If you need a hotel close to Narita Airport, stay in Narita. At least you can enjoy the beautiful town of Narita rather than be stuck at a stand alone airpot hotel.
I can recommend the Mercure. It is really well located. 2 min walk...More
We landed very late in the evening and needed to take the morning train out of Tokyo. This hotel, ~10-20 min by train from the airport, was a much better choice than heading to downtown.

The hotel is about 20 minutes from Narita airport by taxi. It is in the middle of a town. The hotel is an older property and it shows all over the place. Nevertheless, everything worked well and with the decent room rate, offers definitely value...More
We chose the Mercure Hotel Narita for the location. It is very close to the 2 main train stations in Narita. It is an easy walk to NaritaSan the temple. It is easy to access many restaurants. The location is this hotel's best feature. It...More
Noisy rooms. Airco fills the room with an unmistakable smell of old sigaret smoke, the trains and railway crossings are clearly heard. Looks far too old and needs total renovation (or better yet: demolishment). What a pity that we prebooked a room here ...

You can contact the hotel before you travel for the schedule or upon arrival if you go to the Visitor Information desk in the Arrivals terminal, they also have the schedule. The bus is very easy to find outside the airport terminal, you will have no problem finding it, they will also tell you at the Visitor information desk where to meet the bus. It will definitely be on time so be there a few minutes before the time it is due to leave. I believe the bus runs every 1.5 - 2 hours from the airport to the hotel. It is not customary to tip in Japan so I would say no to the tip. I would highly recommend purchasing a JR Rail Pass before you travel to Japan. Enjoy all that Japan has to offer - it is truly incredible.
