I brought my 2 teenagers nieces to Hakone for their first onsen experience. I was glad we chose Takenoha. This establishment has excellent location and the onsen (both indoor & open-air) are lovely! It's a less than 5minutes walk from gora station on the funicular. Exit from the station, there is a small corner convenience store. Walk down the slope,...

We stayed for one night and had a wonderful time - so relaxing and just what we needed after a week of intense sightseeing. The location, service, food and standard of accommodation was very high. The bathing facilities were also great - though the water in the inside baths was so hot that I could barely get into them and...

The service, location and food at takenoha were all excellent. We had a brilliant time. Our only problem was that our room smelled very strongly of damp and even significant airing with the windows open didn't help.

There isn't much in the way of budget accommodation in Hakone, and having stayed previously at the less-than-great Kappa no Tengoku, I decided to splurge a bit on my next visit and chose Take no Ha. It's not the most expensive accommodation in Hakone by far, but not the cheapest either, at around £60pppn. I expected a luxurious stay, and...

An agency helped us book this hotel. We had a hard time finding it but that was mostly our fault. We were tired and didn't read the map properly, thought we could find it anyway but there is no sign with the name in western letters. It is a step hill to walk up to the hotel even if it...

We stayed at Takeoha for 2 nights on their half board (breakfast and dinner) package. We were a family group of 5 and they made sure that we had rooms next door to each other and set a table in the dining room for us to sit together. The staff spoke basic English, but were friendly and willing to help....

My stay at this inn was one of the highlights of my trip. It's a great, relaxing atmosphere, with everyone lounging around in their yukatas after a good soak in the hot mineral baths. Loved the traditional tatami room and excellent food. I can't say enough good things about this place!

My very pleasant experience with Takenoha started three months before my trip. Generally, Hakone is touristy and prices are high throughout, but I found Takenoha value for money for the price I paid, compared to the rest of the ryokans I researched. They were always quick over email, even when I had to cancel my friend's part of the reservation,...

We stayed two nights. Large Japanese room, with balcony. Dinners were excellent and rather different. Nice sake as well as affordable Italian wine. The two onsen (in/outdoors) are very comfortable. Friendly staff, explaining Japanese customs in detail. Well located, close to Koen Maki cabletrain and connected to Hakone ropeway.

This is one of the most expensive stay we had in our 2 weeks vacation in Japan. It was a rainiy day when we arrived at Hakone, and we were lost on our way to this ryokan. Luckily, there were this kind Japanese man who offered us an helping hand and contacted our ryokan owner. We were just about 50m...
