone, and having stayed previously at the less-than-great Kappa no Tengoku, I decided to splurge a bit on my next visit and chose Take no Ha. We stayed at Takeoha for 2 nights on their half board (breakfast and dinner) package. We were a family group of 5 and they made sure that we had rooms next door to each other and set a table in the dining room for us to sit together. The staff spoke basic English, but were friendly and willing to help....

My stay at this inn was one of the highlights of my trip. It's a great, relaxing atmosphere, with everyone lounging around in their yukatas after a good soak in the hot mineral baths. Loved the traditional tatami room and excellent food. I can't say enough good things about this place!

My very pleasant experience with Takenoha started three months before my trip. Generally, Hakone is touristy and prices are high throughout, but I found Takenoha value for money for the price I paid, compared to the rest of the ryokans I researched. We stayed two nights. Large Japanese room, with balcony. Dinners were excellent and rather different. Nice sake as well as affordable Italian wine. The two onsen (in/outdoors) are very comfortable. Friendly staff, explaining Japanese customs in detail. Well located, close to Koen Maki cabletrain and connected to Hakone ropeway.
